Have to love this place.
First the basics:
2 bedrooms each with Queen beds. Each bedroom has it's own full bath.
Den on 2nd floor with flat-screen TV and Full sleeper sofa.
Tucked in beautiful Capitol Hill, this restored Victorian has been painstakingly worked over every inch! Ground floor offers great seating space and a well updated eat in kitchen. There is even a heated/ air conditioned glassed -in back porch in which to enjoy your morning coffee year round, along with views of the other historic homes in the neighborhood.
The second floor features a master bedroom suite with private powder room. There is a unique shower in the hall that is original to the house's roots as a boarding house. There is a library/entertainment sitting area between the master suite and the second suite with a private full powder room. This entertainment area features a full size sleeper sofa. The second suite also has a heated/ air conditioned glassed- in upper porch with more views of the other historic homes in the neighborhood.
This renovated century old Victorian town house located in the historic district of Capitol Hill, in a well established and friendly neighborhood just off Lincoln Park, is within easy walking distance of the US Capitol, Library of Congress, Supreme Court, Congressional Buildings, the Eastern Market and Union Station Metrorail (subway) stops and attractions, and it is one block from the City Bus lines. From the Capitol, it is about a ten to fifteen minutes walk to reach the Smithsonian Mall and its Museums. This downtown neighborhood location, convenient to the monuments, memorials, and museums, as well as to government and business, is equally appealing to the tourist and to the business traveler.
The historic neighborhood is home to Eastern Market, which is a landmark in itself and has been operating for over 100 years. There are second and third generation family operated open food stalls inside and on the weekends it has an outdoor flea and antique market, a farmers market, and an arts and crafts market. Capitol Hill with its town homes with flower filled front yards, and its tree-lined streets with interesting and unique shops and neighborhood café and restaurants, offers a friendly, small town flavor and atmosphere, yet it is right in the heart of downtown, Washington, DC.
I love hosting people in my homes in DC. My brothers and I have been providing vacationers comfortable accommodations since 2011. I wanted to create a special business handling exceptional and interesting properties. It is my goal to provide properties that create a magical and whimsical setting while you are in Washington, yet provide the services people need that have busy lives that follow them when they travel ...
Cliff Palermo purchased this townhome in 2013
This location is full of History and is at the seat of world power. It allows easy access to the great historical sights of Washington as well as the business center.
This particular property provides a wonderful experience for someone that really wants to experience a Washington neighborhood and a decidedly American way of life. Many people have stayed at this property from around the world and have been charmed by the special jewel that it is.
The heat worked well, as we were there in one of the coldest days of the year. The owners have everything you need from soap, shampoo, toilet paper and paper towels to full size washer and drier, reusable coffee filters, dishwasher tabs, grocery cart, salt, pepper, kitchen utensils and plenty of bakeware. It was quite easy to come and stay here.
The beds were comfortable, the showers were hot for all 5 of us every night. Even when I was the last to shower. Some people might call the place cluttered, and it does have a lot of knick nacks. We found it interesting and fun, and a great place to spend a few nights.
We had a wonderful stay at this cozy funky chic row house. The perfect place to crash after a day of sightseeing. Beds were amazingly comfortable. The location is perfect. 10 min walk to Metro and within walking distance to the Capital. There was an issue with the parking (working on the alley) and the owner responded immediately and secured a permit for street parking at no additional cost. The neighborhood is safe and it felt like home, for the week that we were there. I highly recommend!
We had a pleasant stay here for several nights. We are surprised by the amount of furnitures and all the decoration here. You should book this place if you want a totally different hotel experience!
Great experience. Absolutely no problems.
Our family of 4 spent three nights at this location and it was perfect for our needs. The walk to Eastern Market metro was pleasant. We used it every day. We found the neighborhood very safe and convenient to all of the major monuments, attractions and amenities. The house is an experience of its own. We could have easily spent days browsing all of the historical mementos carefully placed throughout the house and getting to know more about its history, so I think its safe to say that our only regret is that we didn't have more time. We found the upstairs hallway shower a bit awkward, but it captures the character of the house. We absolutely loved all of the sitting areas especially the beautiful kitchen and screened in, air conditioned back porch. If the washer had not been broken and that hallway shower drain would have been a bit more robust, I'd give this place 5 stars, but it certainly gets a 4 plus! The beds were quite comfy.
We recently brought my parents to experience Washington and stayed here. There was lots of room for 4 adults and they enjoyed exploring the house and all its antiques. The house is approximately 10 blocks to the Capitol Building or to Union Station. It was extremely hot while we were there (note: air conditioning in the house worked great) so sometimes we would walk in the morning and catch a cab back. The cab fare was very reasonable as the house is not far from downtown. It was also walking distance to Eastern Market for an interesting neighbourhood outing.
There was also a CVS and Safeway not too far away to pick up supplies for the week. The kitchen was well equipped and bright and a nice place to start the day. There is a nice park near the house if you are not too tired from all the day's sightseeing. There is parking behind the house which is a plus being so close to downtown but as the ad says it is not too big. We brought my parents Caravan as it was smaller than our vehicle and it just fit. The owners were thoughtful enough to check in with us to see how our stay was going and to see if there was anything that we needed. I would definitely rent this house again.
Couldn't wish for a nicer neighborhood. Nice and quiet with excellent Metro access makes hitting the sights or the Convention Center a breeze!
