About Suzanna Clarke
I am a writer, renovator and frequent traveller, and have a particular love for French food, wine, architecture and culture. Originally from New Zealand and Australia, I have worked as a photographer; journalist and the Arts Editor of a large Australian newspaper. My passion is to find older, character properties and to give them a new lease of life. My first property in France was Bordeaux Terrace in 2007. Since then, other owners have asked me to manage their properties and I have taken on a select few. My family and I now live between France and Morocco, and it is a joy to spend part of each year in the Dordogne. The region has a huge amount to offer, and it is a pleasure to be able to share this experience with others and help them make the most of their holiday. I work with a trusted team, including English and French speaking property managers. They have a great deal of experience in meeting, greeting and making guests feel comfortable.

Why Suzanna Clarke chose Domme
It's rare to find such an appealing house in a village which has been so well restored, with luxury fixtures and fittings. The ensuite bathrooms for each bedroom are also appreciated.

Beautiful house in beautiful village
This is the perfect holiday house. We easily accommodated our entire family (ourselves and our three adult children with their partners). The outdoor living and pool areas are lovely and the house itself (with four huge bedrooms) was terrific. Domme is a wonderful place to stay and we had the most memorable of holidays. Thanks Suzanna for arranging such terrific accomodation.
Maison de Domme
This property is an absolute delight. The layout and simple but elegant ambience suited us perfectly, it was spotlessly clean and everything worked perfectly (thanks to the comprehensive briefing given by Patricia). The location in this gorgeous village was ideal - walking distance to excellent restaurants such as Chabanoix et Chataignes, Auberge de la Rode and Comptoir D'Annam (over the road) and to fabulous lookouts, walks, the local cave and some good shops. The outdoor entertainment area was such a pleasant spot for lunches and relaxing around the pool.
As we were staying at a quieter time unfortunately not all the restaurants were open and the local store for grocery items was closed but this was well and truly outweighed by the overall relaxed mood in the village, the ease in making bookings and availability of parking nearby.
As we were celebrating a special birthday we used the services of a chef that was offered - what a fabulous experience!
The quality of the food and the friendly yet professional service was first class - thank you David and to Patricia for organising!
We have no hesitation in recommending this property for couples wishing to stay in a beautiful house in a centrally located village for a wonderful Dordogne experience.
Wonderful home for exploring the Dordogne
We spent two weeks in this beautiful house and can't recommend it enough. It is exactly as the description says. The location in the village is wonderful to be able to walk and get pastries in the AM or to stroll to dinner in the evening. The house is comfortable, spacious and fully equipped with everything we needed. Domme is a great location from which to explore the regions attractions - whether, going slightly further afield to Rocamadour (1 hour) or driving down the hill for a fabulous canoe trip down the river there is never any shortage of things to do. And, on several days a stroll through the village with a day spent poolside was plenty enough. Every part of the booking experience was seamless - the owner is quick to respond to questions and the maps and directions to the home perfect. The local host was delightful - she gave us great restaurant recommendations and spoke English perfectly. Highly recommended.
Only minutes away, Domme is the perfect base to explore Sarlat, France’s best preserved medieval and renaissance city, the enchanting castles of Beynac, Fayrac, Castelnaud and La Roque-Gageac, the UNESCO World Heritage prehistoric caves at Lascaux and the endless charms and delights of the towns and villages of the Dordogne’s Perigord Noir.
Rated “one of the most beautiful villages of France” for its flower-laced medieval golden stone houses and historic sites, Domme is a world-famous jewel. Founded as a “royal bastide” – a fortress village – by Philippe III in 1281 as France and England entered the Hundred Years War, Domme offers commanding views of the Dordogne River valley and surrounding castles and villages. Along its parapets you can now sip the fine wines of Bordeaux and the region and imagine where French and English armies once battled.
