You're on vacation so why wait better than a 1/2 hour to use the bathroom? Why be crammed into a house that is shared with 10 others when you can all still be together but each have your own private space for the same or less money. Why not wake up and enjoy your first cup of coffee on the deck overlooking the lake.
Sure, other places sleep 10, 12 or more but have 2 bathrooms, it just doesn't work! We excel at vacations and have remarkable competitive WEEKLY RENTALS! Don't get squeezed into a loud, old rental property or expensive hotel when you can be in your own modern lakeside property, have your own kitchen and live on your own schedule with your friends enjoying the same comforts in one of our 4 suites as well. You can do all this at roughly the same or less price of a house.
Sleeping Lion is located on Otsego lake about 10 minutes (6 miles) from downtown Cooperstown. We have private lake frontage with very large dock and more decks than you will know what to do with. Enjoy the freedom of wireless, watch your flat screen TV with DVDs and the air conditioned living for your vacation.
You shouldn't have to worry about traffic when you get out of your car so we have private, safe, off street parking. You each have your own, off street, parking spot. Check out our guest comments below.
Call me to discuss how we can accommodate you.
We've just started accepting bookings for 2017 and many suites have been rented the last two weeks. We have folks coming in from CO, TX, NJ, NC and FL, CA, ME, NJ, MI, MA and the list is growing.
If all of you don't want to be at the ball park or in museums every minute you can take your coffee down to the lake and sit on the deck looking over the lake spotting the bird life at the water. Walk down and sit on the dock with your feet in the water while reading your favorite book, lay in a lounge chair and get some sun or catch a nice swim.
We are from New Jersey and stayed at your Sleeping Lion and we won the entire tournament.

We really enjoyed this warm, comfortable place. It was truly convenient for myself and the boys to see it all. We especially appreciated the lake in all its splendor. We will spread the word. Thanks for all you did.

This is such a great location. The view across the lake, spring, summer and fall are spectacular, and the rooms were very comfortable. You feel right at home the moment you put your bags down. Will spread the word about this lovely lodge.

What a perfect house for several families to share. We enjoyed our week of baseball at the Dreams Park and felt very welcome by the warm hospitality of the many Cooperstown people we met.

I'm a spontaneous adventurer. Pretty much no sport I won't try but most of the time I'm either biking, swimming, playing tennis or working on the properties I own. I spend my business day working with car manufactures and dealers to help improve their relationships with customers.
I've traveled to many countries in Europe and most states in the USA. Last spring I traveled 6000 miles on a new Harley I bought at a charity auction in San Francisco. Since our guests have so many interests I often ask them to join in on some of the sports we play, and yes, they are usually better than I am.
Since this is your vacation I like to talk with the people looking at the Sleeping Lion to make sure this is the right place for you. Often I have 5 or more conversations before we confirm a reservation. Since I've had 100% satisfaction we can be pretty sure you will enjoy the same enjoyment.

You are in vacation so you need to enjoy it.
Hundreds of families have enjoyed a week long vacation at The Sleeping Lion On The Lake. Save money on dining by using your kitchen. Private decks on lake. I also own VRBO 330704 and often groups rent both properties.
So when you are trying to figure out where to stay I suggest you look very carefully at what you want for your week vacation stay. If you don't want water but do want to be in the think of downtown traffic then probably should stain in town. I you like waking up on the water, catching a morning swim and eating breakfast on the dock, the Sleeping Lion is your place.
Live on Lake
Boating and swimming out your front door.
Easy drive to Glimmerglass Festival 5 minutes
Easy drive to Dreams Park 15 minutes
Easy drive to Cooperstown 10 minutes
You can swim in the morning, play golf in the afternoon and bike in the evening.
Close enough to CDP, but far enough away to feel like a true vacation destination. My parents stayed with me and Greg was an amazing host to us all, full of local insight which was much appreciated. We rented a pontoon at a nearby marina for the day before CDP check-in and the day after we were eliminated from the tournament. We caught some of the biggest Largemouth and Smallmouth Bass I have ever seen. Lake Ostego provides a beautiful and scenic backdrop with Eagles flying about. This property is a great value for access to the lake and proximity to town.
We were in Cooperstown for the CDP tournament. Sleeping Lion lived up to all our expectations, the views were fantastic and it was a great place to wind down and relax away from all the craziness of the tournament and downtown Cooperstown. Greg did everything he could to make our stay relaxing and enjoyable. While it is a short drive to downtown and CDP we very much enjoyed the ability to find some piece and quiet away from all the commotion.
Wow! It's always a risk when you rent a house sight unseen We hit gold It was perfect The view was stunning and perfect distance from downtown and the ballpark We stayed in the other side of the lake last time and this side is preferred (the distance is less and drive is not as frightening with hair pin curves at 50mph in the pitch black!)
Fishing was spectacular Caught a dozen fish (4 different types) off the dock Kids were in heaven. It also has multi level decks-a great added touch The owner was incredible friendly, gracious and very accommodating The house suited our needs: to sleep and get a bite to eat The rest of our time was spent outside enjoying the fabulous lake and baseball See ya in 3 years Greg!!
While my son played baseball in Dreams Park (23 min away) we got to escape to the lake in between games.
We had all the comforts of home PLUS the lake - swimming, boating, rowing, fishing, fire pit, gas and charcoal grill and a deck that over looks it all!
The owners hospitality is exceptional! Couldn't have felt more welcome.
Love the Sleeping Lion!
As Mark Twain might say, you can go to heaven if you want, but I'll stay at the Sleeping Lion. Visiting this this unique Inn was a remarkable experience. With views overlooking the majestic Lake Otswego, a trip to the Sleeping Lion makes the perfect family getaway, romantic rendezvous, or in my case, lakeside luxury for the business traveler. There are ample water sports activities to enjoy, great fishing, easy access to numerous NY businesses and attractions plus you might have the good fortune to see native wildlife like nesting bald eagles. And if you time it right, you can see a moon rise that you will never forget. If this wasn't enough the staff at the Lion make you feel like family. If your plans include time in Cooperstown, NY, the Sleeping Lion is the choice for you.
We had the pleasure of staying at the Sleeping Lion Inn on two occasions and relaxing is the best description. As the mother of a baseball player, I cherished the opportunity to relax by the water with coffee in the morning and cookouts at night. Our family enjoyed fishing, boating, smores, kayaking and more. It was not only a baseball tournament, but a wonderful vacation. The owners are delightful and their genuine hospitality enhanced the experience. I would highly recommend this property and look forward to my next visit.
Sleeping Lion is an easy drive to Cooperstown but far enough away to miss the noise and crowds of village. We are 1 mile south of Glimmerglass Opera and if you are lucky enough to be here the 3rd week of the summer months you can join me at our fly-in pancake breakfast 3rd Saturday of each month.
While you may be here for baseball tournament, museums, wedding, family visit or vacation, The Sleeping Lion offers relaxation for all. Regardless what your interests are you're only minutes away from a nice swim, round of golf, tennis, a nice country bicycle ride or lounge reading a book overlooking the water.
