Schooner Sail is an amazing architectural delight. The home is warm and welcoming and very well designed for island living. This 2160 square foot home has living space on two stories with open covered wrap around porches. The home has nice high end finishes and a gourmet kitchen for comfortable living and entertaining. The home is beautifully furnished and equipped with latest TV's with wifi. The home is conveniently located near the club and a short walk to the beach.

The roof top is 40 feet high. There are 360 degree views from the sky deck of the gulf and Pine Island Sound. Watch the sunset, sunrise, bird watching from your sky deck. For your island transportation you will have two golf carts a 6 Seater and 4 Seater.

This vacation rental home is located on North Captiva Island. Remote and undiscovered, North Captiva Island is accessible only by ferry, private boat or small plane. This private island community is reminiscent of old Florida as it once was during a simpler time. Just 3 miles off shore, this tropical paradise is part of the Lee Island Coast barrier island chain in South West Florida. Nearest airport to fly to would be in Fort Myers, Fl. Travel by golf cart or bicycle on our sandy native trails. Here, you will find no cars, no crowds or paved roads. North Captiva Island offers a small town impression with just enough amenities to suite your family needs. Guest would have access to our club pools, hot tub, bikes, kayaks, tennis court, half basketball court, and beach chairs. Beautiful home needs some upkeep - potential 5 star

I have thought a lot about this rating - I hate leaving negative reviews, so I’ve qualified by saying the house could be a 5 if a few things be were fixed. I also figure that these reviews are more for renters than owners - and I’m not being helpful to the next renter if I don’t point out the things that need fixing.

So I started with a 5. The house is pretty, clean well decorated and spacious. It’s right next to the main dock and pool area.

I have deducted several points to reflect 4 key issues:

1). The freezer doesn’t work. We tried to address it over 4 days and it was just frustrating. We lost $50 worth of food and had to spend $250 eating out becaude of the lost food. You have to buy all the groceries before you go to the island - so if you don’t have a functional freezer it throws everything off.

2). The observation deck is missing a spindle. This is a key safety issue. We couldn’t enjoy the top deck for fear of my toddler falling out. The owner should address this dangerous flaw immediately.

3). The grill didn’t work. It was ultimately fixed but after 3 days and 4 or 5 requests. I get island time but again when you plan the week, it should be fixed swiftly.

4). The main golf cart didn’t work and the other one had a separate charger we couldn’t find. We ultimately got a replacement cart from the manager but it was a point of concern and frustration because we are supposed to leave it fully charged and did not, but not for lack of effort.

If the owner deal with these issues I think you have a 5. It’s a great house and North captiva is amazing. But these are some pretty basic functional items that make up a standard relaxing stay in paradise. Best of luck to the owner and to future renters.
