Perfect Winter Getaway
My wife and I vacationed to Wilderness Bay the week between Christmas and New Years. We’ve both spent a good bit of time in the Eagle River and Land O’Lakes areas over the years, but decided to venture a bit further north to Watersmeet. The cabin was just what we wanted - quaint, clean, and cozy! There was quite a bit more space than we were anticipating, and it had a fresh feel to it as opposed to the common “old shack” cabin rental. It was well stocked with everything we needed to make and enjoy some home cooked meals.
The setting of the resort is absolutely gorgeous, tucked in a valley on a little bay of Thousand Island Lake. It feels so remote and cozy, but be warned that cell service is limited. The on-site convenience store is absolutely perfect, containing all necessities and even beer and wine. Although we did not make any purchases, Juls’ Sweet Shop was very enticing. Dan had gas for the snowmobile as well, making it easy to refuel at the end of a day on the trails.
Dan, Laura, and Juls were the perfect hosts! They made sure we had everything we needed and gave us all the privacy we wanted. When asked, Dan was happy to provide recommendations for local places to eat and where to rent snowmobiles from. As a nice surprise and gift, Dan delivered a bottle of champagne and some truffles to our cabin on our first night.
We were fully satisfied with our stay at Wilderness Bay and will surely be back. I would recommend to all family and friends. It made for the perfect winter getaway and I’m sure it will be just as great in the summer. Thank you to Dan, Laura, and Juls for all your hospitality!
M&A - Thanks so much for the kind words and great review!
And you are right....cell service is limited in our cabins, but we like to think of that as a plus when you are on vacation! That being said, we are happy to provide internet access in our store and guests can use our phone any time.
We sure hope to see you back again during the summer!
