Great little weekend trip for 2
My wife and I stayed at this charming little cabin for 2 nights. It was small, cozy, comfortable, and within reach of the great outdoors. The owner, Mary, was timely and helpful, and happens to live 25 feet away in her home. This is a nice getaway for a couple seeking a reprieve or escape from the demands of routine!
Great little place
Great escape from everyday life.
Everything was just perfect, Mary was very sweet and informative, a truly wonderful host. She welcomed us the first night, and gave us some good ideas of stuff to do in town, then she gave us our privacy. The cabin was fully furnished and the kitchen had everything needed to cook. It was just so nice to get away to a nice little cozy, place. I am already thinking of when we can make out next trip.
Magical little cabin
Such a lovely cabin! We went for a ski weekend and we loved our stay and everything about this cabin. It was quick drive to Boyne Mt where we spent the day skiing. Would reccomend this cozy little cabin!:)
Staying here was like living in another era. It was a perfect getaway from regular day to day life. We went to Bellaire each day for food and drinks, Shanty Creek for tubing and listened to podcasts in the cabin at night. The night sky is beautiful up here and you can see tons of stars. Mary was a very accommodating host and we would definitely recommend staying here and plan to come back some day.
lovely, magical get away!
we had such a relaxing time and mary is a joy.
Nestled in the beautiful Jordan River Valley, this cozy cabin is a writer's dream. Located seven miles from Mancelona, this woodsy retreat provides easy access to hiking, fishing, canoeing, and skiing. Shorts Brewery, and their famous craft beer, is a fifteen minute drive to downtown Bellaire. Traverse City and Petoskey are just forty-five minutes away. Wander the gardens that are part of the small turn-of-the-century farm, or just enjoy the quiet of the north woods.
The one-room cabin provides an open floor plan, and has a private bath with shower. A full kitchen makes for easy cooking, with many area farmers' markets filled with wonderful local foods available.
The cabin is set apart from the main house with it's own private parking. Guests are welcome to wander the gardens and enjoy the farm's many quiet spaces.
The Jordan River Valley is part of the Mackinaw State Forest and is truly one of the most beautiful wilderness areas in northern Michigan. Its river was the very first to be designated as a wild and scenic river by the Federal government. The Jordan River Pathway provides 18 miles of trails and is part of the North Country National Scenic trail.
Other things to note
Northern Michigan is beautiful in all seasons, but its winters are not for the faint of heart. Antrim County is in an active snow belt area and receives heavy snowfall. The bonus of all this snowfall is many ski resorts are close, such as Shanty Creek and Boyne Mountian. The Jordan River Valley is also a popular area for snowmobiling with miles of groomed trails. The cabin can be cozy but it is an authentic log cabin, with below zero temperatures the floors can be cold. Wool socks, warm slippers are helpful.
