The earliest documents show this house was part of La Roque Alric in the mid 1600s.
With 18-inch thick stone walls and exposed oak beams, Le Sousto is aptly named by the ancient Provençal word for refuge. The entire second floor of a 15-room mas, quiet, private, spacious. The living-dining room has a working fireplace, stereo with CDs, well-stocked bookshelves. Kitchen includes a dishwasher, gas range, pantry stocked with cooking essentials. The master bedroom has a new queen-sized bed, quality linens, an en suite bathroom renovated with marble tiles, a two-person tub and shower. The second bedroom (off the dining room) has a double bed, exposed stone walls. The vine-covered terrace overlooks a flower garden and the village below. Fresh veg and eggs available in season from our friends. La Roque’s only commerce is the lovely Acacia restaurant, offering delicious Provençal lunches and dinners, outdoor dining. A great getaway with just enough buzz to make it memorable, this is a house with its soul intact.
