Two bedroom flatlet with a lounge/dining room and fully equipped kitchenette.

Situated within easy walking distance of the hospitably welcoming village atmosphere of Muizenberg, a surfing mecca with its world renowned white sand beaches, friendly cafes, pizzerias and restaurants, Flamingo Vlei offers the ideal self-catering option for a couple or small family.

Set well back from the road this 2-bedroomed apartment has its own private entrance, offering both security and seclusion.

Fully equipped, the apartment offers:

An airy, comfortably-appointed sitting room with a flat screen, all channel, satellite TV;

Main bedroom with a double bed overlooking an enclosed patio and swimming pool;

A second bedroom with bunk beds making it eminently suitable for children;

Well appointed kitchen with a fridge, 2-plate electric cooker, microwave, electric kettle and toaster;

Roomy shower and toilet (en-suite to the main bedroom);

Additional cold outdoor shower conveniently situated for an after swim rinse;

Uncapped, totally free wifi internet connectivity.


The apartment is serviced at no charge once a week during your stay. Additional servicing can be provided at a reasonable charge.

The swimming pool, which is shared with your hosts, is accessed directly from the living room, making the apartment not really suitable for baies and toddlers. Regrettably we are therefore not able to accommodate children of any age who are not able to swim.

A portable, outdoor BBQ (“braai” to us South Africans) can be made available on request, and

Off-street tandem parking can be shared with your hosts by arrangement.


No smoking is permitted indoors, and we cannot accommodate pets.

Your hosts have a small family dog.


The apartment derives a part of its name from nearby ZandVlei, an attractive estuary and wetland offering not only large flocks of visiting flamingos but a wealth of resident marine and other bird life, and opportunities for boating and canoeing. The beach, a mere 400 meters away, offers renowned surfing opportunities for the expert and there are a number of well-accredited surfing schools for the novice wannabe surfer situated around world famous Surfers’ Corner.

Within easy walking distance is a large, well-provisioned supermarket, and there are numerous eateries catering for every taste and pocket, and ranging from cozy coffee shops and pizzerias to gourmet-rated restaurants. The nearby Blue Bird Market draws the well-informed from all over the Peninsula every Friday night for stall-style food, artisanal beer and convivial entertainment.

Zandvlei, the Beach and the Sea Walk from Muizenberg to St James and Kalk Bay, all offer easy walks and jogging opportunities, and for those looking for more serious and challenging exercise there is a network of mountain rambles within comfortable walking distance.

Cape Town itself, with its world-rated Waterfront and Table Mountain (a World Heritage Site) is a half hour drive away, and for the wine connoisseur the whole surrounding area offers one great wine estate after the next. Cape Point, with its magnificent views and unspoiled terrain is within easy driving distance and there a several highly rated and challenging golf courses in the area.

Recently retired from the rat race and looking to enjoy village life with our 2 young sons and a little dog. The house had extra space that wasn't being used, and we love meeting new and interesting people, so we thought "why not share the joys of Muizenberg."

Why Pam Stander chose Muizenberg

It's quiet, peaceful, sunny and spacious. There is secure parking, and s salt water pool, full kitchenette, comfortable lounge and spacious shower. Security is great and it provides really easy access to all the local amenities and attractions: bird watching, Estuary , mountain and beach walks. There are playgrounds, a mini golf course and a water slide park within walking distance. Awesome food markets are mere minutes away, as well as many fantastic restaurants and coffee shops. We are surrounded by spectacular scenery, many outdoor activity opportunities, a fantastic beach, convenient shopping, and some really interesting galleries and shops. If you just want to relax at home, there is free unlimited wifi, open satellite tv with all channels, and a pool to enjoy. Swim and look up at the beautiful mountain. In the morning lie in your bed and listen to the sound of the birds waking up!

What makes this apartment unique

Seaside village, with all the big city conveniences. We are a family home with a curious little dog. This creates a very laid back atmosphere. So if you are looking for a neat, clean, well maintained, well priced, home away from home for your holiday, this is the spot!

Bel appartement bien situé à 10 mn à pied d'une belle plage. Tout proche du fameux market de nuit le vendredi soir où vous pourrez vous asseoir à une grande table avec d'autres convives après avoir choisi des plats locaux. Très convivial - à faire. Accueil de la propriétaire avec une bouteille de vin très sympathique. Endroit très calme. Parking privé. Emplacement idéal pour visiter CAP TOWN et le CAP DE BONNE ESPERANCE, voir les pingouins (15 mn) et les otaries 30 mn.

Muizenberg has a large number of restaurants, from artisanal bakeries and organic vegetarian fare through to gourmet eateries. The beach offers the best swimming on the peninsula, surfing, wind surfing, and kite surfing. Over whale season, it is an almost daily occurrence to see whales close up on the famous St. James walk. The Estuary offers little ones the opportunity to let off steam and there is a proliferation of wildlife to view. On Friday nights the famous Blue Bird Garage market opens and people from near and far congregate to enjoy craft beer and fresh local culinary delights. Muizenberg mountain has some spectacular hikes and easier walks through the fynbos. A short trip over scenic Boyes Drive will take you to gorgeous Kalk Bay, a favorite for antiquing. It also offers dozens of beautiful shops and galleries. Enjoy quirky Palmer Road, a 2 minute walk away, with its coffee shops and bakeries, local corner pub and interesting art shops. A favorite amongst locals.

Please note that this is a strictly non-smoking establishment. Check in is at 2pm and check out is at 10am. We have a small dog and although every effort is made to keep him out of the flat, we advise people with allergies to consider this before booking. The room is serviced once a week for long bookings. If you require more frequent cleaning we will be happy to arrange for you for a small fee which goes to the cleaning lady. There is a small barbecue available on request, and as the parking is tandem please make sure to speak up if you need to leave early, or come home late and not be disturbed in. The morning. We will make arrangements.
