Overview

About the property

If tranquil and a magical sunset over the Gulf of Mexico are what you desire then this is the place for your next vacation. Located directly on the beach on the southern end of the island you cannot help but relax and let life's worries pass you by. Access to the property is by boat only on your own private dock. There are no motorized vehicles on land, not even golf carts.

We meet you at the marina and drive you to the island and pick you up. You arrive at the dock on the bay side of the property. A walk through a beautiful mangrove tunnel reveals…Paradise! This classic beach style home has a very wide porch that wraps all the way around the main floor. The open great room and kitchen have sliders that open up so you can enjoy the view of the ocean while inside.

There are 3 bedrooms with queen-size beds all with their own private bathroom. On the main floor are 2 bedrooms with sliding glass doors that open up onto porches with rocking chairs. Upstairs, on it’s own floor, is the private master bedroom. It has two balconies, one facing east (overlooking the bay) and one facing west (overlooking the Gulf) giving you both sunrise and sunset views!

Please check out the virtual tour and drone footage located at the bottom of the "amenities" page. The island offers several restaurants on the north end, which are about a 3-mile walk. We have boogie boards, corn hole boards, kayaks and a BBQ for the outdoor enthusiast. We also offer free WiFi! Just a couple hundred yard walk south brings you to beautiful Redfish Pass where some of the best fishing in Southwest Florida happens.

If you are interested we have a pontoon boat available for rent at $200/day.

Fishing Charters available upon request!

Please feel free to email us for additional details.

Amazing cottage on the beach

  • 5 of 5

It was a lovely 8 days. We travelled with our 3 kids, ages 12 & 10. We all had a blast. Saw dolphins every day, collected beautiful shells, took the boat out for lunch, played on the beach and saw amazing sunrises and sunsets. Lionel was extremely helpful and always available, if you needed something or had a question (before and during the vacation). We would go back in a heartbeat.

Amazing Property

  • 5 of 5

My family and I just returned from our second visit to Lionel ‘s very comfortable home on the Southern most end of North Captiva(no golf carts or cars). It is an amazing and unique property. The front of the house faces West into breathtaking sunsets over the gulf and out the back door is a path to a private dock where the boat we rented from Lionel is kept. The dock also offers a great hang out spot to fish from. I got in the habit of making a pre-sunrise walk to the point with a cup of coffee to enjoy the sunrise and fish into redfish pass. It is a great fishing spot that few people have access to. I seemed to have the best luck there at sunrise and sunset when I caught several good size trout and snook. We found a boat enhances our fun to explore restaurants, get bait or make all important post dinner ice cream cone runs. Lionel is a tremendous host who’s greatest concern seems to be ensuring everyone is enjoying the island and property as much as he does. He is not intrusive at all but makes himself available by text or in person if requested. He has equipped the house with pretty much any beach toy you can think of including a catamaran and kayaks. We have already committed to a third visit next year.

A very, very special place

  • 5 of 5

We have had the good fortune to have had holidays in many places on most continents, and have found this to be an exceptional spot.

For a week in February there were 7 of us,- 2 grandparents, 2 parents and 3 teenagers. The following week, just us 2 grandparents.

As a full family there was endless activity, with fishing off the dock (and cooking the Sheepshead fish for a superb breakfast), sailing the Hobie cat, skim-boarding, kayaking, swimming and beach games.

After the children left, we had the joy of quiet walks along shell-strewn beaches, and endless fascination with the wildlife ( Ospreys, Sanderlings, Dolphins, Manatees, Egrets, Herons, pelicans etc...).

The house sits 40 yards in from the Mangroves of the dock, and 80 yards from the Gulf waters. There is nothing else to spoil the view. In the morning the sunrise comes in from the Intercoastal Bay to the top bedroom, and the sun sets directly over the beach. There is no interruption of other buildings or people.

Being there 15 days, we needed to provision regularly and found it best to take Lionel's boat to Jensen's Marina on Captiva ( 15 minutes). A $20 fee will secure a mooring for many hours, though you need to leave by around 1530 hours. This can be reserved in advance.

The Island Grocery store is superb. Key Lime Bistro for lunch is excellent.

The Green Flash restaurant is even better, with the advantage of a free dock.

Both places are much better value, and better food than the rather over-hyped Barnacle Phil's on North Captiva.

We did not need AC, though if necessary, Lionel can operate this remotely. The through breeze was superb, even though the weather was hot.

We rented Lionel's boat, which was absolutely necessary to get to restaurants and stores, and it worked well.

The house is very comfortable, with an immediate charm and sense of relaxation.

Perhaps the pervasive memory will be of the early sunrises, and the long sunsets, when there is nothing to disturb the view and the sense of peace, except for the cawing of the ospreys and the low rhythmic pounding of the waves.

Definitely a place to return to.

On top of the beauty of the House, Lionel was always at the end of a phone to provide advice and practical help, such as arranging night time boat transfers, topping up the BBQ gas etc. A great host.

BEST BEACH HOUSE EVER!

  • 5 of 5

We have rented beach houses for many years and this property surpassed them all! We traveled the last week of January for a winter get away. Although the water was a little cool there was more than enough to do. Fishing (more catching than fishing) Redfish pass or off the dock was plentiful and easy even for Jayne and my 8 year old:) Shelling was awesome on our morning walks we always planed to walk to the other end if the island but 1/2 way there we had all the shells we could carry. We seen dolphins playing daily along with moonsets and the sun splashing into the Ocean directly in front of the house. Our 8yo was in front of the house all day every day and we knew he was safe because we were nearly all alone. The boat was easy to navigate with the GPS system. We felt like we had the beach entirely to ourselves. If your like us and don't like crowed, loud beaches (Myrtle comes to mind) then this is a destination you must see. 4 Kayaks, badminton, fishing poles, board games all were used but sitting on the decks was my favorite thing to do.

Thank you Lionel for sharing your beautiful home with us. Jayne is already looking dates to return.

Time ceased to exist

  • 5 of 5

In a desperate attempt to break away from the daily grind, our family booked this incredible beach home as a last minute extended memorial day weekend. The photos, videos and reviews of this place did not prepare us for what amounted to be the best vacation our family has had.

Even during the buisy holiday weekend, we essentially had the beach to ourselves. There were even times where we felt we were the only people on the island. The lack of distractions such as restaurants, shopping centers, transportation, movie theaters, etc. had forced us to slow down and take it all in. The gulf, the breeze, the wildlife, the sunsets. Time ceased to exist where all we had was being in that very moment of complete relaxation and each other as a family.

Our 5 year old and 1 1/2 year old spent hours on the beach exploring and finding shells and wildlife. As a family we caught plenty of catfish, yellowtail and even a sting ray. We took a short trip to Captiva island by boat where we saw manatees. The highlight of the trip is when we spotted a dolphin on our way back, and it came right up to our boat. A moment that will be remembered forever.

Lionel's hospitality demonstrated that his best interest was in the experience we had. The beach house was perfect in size and well kept. The upper level bedroom provided incredible views of both the east and west directions, perfect for sunrises and sunsets. We are so grateful that Lionel opened this home for us to enjoy. Thank you.
