Piglet's House (private carpark) is fully contained on the ground floor, complete with all mod cons. The cottage is spacious, but cosy as there is a log burning stove and full central heating. The accommodation comprises of a hallway, large bathroom including bath with shower over, double bedroom and a living room that is open plan with a well-equipped kitchen, dining area and lounge with awesome views through the 9 foot wide french doors that open onto a balcony with seating and barbeque. Piglet's House is in the quiet village of Old Town which has its own pub, post office (for most provisions), cricket club, golf club, park and equestrian centre all in easy walking distance. The views, peace and surroundings are unrivalled and despite all this, the much-loved and visited market town of Hebden Bridge is only just over a mile away. The town offers so much, from small shops of character to varied restaurants and exciting attractions. Settle in the heart of the Pennines!

  • A good sized double bedroom with lovely views across open countryside to Heptonstall & Old Town. The furniture comprises of a double bed, chest of drawers and double wardrobe. The cottage's private parking/seating area (spacious and private) can be seen from the bedroom window. It is quiet, private and very peaceful. We offer our guests the option of a single put up bed (complete with bedding) which can be put in the lounge if required. We can provide a travel cot if required. (Please advise when booking)

The cottage is superbly located for walking, whether it is the fifteen minute walk to Hebden Bridge, the twenty minute walk to the fabulous National Trust woodland walks of Hardcastle Craggs, historical walks in the footsteps of the infamous 'Cragg Vale Coiners' or the stunning moorland routes. At the end of the day, what better than to relax by a real fire and watch the sun set over the town and moors. We are able to accommodate mountain bikes and offer facilities to bring your own horse should this be required. The area is ideally suited to mountain biking and/or horse riding. We are within a 30 minute horse ride from The Mary Townley Loop.

A lovely weekend getaway

Really nice location. Away from the town centre in the hills but not to far from it either. Local pub only a few minutes walk down the road. Gill the owner was very welcoming. Accommodation was clean and simple, just what was needed for a great weekend break away from the city!

Christmas Holiday

We very much enjoyed our Christmas break in Piglet's House. Gill & Nick were very welcoming and couldn't have been more helpful - Christmas tree and prosecco were most appreciated, as were the makeshift dog beds provided as a result of us having left ours behind! Lovely location with glorious views and we were very glad that the snow didn't arrive until the day after we left as those steep hills could have been a bit tricky in bad weather. Would have been 5 stars but, as mentiioned in other reviews, we found the mattress rather too soft, although do appreciate this is a matter of personal taste.

I am disappointed that the mattress lost us a 5 star rating as we are still awaiting the delivery of a new mattress (from Debenhams). It was scheduled for delivery on a couple of dates before Christmas but is yet to arrive! A long story but hopefully, when it finally does, it will be an improvement. All the best for 2018. Perfect Piglet's House 💛

Today my husband and I returned from a last minute getaway at Piglet's house and couldn't have wished for a better mini-break. From the moment we got there we completely fell in love...initially with four delightful goats (two baby ones) and the stunning views from the building. When we opened the door, we found our spotless, well presented home for the weekend, complete with large glass doors looking out over the fields for miles in front. Gill came to see us around tea time to ensure everything was alright and brought us some logs for the log burner: a beautiful, cosy addition, which was well used due to the blustery weather! We took along our 1 year old beagle, who immediately made herself at home, snuggling in her bed near the fire. The bathroom is large and has a great shower with constant hot running water and the building is heated well. The bedroom is very cosy with super comfortable bedding and mattress. Town isn't far away, although down a very steep hill, but we were advised taxis are good! Totally fell in love with Hebden Bridge and so many places we could take our pooch.

I could go on. We really cannot rate this gem of a find enough and will 100% be back to visit sometime in the near future!

Weekend Stay at Piglet's House

The cottage is perfect for 2 people to stay in. It has everything that you need for a self catering stay. Easy to find, ample parking, quiet, cosy, I couldn't fault a thing. Gill was very helpful with information about the area and even provided a bottle of wine which was a nice touch. I would highly recommend Piglet's House

Piglets House was delightful

Lovely accommodation in a beautiful setting. Hosts were very welcoming. Perfectly peaceful place with beautiful panoramic views. The booking process ( nothing to do with the owners) was complicated but worth the effort.

About Nick & Gill Vile

Hi. I teach at the local primary school in Old Town and enjoy the peace and quiet of our lovely small holding.

I moved to Hebden Bridge in 1987 (for just one year, in fact) but we fell in love with Hebden Bridge as it is so well located & has everything you could possibly need. With terrific rail links to Leeds, Manchester, and many more it became the perfect place from which to commute - to my school in Blackburn while my husband travelled by train to Leeds. So we stayed and bought a little weavers cottage in the valley.

I love horses and animals so was always keen to buy some land and we moved to Carrs Farm in 1999. We lived in a caravan for 2 years while the farm was renovated. We have horses, a dog and a couple of adorable pygmy goats. The farm house took a long time and a lot of work but in 2010 we converted what was a farm building into our holiday cottage 'Piglet's House' It's been a huge success and I love meeting people & welcoming them to stay. Our guests regularly comment favourably on the stunning views from our balcony, the peace and quiet, the cosy log fire, the 'easy to walk to' local pub and how fabulous Hebden Bridge is.

Why Nick & Gill Vile chose Hebden Bridge

Piglet's House is detached and it has unrivalled views across the valley. Stoodley Pike can easily be seen in the distance and the views are across green fields to the East and South with views of Heptonstall with its church to the west. The cottage is in Old Town with its own pub, Post Office, cricket club, golf club, park & equestrian centre. There are stunning walks on the moors above us - within 5 minutes.

It takes about 15 min to walk into Hebden Bridge but 20 + on the way back....as it's up hill!!

However, taxis are easy to book and the fare is about £4 / 5.

There are buses up to Old Town too.

Hebden Bridge is well worth a visit. We believe it has something for everyone. It's generally very dog friendly too.

What makes this cottage unique

Piglet's House is cosy in Winter & cool in Summer. If the weather is good, then a glass of wine or a beer on the balcony provides the perfect chance to relax & unwind. The view is stunning and we often get the most incredible sunsets. The balcony is south / SW facing so it captures the best hours of the day.

Piglet's House has its own car park with additional space for visitors. The parking is very accessible, next to the cottage & off-road.

As Piglet's House is all on one level, it is wheelchair accessible. There is a wood burning stove for the Winter nights although we leave the central heating (with thermostat) on 24/7.

Our 2 pygmy goats are your immediate neighbours. Grantley is a bit shy but his girlfriend, Scout is very friendly. They both adore any guests who give them green vegetable peelings. Many of our guests comment on how much they enjoy watching them from the kitchen window. Children, and most dogs love them!

Nestling in the heart of The Pennines, Hebden Bridge is a quaint market town with a special character of its own; pedestrian area with many unique small shops, a large variety of lovely cafes, many pubs and an amazing variety of restaurants. There are special events such as The two week Arts Festival, Vintage Car Rally, Handmade Parade, Carnival, Hebden Bridge Brass Band and The Duck Race! Attractions include canal boat rides from Hebden's marina, art galleries, Hebden's own little theatre, cinema, antique shops, monthly Farmer's Market and spacious parks. Outdoor activities are extensive! Piglet's House links easily onto the Pennine Way, Calderdale Way, Pennine Bridleway and the stunning Hardcastle Craggs, all of which have superb routes for walkers, mountain bikers and horse riders. Golfers will enjoy our friendly Golf Club. Nearby Hollingworth Lake offers sailing and water sports. Nostalgic visitors will love a walk up 'The Buttress' to Heptonstall - a beautiful, unspoilt village 2 miles from Hebden Bridge. A trip to Haworth (Bronte country) is recommended where a visit to the home of the Bronte sisters is available. Haworth has its own special character with pubs, unique shops and The Keighley and Worth Valley Steam Railway.

Other Activities are on offer: fly-fishing at Littleborough, sailing, canoeing & wind-surfing at Hollingworth Lake, canal boat cruising from Hebden Bridge, roller skating, dry slope skiing, cinema & ten-pin bowling in Halifax as well as superb rail access to Manchester, Leeds, York, Harrogate and Bradford.
