About Bruce Blew
Hello! My name is Bruce. Welcome to New Orleans. I am a retired Chemical Engineer, who presently owns & operates The Junque Shop Antique Store in the Faugborg Marigny, at the base of world famous Frenchmen Street. I personally renovated my home in 2005-2006.
Bruce Blew purchased this House in 2005
Why Bruce Blew chose Algiers Point
This is a Raised 'Shotgun' Double built in 1929, completely renovated in 2005-2006. It is located in historic Algiers Point, the second oldest settlement in New Orleans. It was built by a lumber yard owner. The walls are 6 inches thick & reinforced diagonally. The 2006 renovation opened the home to one living area upstairs.
What makes this House unique
My home is an economical alternative to the French Quarter, and yet is just a four block walk or drive to the Algiers/Canal Street Car/Passenger Ferry. Historic Algiers Point is a quiet alternative to the fast French Quarter pace, and yet close enough to enjoy the full benefits of the French Quarter and all of New Orleans.

Loved the antiques. Wish there had been a tv in the sitting area, but overall things were very comfortable.
The home was very clean and everything we hoped it would be.
Bruce was very informative and answered any and all of our questions. We had a great time and are already planning our next trip. The only down side to our trip was the ferry was down Friday and Saturday so we had to drive into New Orleans and pay for parking.
Great New Orleans experience
Bruce was very friendly and his home was perfect for all 6 of us. Family trip for our first time in New Orleans and this home was the perfect location. We were able to walk to the ferry station and after a short ride across the river, we stepped onto Canal Street where we were immersed into the lively New Orleans scene. Coming back across to the house each night, we walked in a safe, lovely charming neighborhood. We absolutely loved our stay, our experience was everything we wanted and more. The full kitchen made it possible to make breakfast for the family every morning. Beds were comfortable and the space gave us all a chance to have our own space. Definitely recommend staying in this home and we will absolutely stay again since we fell in love with the neighborhood and the sights and sounds of NOLA. Thank you Bruce for allowing us into your home to experience New Orleans culture.
Amazing host & perfect location
Our family of 6 adults stayed at this gorgeous house for 5 days & 4 nights. The house is fabulous, comfortable, with a great combination of antique furniture & upgraded bathrooms and kitchen. The neighborhood adorably quaint with coffee shops and bars a few blocks away. The location was perfect! We had a 5 minutes commute to the French Quarter via ferry or a 15 minutes drive by car. This allowed us to take easy advantage of all the fun and interesting things the Quarter has to offer without having to deal with the loud noises and crowds at night. Our host, Bruce, was incredibly reliable from the moment we inquired until long after checkout, when he found a valuable personal item we accidentally left behind and he called right away to meet up with us and return it. We highly recommend this rental and FOR SURE when we come back to NOLA we will rent it again.
Charming and peaceful neighborhood just across river from French quarter
Nice three bed accommodation with dedicated parking. Friendly little neighborhood close to downtown. You can take the ferry or a $10 Uber to get to the French quarter. The place was clean and well furnished. The owner was helpful in getting us situated and had good suggestions for things to do. We loved the old point bar. Great local place with music and character
Quaint Area and wonderful home
This is a great house and great area to stay. We will plan another trip and stay at this home. Everything you need is available. Short walk to a local church, grocery store, cute Irish bar and ferry. This is a 3 bedroom home. NOTE: The only downfall is that the middle bedroom is between the other two bedrooms and you have to walk through either bedrooms to get to the livingroom and kitchen. You can go out through the back door and down the stairs to the front of the house if you do not want to go through the other bedrooms to get to the livingroom and kitchen. The bed in the middle bedroom is VERY squeaky. Other than that we were very pleased!! Thank you Bruce!!
My home is a four (4) block walk or drive to the Algier's Point/Canal Street Ferry. A five minute ferry ride to The base of the French Quarter leaves you by Harrah's Casino, Riverwalk Mall, Canal Mall & Cinema, and a short walk to all of the French Quarter.
