Four Bedroom, 2.5 Bath Home W/ 300' Of Private Lake Frontage

Rustic contemporary home with 25-foot ceilings with tons of glass and sunshine. The main floor is a large open space with wide-plank, antique pine hardwood floors and floor-to-ceiling windows throughout the living and dining areas. The fully-equipped kitchen has an open floor plan with views of a wood-burning fireplace and outdoors beyond. Designed as a weekend retreat for writing and relaxation, this house is also great for entertaining or full-time living.

Four bedrooms and two and one-half baths are spread out on three floors for added privacy. In total, the house has six beds (two queens, one full, three twins) and comfortably sleeps nine people.

-- the main floor includes open living room, kitchen, dinning room, two bedrooms (one room with two twin beds with new pillow top mattresses and one bedroom with a new queen bed with memory foam pillow top ) as well as a full bath.

-- the lower level has a separate entrance with a full suite including a pillow-top queen mattress in the bedroom, full bath, living area and a separate twin sleeping area.

-- the upstairs loft opens to the living room below includes an additional full-size bed and half bath.

The house is located on a quiet cul de sac on a wooded one-acre lot with 300' of private, landscaped lake front. House includes a 10' x 20' dock, three kayaks, one canoe, rafts/noodles, outdoor sitting areas, hammock, enclosed organic vegetable garden and 300 sq. Ft. Deck with lake and tree views. The lake is stocked with fish and offers great fishing off the dock or shoreline.

The house includes all the toys including 46’ flat screen tv, blue ray with netflix, stereo, satellite tv, internet, etc.

The house is located in Sleepy Hollow Lake, a private community in Athens, NY (lake: 324-acres, 2.5 mile long). The community offers a lodge, tennis courts, basketball court, two swimming pools, beach, playground, bocce court and 24-hour, on-call security.

Why Robin W chose Coxsackie

I lived in New York City and shortly after 911, decided I wanted a weekend retreat to spend quality time with friends and family and enjoy the outdoors. A friend invited me to her weekend home across the river to go hiking for the weekend. The next week I rented a house on this lake for the winter and bought my house in 2002. It was a very basic chalet with little landscaping when I purchased it. Over the years I renovated the original house, added an addition, built a new dock and rear deck, added a 20' x 30' enclosed organic garden and landscaped the lakefront. Six years ago I decided to sell my apartment in New York city and moved here full time for quality of life. The design and decor is unique and reflective of my personality: warm, inviting and comfortable with an artistic flair. While I've come to realize that it's a little isolating to be here full-time all year, it's an amazing retreat and gathering place which I just adore.

What makes this house unique

I have always loved being on the water and liked that Sleepy Hollow not only offers a beautifully maintained lake, but tons of amenities within the community and close proximity to a huge range of arts, culture, shopping and dining in charming nearby towns to the north, east, south and west. It's also hard to find an affordable, waterfront location that offers a wide variety of four-season, outdoor recreation. The best part is that it is easily commutable to NYC by train or car for weekends.

What cinched this specific property for me is that it has 300' of water frontage and feels very private in the backyard, both of which are rare for lake communities. I saw the potential to turn this house into a unique retreat to bring friends and family together to create great memories.

Amazing weekend getaway

For the second year in a row we rented Robin's home for a weekend getaway from the city. I was original hesitant to write a review because I want to keep it a secret for years to come! Robin has always been a very attentive host and the house is perfect - comfortable, clean and in a great location for quiet, relaxing weekend activities. It really is like all you see in the pictures.

4 Days with Granchildren

As grandparents, we took our 5 grandchildren with us for a wonderful stay in the Sleepy Hollow Lake community. Their ages are 2-7 years. The kids were in awe when they first entered the house. It provided plenty of inside open space for them to play hide/seek, arts/crafts, etc. The house came furnished with children in mind as well as adults. Cheerios in the cabinet, coloring book in the closet, etc.

We found everything clean, and well maintained, the advertisement of the property inside and out was right on target, the colored pictures were accurate and finding the place was not difficult. When it was lights out, we enjoyed a nice glass of wine on the deck overlooking Sleepy Hollow Lake. For breakfast, we enjoyed some of the free trade organic coffees stocked in the refrigerator/freezer. As adults, we would like to return to fully use and enjoy all that was provided with this amazing house.

We took our grandchildren to the Fireman's Museum in Hudson-great hands on program for their ages-, the property's swimming pool and beach site and picnic grounds, the Athens town playground, the ferry ride across the Hudson River-all within 10 minutes or less from the house. Our longest excursion was to the scenic RR outside of Kingston, NY in Mt. Tremper- 1 hr away. The location offered ideal experiences for our kids. The BBQ worked very well and lunch and dinner was taken on the deck. The dining room table was full sized in a bright sunny location of the house which we used for breakfast.

The security locked entrance did give us trouble, but a spare key was easily found to open the front door. The owner sent a welcome email the day of our arrival asking us if we needed anything and another email the day of our departure asking us if were happy with the accommodations. Our needs were minimal due all that was provided for our use. The care and concern expressed was a sign to us that we could enjoy the house to it fullest which we did.

We recommend this property to anyone looking to enjoy a relaxing vacation in a quiet neighborhood environment.

Loved this house!

I rented this house for a large group of old friends (10 of us), and it was absolutely perfect. I'm actually not sure the pictures do it justice.

It's in a quiet area, has plenty of room, and the living room/main area is spacious enough to allow everyone to hang out together without being crowded. The kitchen is adjacent, which makes large meals easy as well.

It's close to some decent Catskills hiking, as well, of which we took full advantage.

Perhaps most importantly, the owner was very easy to work with and made the whole process a pleasure. I hope to have the opportunity to stay here again.

Located just 2.25 hour drive from new york city and 3 hours from boston, this home is a perfect weekend getaway from the city.

The towns of athens and catskill are 10 minutes and 15 minutes away respectively, with restaurants, bars, shopping, grocery shopping, movie theater, bowling, microbrewery and easy access to the hudson river. The thomas cole house and olana museums are 15 minutes away,

The charming towns of hudson (with an amtrak station) and saugerties are each 25 minutes away and offer upscale restaurants, arts, entertainment and world-famous antiquing, farmers markets.

Woodstock, rhinebeck and albany are 40 minutes away and offer more great restaurant, performance centers, museums, shopping, bars and music.

The berkshires are less than one hour away with art galleries, tanglewood, jacobs pillow, kripalu, numerous theaters, massmoca, festivals and arts events.
