Yosemite Cabin: Scenic and Serene.
Our second visit to this Yosemite cabin was just as delightful as the first. The cabin is exceptionally well-maintained and spotlessly clean, providing a comfortable and welcoming atmosphere. One of the highlights is the view of El Capitan and Half Dome, which are visible right from the cabin. The cabin’s close proximity to Yosemite National Park is also a significant benefit, offering easy access for exploring the park’s natural wonders. This cabin is highly recommended for anyone looking for a picturesque and convenient stay in Yosemite.

Halfdome honeymoon
We stayed here for our adventurous honeymoon, and adventurous it was! Firstly, don’t make the same mistake I did, just read the directions Lloyd sends over. I just figured I would look up where it would be on the map, just read the instructions far easier lol. The valley is about 30 minutes away. In my opinion a lot better than staying in the valley, we would get up early hike and look around, then we would come back to the house in the early afternoon. We summited half dome on our stay and it was the perfect distance as we needed to start the hike at 4 am. And the drive to the home is unreal scenic! The house is stocked!! There was oil, ziplocks, tinfoil, trash bags. We made the mistake of purchasing alot of necessary items so at the end of the week we just added to the inventory. The house is spotless and the bed was super comfy! There is a large meadow in front of the house, not much wildlife our week other than squirrels and lizards but we did have a coyote outside our bedroom window one night! thank you so much for sharing this wonderful home with us and making our honeymoon one to remember!

Yosemite in Your Backyard
Johnson Cabin and its location are both amazing. The cabin is inside the park, so you only have to enter the park once upon arrival. A beautiful 30-minute drive to/from the valley, past stunning waterfalls, changing vistas of the valley, and lots of turn-outs for stopping - plus two tunnels. The cabin was spotless, and the kitchen was the most well stocked we have ever had. Views of El Cap and Half Dome from the living room and the deck. Comfortable beds - upstairs "suite". Lloyd was readily accessible via phone/text, very friendly, and really helpful. Beautiful walks around the cabin, too - Foresta Creek and Falls, vistas from behind the cabin, and up the road from the cabin. Gorgeous peaceful, serene setting - more than worth every penny.

Absolutely the perfect home
We stayed eight nights in September, 2022. The house is perfect. I would never stay in a lodge if I could get this house. It is 15 minutes from the valley and close to everywhere. Hiking in Foresta is gorgeous. The house is stocked as well or better than any VRBO I have stayed at anywhere. Everything worked, everything was clean. Check in and out was simple. Taking the garbage out was nothing. Very easy. If I come back to Yosemite, I will time my trip to make sure we can get this property.

My grandfather and a friend purchased the land in 1955 and built a cabin structure shortly after. I came to Yosemite with my family every summer as a boy and continued through college. There are many wonderful memories of our time at the cabin site.
We have annual family reunions at Foresta with the 5th generation now attending.
I grew up in Santa Cruz, California but now live in Bellingham, Washington. Now that the children (4) are grown, we split our time between home and Yosemite.
I enjoy hiking around Yosemite and want to hike as many trails as I can.

Why they chose this property

We feel very blessed to have a place to stay IN Yosemite National Park. There's no place like it. We love the peace and quiet, the majestic splendor, the numerous trails, the grandeur,... I really like the Sierra Nevada mountains.

What makes this property unique

The large, attached deck is big and wonderful for enjoying the outdoors. The cabin is full of light, open, comfortable and feels spacious for its size. We like the tile floor,
We are one of a few private homes inside Yosemite that has views of the the valley's Half Dome, El Capitan and Cloud's Rest. Walking further up the road (5 minutes) gives you a scenic place to take photos with the Big Meadow and its historic barns, in the foreground and El Capitan and Half Dome in the background.
