|Minimum Stay||7 nights|
Completely renovated Gulf-front/beach-front cottage allows you to rest or play as much as you want and literally get away from it all. Enjoy spectacular sunsets from the screened porch that will make you feel like you're on a luxury cruise ship plying the tropics. Walk the beach from one end to the other collecting sea shells or swimming or sunbathing.
The home is smartly and comfortably furnished. The bathroom allows you to take a shower while looking out to the Gulf and beach. Bedroom furniture is relaxing and new. Prepare meals in the kitchen while gazing out to the Gulf and sparkling white-sand beach or while visiting with family on the screened porch or in the living room.
Home is a perfect get-away for major holidays or an FSU football game. Or drop a child off at an FSU camp while you and your spouse stay a week at the beach! The cottage is great for a family of four or two couples. Relax and do nothing but watch dolphins and walk the beach or fish or jet ski or play golf nearby or go antiquing at nearby towns (Carrabelle, Crawfordville, Apalachicola) and of course, come to eat the best and freshest seafood in the world!
Was first introduced to Alligator Point by local friends from Tallahassee in the mid-1990's and have been coming to Alligator Point every year since for the Memorial Day Weekend Captain Jack Fishing Tournament that is held at the Alligator Point Marina. By the way, you must visit the End Of The World Oasis at Alligator Point Marina and have a deep fried Grouper sandwich -- the absolute best! And if you catch it, they'll even fry it up fresh!
Chris purchased this cottage in 2011
Because of my familiarity with Alligator Point and the many good times I've had here, decided to finally buy a home. After visiting several homes, all it took was one time out on the screened porch of my cottage to know that this was the place. I always feel like I'm right over the Gulf when sitting on the screened porch. And not only are the sunsets spectacular, but nights with a full moon are also just as stunning!
The views of the gulf and the beach are priceless not to mention the times that I've been able to sit on the screened porch sipping my favorite beverage and actually watch dolphins swim almost onto the beach as they feed in the very shallow water. Absolutely beautiful!
We stayed at this wonderful place the end of October for a week. It was all that we could have asked for.
We especially enjoyed the screened in porch from where we watched dolphins play almost every day. The home was very nice and had everything we could have wanted in supplies. The beach was just literally steps away and we walked along it in near seclusion. If you are searching for a time of quiet and relaxation then Alligator Point is certainly for you and this house a perfect spot. This was our first time to the area and we appreciated the owner's prompt replies to emails and questions. Even though Hurricane Hermine had done damage to nearby properties and nearby road, the home was untouched and in it we found a place of quiet rest. We definitely would stay here again and would recommend this property to anyone visiting the Alligator Point area.
This was one of the best beach vacations ever! The house was perfectly comfortable, clean, and well supplied but the best part was the location. We saw dolphins swimming within 5 feet of the beach! We could have sat and watched the waves, birds, sand crabs all day for weeks. We happened to schedule our stay during the super-moon which could not have been more super than seeing it over the Gulf of Mexico. If you are looking for a place to unwind and connect with natural beauty this is the place!!
This is a very nice beach home. Amenities are comfortable but the location is fantastic. Steps away from the beach. Very private beach! Did a little surf fishing and caught fish every day. Dolphins playing out front every morning. Love the area and enjoyed several of the local restaurants. Tropical Trader was a favorite. Can not hardly wait to return.
Should have been a great 2 week experience, however the owners do not use a management company and appear to live out of state.
In short this was rude, arrogant of the owners to pass on my phone number to their cleaning crew. All for the retrieval of
- a "computer" left by a previous guest (apparently in the locked closet)
- a red dust pan & brush left by the cleaning lady. (This was in the kitchen when we arrived and disappeared the following Friday).
The owners made it out that we had the only key to the property. Not my problem about other peoples forgetfulness, we'll be out on the 20th get it then.. I refused to leave the key while we were out in case it disappeared and we couldn't access the property (it's happened before) as well as that we had our own items in the property
Then followed accusing emails that I have to interrupt my vacation to fit into the owners schedule.
texts to my phone, as late as 11.30pm because I "didn't reply to his emails". Yes, I was on vacation.
I paid you to stay at the property. I am not your property manager.
In another email I was asked to call the cleaning crew and make arrangements. No, I was on vacation and I am not your property manager.
Not good enough for the owner. The owner decided to give out my number to the cleaning crew.
I received a phone call from the cleaning crew that went to VM and I replied by text to the number that "I was on vacation and did not have a schedule, I could not guarantee we would be home, but I guess we would be home 9am-10am Friday".
I assume the cleaning crew found another key and came in to retrieve the red dust pan when we were out of the house on that same Friday. I've had no update since from either party (we vacated on 8/20). All for a red dust pan and brush.
This all started on day 3-4 of our stay, the next 10 days were wondering who else he would give our number to. Not good.
The house functions, it is basically in need of touching up, there is a safety code violation. If you enjoy having a yellow sticky notes of "don't do this" on every turn, tacky tape on the front door so you don't lock yourself out, this may be for you.
My other peeve is paying $100 for insurance. For what? the $10 pooping pelican ornament? Cleaning fees are OTT. Others may leave it a mess we don't. VRBO should implement feedback on guests.
No doubt the owner will respond saying we left the place a mess. We treat every home like our own and we always video before we leave.
Home rental nicely decorated and great surf fishing behind the property, easy access to beach....Chris, the owner, was great to return texts and emails...We had a very special vacation, will be back soon...Wallace
The house was neat and clean, and had all the amenities advertised. Beach proximity is the best we have experienced, The highest tide during our stay was 15 feet from the retaining wall, which is right under the edge of the screened in porch. Fishing was good, with relatively deep water between the shore and a big sand bar a couple hundred yards out. A great property for one or two couples, if you can handle the scheduling of a single bathroom.
Located just South of Tallahassee, Alligator Point is a non-commercial beach made up of single family vacation homes. There are no commercial enterprises(other than the marina) on the peninsula. Most the time you feel like you have a private beach all to yourself. It's like taking a step back in time.
There is ample wildlife to observe, miles of beach to explore and close to restaurants and shopping. The fishing is great right off the beach or on any number of charter boats in nearby Panacea or Carrabelle. It is adjacent to a State Park and federal wildlife area with picnic areas and hiking trails. Also, Wakulla Springs State Park, the Panacea Gulf Aquarium and the pre-Civil War port town of Apalachicola are all terrific day trips.
