Couldn't ask for more from a place to stay, the same for the sister villa nextdoor, Blue. The views are stunning, the location peaceful, even though the bustling alleys of Oia old town are only a few dozen steps above you (you honestly don't hear any noise whatsoever!). Our pre booked taxi, via Johan, dropped us off 5 minutes walk away and we were met by a very helpful lady. Everything has been thought out nicely, the layout and decor is contemporary and minimalist and fits nicely with the villa location. For what it's worth, I recommend, after a day of pounding the pavements, grab a bottle or two of whatever you drink, and sit and enjoy the early evening views, before getting ready to head out.
The biggest compliment we can pay it... we've thought about being there every day since we got back!
This wonderful cave house is very special , scrupulously clean and contemporary style with whitewash walls and simple lines.
We loved our sunflower head shower, big comfy bed, fluffy white towels and gorgeous turquoise beach towels. Although the kitchen is tiny we did cook lunch and breakfast there taking advantage of the excellent location in the more Bohemian end of town to go to wonderful cafes and restaurants for dinner. Great to have dvd and CD player. Loved that our terrace was set below the tourist throng and we had views of the entire Caldera which no photograph can do justice to. However it is in our heads forever. Thankyou for a wonderful honeymoon!
September was beautiful in Oia, and villa white added significantly to our stay. We enjoyed the comfort of a cave house with a spectacular view. The houses in Oia are built above one another so there is a climb up and down the stairs to go anywhere. We were grateful for those stairs after we arrived. Many tourists trek the small paths through the town stopping to take pictures of the beautiful views. When we tired of the crowds all we had to do is go down our stairs and it was quiet, serene, and impressive. The house has a superb view of the caldera, Fiera, as well as sailboats and cruise ships touring the area.
We stayed in the house for eleven days. Unlike a hotel, the villa white has everything you need for a longer stay. Comfortable beds with nice linen and a good shower enhance any vacation stay. The lighting shows off the simple elegance of the interior decorated with traditional colors and styles. There is a kitchen with a small refrigerator and basic cooking equipment. It also has a remarkable view out a small window. We did not cook in the house. Instead, we enjoyed fresh breakfast pastries on the private patio from the local bakeries. In the evening we chose from the multitude of delightful restaurants nearby. As we stayed in the cave house we thought about the people who lived in these traditional homes.
We definitely enjoyed our stay at villa white. Johan has been a pleasure. He set up our transfer from the airport, including help with the luggage, and to the ferry. He helped us mail items to the local post office for our stay. He even mailed back my sunglasses I accidently left in the house. He checked on our comfort and answered questions by email throughout our stay.
Memories of our stay and the beautiful view from Villa white take my breath away. We would definitely recommend this beautiful cave house to friends and family.
I searched long and hard for the perfect place to say in Oia. I wanted the cave-style, hill-side, caldera view place. When I came across Johan's properties, I knew I had to stay there.
Johan was quick to respond to many of my questions leading up to my stay, from restaurant recs to activities and car rentals. He helped arrange transfers for us from the port and to the airport.
We stayed in Villa White and everything is exactly as pictured. It's clean, spacious, has a great shower, good-sized bathroom, living room area, small kitchen area with mini fridge and some kitchen tools, and a great AC. Johan even provided us with beach towels. We also enjoyed playing his Frank Sinatra CDs on his sound system, we felt so classy.
The villas are the perfect distance down from the busy main street, which is a couple flights up. You won't hear the many people walking atop. We walked around all of Oia often and could easily return back to the villa to rest during the hottest time of the day. The place is not accessible by car but is only a 5 minute walk to the post office which is a main meeting area for pickups/drop-offs. We rented a car for a day and parked it in that area.
There wasn't a day we didn't take advantage of the front porch, you just can't get enough of the Caldera view, morning or night. The mornings are peaceful, enjoy your breakfast looking out at the clear view. At night, you can star-gaze and see the lights from the towns across the caldera.
It was the most memorable stay of our two week trip. I would recommend this place to anyone visiting Oia!
Based reviews I expected a fabulous property but that is not what this apartment is -- it is NOT a "villa". The best thing I can say is that it has an amazing view from the small and very hot patio. That is it. There are many steep steps to get to the apartment and the path leads you right into a tourists' hell -- so many people looking at the tourist shops that you literally can hardly walk. And, it is certainly not interesting at all. There are very few beach in Santorini and they are small, not and far. You really want a pool at your location, but as you can see, the apartment does not have one. We were very disappointed in the quality of everything in the unit - all the electronics are very old and the kitchen really only has a hot plate that looks like one my grandmother would have gotten for her wedding. Why bother with this when hotels make you a fabulous breakfast. There was no space, no utensils and no grocery store close by.
The furnishings are shabby and uncomfortable and there is no laundry in the unit. There are many hotels with great views, services include pools, for less than we paid. My daughter and I got food poisoning the first night there and wrote to the owner in the middle of the night that we desperately needed housekeeping. We heard from him at 5pm the next day and he sent a young porter that night who offered to "help" clean. In a hotel we would have had someone there immediately to clean the room and change the bed. We had to live for three days in a stinky room and the owner was only concerned about his cheap furnishings.
Next time we will stay in a hotel.
The place was exactly like the photos. The house was intelligently designed, beautifully put together and well thought out. Johan & Vivi were great hosts and were there in case we needed anything which we didn't because it was all perfect to begin with. We would stay there again in a heartbeat and hope to sometime in the future.
With exception of the classical Greek monuments, the iconic village of Oia on the Northern tip of the Santorinian Caldera rim is probably the most frequently photographed location in Greece. With its picturesque cliff-edge houses, imposing captains’ mansions, cobbled marble streets and ubiquitous blue-domed churches, Oia presents the ultimate Cycladic experience. Oia boasts the most hip and refined restaurants, hotels and clubs on Santorini and arguably the most sublime sunset in the Mediterranean.
