About the property

2 side by side cottages, 4 bedrooms and spectacular SW view of the lake

There are two chalet-style cottages side by side, both providing spectacular panoramic south-west views of the lake. They are meters apart, with clear walking paths between them and to the parking lot. The main cottage has three bedrooms and is open concept with a high, vaulted, pine ceiling, pine walls and huge windows overlooking the dock and water. It features a large sun room that leads to an extended deck with a patio set, perfect for family meals or relaxing with friends or a good book. The fully equipped kitchen is open to the dining area and includes a dishwasher, large fridge, microwave, coffee-maker and drinking-water dispenser. There is a four-piece washroom with good water pressure and a sky-light. An air-tight woodstove is delightful on cooler evenings.

The smaller cottage also features an open concept living space with vaulted ceilings, extra-large windows and a wrap around deck overlooking the lake. It is air-conditioned and has one bedroom with a four-piece ensuite bathroom. In the large front room is a living room area with a sofa-bed, a dining area and a fully-equipped kitchenette with a two-burner cooktop, bar fridge, microwave, coffee-maker, drinking-water dispenser etc. There is also an air-tight woodstove.

Another highlight of this property is the variety of indoor and outdoor places people may choose to go, for example, to be with groups of friends, or to enjoy quieter conversations and activities such as playing cards, or to spend time alone quietly working on a puzzle. Deck chairs and benches are provided on the two cottage decks, on a third deck located part-way down the stairs to the water, and on the double dock.

What makes this cottage unique

The swimming is fantastic! The lake is deep right from the dock (there are no shallow or sandy wading areas) and there is little boat traffic. The fishing is also great - you just have to find the secret places...

Beautiful view - two comfortable, well-kept cottages

  • 5 of 5

We stayed here with friends and dogs so we enjoyed having the two cottages. The lake is long, beautiful and interesting with islands, cliffs and forest. It was spring so there weren't many boats on the water but there are lots of cottages so we assume it gets busy at times. We enjoyed the screened-in porch since we stayed during black fly season but both cottages have lovely decks, and there is also a dock at lake level. The cottages were very clean and comfortable, and had most of what we wanted. The owner was very responsive. We were just 10 minutes from town so it was easy to pick up groceries or stroll along the Muskoka Wharf. There is a dog park in town and we enjoyed mountain biking and trail running nearby. Great place!

Gorgeous spot

  • 5 of 5

Spent a wonderful week at this cottage (actually two cottages!) Great swimming off the dock, plenty of sunshine and deck space to sit and relax and enjoy the views. The main cottage is well equipped and comfortable. The screened in porch provides bug free enjoyment of the outdoors. The second smaller cottage is within a few steps from the main cottage and is also comfortable (even air conditioned which was appreciated on the humid nights). There are a lot of stairs from the cottage down to the water so you must be mobile to get the most out of this property. I would definitely return to this location.

Wonderful cottage experience

  • 4 of 5

This property was just perfect for our family and my parents - the two separated but adjacent cabin. It is clean and cozy. My kids had so much fun of caneoing in the lake. The wood burning stoves provided authentic cabin living experience and plenty of warmth. Only inconvenient thing is that there was no garbage bin at the road side to store garbages before picking up.

Great Cottage

  • 4 of 5

Enjoyed our stay on Muldrew lake. Cottage was very well equipped and clean. Lots of folding chairs in shed to take down to dock. Very close to town for shopping and activities. Long driveway to cottage bottom has a little hill very bumpy we had a truck so had no problem getting back up there is area at top for car to park.

A true Muskoka experience!

  • 5 of 5

This is a lovely and comfortable pair of cottages in a charming setting on Muldrew Lake, a short drive from Gravenhurst. The second cottage, which has one bedroom, one bathroom and its own kitchen, is a nice benefit, and offers added privacy if the property is being shared by a group. However, I would recommend this place even if you were planning to use only the main cottage. Both cottages have a great view of the lake, and the main cottage has a bright screened room in addition to a balcony, so you can retreat inside when the mosquitoes come out but still enjoy the view.

There were a couple of minor hiccups (e.g. the deck ladder hadn't been installed when we arrived on July 1), but Martin is easily reachable and responsive.

You may want to think twice if:

-you have small children (no shallow water);

-you have accessibility issues (stairs to get into either cottage, and lots of stairs to get down to the dock);

-air conditioning is important to everyone in your group (it's only available in the small cottage).

All in all, staying here was a very enjoyable experience. I would definitely go back!
