2 Old Pound Yard is a newly refurbished sanctuary in the heart of Great Shelford, one of the most popular South Cambridgeshire villages.

Only a few miles south of Cambridge City Centre, Great Shelford has all the facilities you could possibly require, including a Train Station, Banks, Supermarkets, Pubs, Restaurants and an award-winning Delicatessen. There are 2 park & ride sites a short drive away from the property and many cycle paths directly into the city.

Old Pound Yard is a private driveway in the High Street, Great Shelford. There is private off road parking for up to 3 cars and a private walled garden.

The house has been completely refurbished to a high standard and is fully equipped with all home comforts. Managed by the owners, who also live in the village, the house has 3 comfortable bedrooms accommodating up to 6 people, 2 bathrooms incorporating one bath, two showers and shaver points, a living room and separate snug both equipped with wi-fi / Sky Q TV on HD televisions, a fabulous well equipped kitchen/diner overlooking the garden and a utility room and downstairs cloakroom.

2 Old Pound Yard is a perfect home for anyone visiting Cambridge whether for business or leisure. The best of both worlds it offers close proximity to the centre of Cambridge, Addenbrookes Biomedical Campus and Cambridge University, whilst being in a lively village, close to the countryside and with all amenities on the doorstep. With Waitrose, excellent Farm Shops and rural attractions all a short drive away, it is easy to see why Great Shelford is one of the most sought after villages.

About Elise

We have lived in Great Shelford since 2001 and live very close to this holiday rental. We work from home so are usually around to help guests with any queries. We really want you to enjoy the house and the area and leave feeling pampered and refreshed after your stay.

Why Elise chose Cambridge

We love our Old Pound Yard house. Although in the centre of this busy village it is set back from the road and is a peaceful, calm sanctuary. Prior to refurbishing the house completely as a holiday home, we rented it as a long term let and our previous tenants all fell in love with its space and tranquility.

What makes this house unique

Old Pound Yard is walking distance to local supermarkets, pubs, a station, bus stops, restaurants, a park and recreation ground, an award winning Deli, bakery, butchers, banks, chemist and library - to name but a few local amenities. The house has private off road parking for up to 3 cars, right outside the front door. There is a lovely walled garden and french doors from the living room and dining room onto the patio. Another unique factor is the artwork around the house which is all painted by local artist Astrig Akseralian, Elise's sister - and if anything grabs your attention all the paintings are available for sale !

Beautiful and so thoughtfully appointed house

Elise’s house will forever be the gold standard by which I will judge all other properties. Everything was so thoughtfully considered and first rate. Beautifully decorated and so well equipped, we found everything to love and appreciate about this property. Nothing was missing (maybe a blender?) and so much that we thought would not be there was provided. From the welcome basket with breakfast items, fruit, and a bottle of wine, to dishwasher and laundry detergent, toiletries, and so much more. Thank you Elise. I can’t say enough good things about how special you made out stay.

Quality visit

This is a quality house in a quality location, quiet with a great private garden. You cannot go wrong here. There was a wonderful welcome pack, including a bottle of wine, everything you could think of in a house was there. You can really relax and enjoy your holiday. And the pub over the road is great as well.

Beautiful holiday home, very relaxing

The Photo's can not explain the comfort and luxury stay we have had for our 2 night stay. Elise is such a lovely lady, whom has helped me to prepare for relaxing stay for our business trip. Myself and my colleagues have felt very relaxed at her holiday home, every detail and equipment provided.

We most definitely would return and I would highly recommend for a lovely break to Cambridge, far, far nicer then any hotel and only 15 minutes away.

Immaculate, well equipped in a great location

Had a great time with four friends for a birthday celebration. The house was very clean, beautifully decorated and extremely well equipped. Lots of space with a lovely garden to soak up the sun.

Elise was very friendly and communicated well. She was very understanding when we managed to lock ourselves out!! She even left a hamper and basic provisions for our arrival.

Location was perfect - a 10 minute drive to Cambridge Park and Ride (Trumpington) and a short drive to the Orchard Tea room for a delightful afternoon tea.

All in all superb accommodation for a perfect birthday weekend. Would definitely recommend!

Great property

I stayed here for a weekend with friends. It is a great property. Fantastically decorated and well maintained. Plenty of space to park at the rear of the house.

The village is really nice with a few pubs and restaurants only a few minutes walk away. It is only a short taxi ride into Cambridge so is conveniently located.

I would definitely stay at the house again if I return to the area.
