Overview

About the property

Ideal for families or larger groups that what to be together but with space.

Plaza de la Alfalfa is a magnificent stately Sevillian house which has been carefully restored, just steps away from the square which gives it its name and the perfect location from which to explore this timeless city and enjoy its relaxed lifestyle. The property is set on a quiet street, sheltered from noise and bustle yet surrounded by narrow, lively streets full of traditional shops, bars, terraces and convenience stores. Just the place for taking in a unique environment and rich cuisine all year round.

The property is an original 18th century building which has been carefully preserved down the years and recently subjected to a complex renovation project focused on maintaining all the architectural details of the original construction practically untouched, whilst providing all the modern conveniences you would expect from a quality home. If you are rather partial to architecture, interior decoration and art history, you will be fascinated by the plasterwork and fabulous woodwork throughout; enamoured of the colour and geometry of the tiling on the walls and the terracotta and cement floor tiles; the height of the ceilings and their elaborate panelling, the grandeur of the main staircase …

Houses are no longer built as they were, or so they say… and nowhere is this more obvious than here in Seville. For one, it is truly amazing to find a property of this size right in the centre of town: a full 400m2 to be enjoyed as you please. The building maintains the layout and classic architectural elements of its grand past, but has been cleverly upgraded and adapted to our 21st century lifestyle. Thus, the original lobby has been integrated into the house as the entrance hall; the arcaded patio, with its cloister-like arches and marble pillars and its very own fountain is now a sophisticated summer living room or “al fresco” (yet covered!) dining area; the stunning galleries, with the light flooding in, have been converted into bedrooms or living areas... And what to say of the terraces! The upper floors have been designed to provide access to three stunning terraces, on the third, fourth and fifth levels, perfect for enjoying a quiet evening, intimate dinners, sunbathing, or simply taking in the views.

The first floor of the building has a magnificent living area: the hall with its grand staircase leading to the upper floors, and the patio, equipped as a summer living room with sofas and easy chairs for up to 8 people, a central table, original fountain and natural plants. All bathed in light from the glass roof high above. There is also a convenient guest toilet.

This first floor can easily accommodate up to 6 persons in its three bedrooms. The first of such rooms is equipped with two beds, which can also be used as a double bed, and an en-suite bathroom with large rainfall shower.

The second bedroom has two single beds, while the third, laid out as a small sitting room, has a trundle bed and two easy chairs. These two rooms share a large, fully equipped bathroom and both are spacious, with plenty of storage space to make sure your clothes and your luggage can be easily stored away.

The second floor is also devoted to sleeping space, providing full comfort and total privacy in three separate bedrooms. The first of these has a double bed, of antique burr wood which combines with the wardrobe, the fresh décor providing a contrasting modern look. The en-suite bathroom has a comfortable rainfall shower.

The second bedroom, bright and cheerful, has two single beds and likewise its own en-suite bathroom. The master bedroom, a sumptuous space of almost 25m2, is drenched in light which streams in through three large French windows. The fabulous headboard which stands out in the room acts as a bedside table and a division of space. And, of course, its own en-suite bathroom.

The third floor houses the social section of this superb property: a beautiful arcaded living room, bathed in natural sunlight thanks to the glass roof which tops the house. The perfect place for enjoying a glass of wine with friends, a heated debate, or some quiet reading time.

The sophisticated open kitchen is fully equipped with white goods and top-of-the-range appliances. It has a dining area looking onto the living room, and access to a large 20m2 terrace fitted with outdoor furniture. No excuse: breakfast in the sun is a must here!

There is also a small sitting room equipped with TV and audio system.

The fourth floor is taken up by a huge open terrace which tops the property. There is a second kitchen here with all the necessary equipment to cater for al fresco dining. Beware, you may be tempted to spend the whole day here... The terrace, with an area of some 90m2, has four sun loungers and furniture for accommodating 12 people at the dinner table. There is a shower for freshening up if the sun gets too hot... and superb views over the old city centre. And if this is not enough, you can climb up to a fifth floor, from where you can enjoy 360º views of Seville’s most well-known icons, such as the Giralda and the Cathedral, its many bridges, its skyline of turrets and church spires. Seville, old and new, at your feet.

The Plaza de la Alfalfa, right in the central district of the city, is a privileged spot from which to stroll amongst the contrasts the city has to offer: the old Cathedral, the new Plaza de la Encarnación; the many traditional shops, joined more recently by trendy, hipster fashion shops and restaurants, in what has come to be termed Seville’s new Soho. It is very close to sought-after daytime leisure areas, such as the Plaza del Salvador, next to the church of the same name, which is very popular at lunch time throughout the year, and surrounded by places of interest related to Easter Week fraternities, antique shops and myriad terraces and restaurants where you can indulge in Seville’s rich cuisine.

Excellent but!

Hi

Here is our feedback from our time in Seville.

Service - 3 Star

We booked the apartment and then the taxi through Home at Homes to make sure we got there quickly and easily. This did not work out as the taxi dropped us and directed us to a square which was not close to the property. The lady we were to meet at the apartment ended up leaving to deal with another arrival and it ended up we never got into the apartment until well after 11 pm. Further to this we were then were charged 50 Euros for a late entry. When we checked the website there is no mention of late entry fees! We did find a mention of late fees for the apartment for Air B & B but we were not booked Air B & B.

The WIFI did not work.

Apartment - 5 Star

This apartment is excellent in every way. We were a group of 5 couples and we booked the apartment to celebrate a 60th birthday we wanted something special and we were not disappointed. There are 6 bedrooms and 5 of them have there own en-suit bathrooms, the bedrooms are all a good size well laid out and very comfortable. The style and decor of the building is beautiful very well presented and comfortable, the way the open space rising up from the ground floor to the top level give a easy feel

The biggest thing for us was how cool the apartment was in all areas, when the outside temperature was 36 degrees and you open the front door you were welcomed with a cool breeze on entry which continued throughout the house. This coolness made it very easy to sleep and spending time in the in the communal living areas very pleasant which all added to the stay in Seville.

I would recommend this apartment for a large group of people it works very well and adds greatly to time spent in Seville.

Fantastic location, lots of space!

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful experience here. The location of the home was perfect -- lots of restaurants and bars nearby and you could walk the entire city. There was plenty of room for eleven of us to spread out and have privacy too. Perfect for an extended family or bigger group.
