We look forward to your stay!
This rental was truly a "home" and included everything we needed & then some! Kitchen towels & soap, dishwashing and laundry detergent, flour and sugar, bowls/pots/pans, sheets, bath towels & blankets, vacuum and cleaning supplies were all provided. We only needed bar soap for the showers and table salt (although there were plenty of black pepper and other spices in the cupboard). The cabin was sparkling clean & so cozy-looking when we arrived. We really appreciated your acceptance of dogs at this site - I'm amazed that you're able to maintain such a clean-smelling and wonderfully kept home with renter's pets coming & going, but it worked! The gas fireplace was not operational during our stay, but we really only needed it for that first chilly night. We used the heating system instead. The weather was great for us so we got to visit the Cumberland dam, fish hatchery, Lake Cumberland's State Park with interactive science center, and the Natural Bridge in Jamestown besides eating at Coe's Steakhouse for a bustling local hangout.
The kids took three adventurous hiking trips to the lake from the cabin and found all kinds of geodes. Although I didn't make the attempt myself, I heard that it was quite steep and probably shouldn't be done unless you're experienced. They loved the freedom, challenge, and adventure of the hike.
Thank you for sharing your treasure. We made memories to talk and laugh about for years to come.
If quiet and seclusion is what you seek, this is a place to consider. Located in a gated development, it is situated 20 minutes from civilization. Perfect for quiet walks and safe bike rides. Deer, turkeys and lots of birds will be your neighbors.
House was clean, save an invasion of Asian Lady Beetles! Be sure to bring your own paper goods (only TP was provided) and spices, some might be left behind, but don't count on it. Plan accordingly as the nearest store is 20 minutes away (one way). House is showing some wear and needs a few updates here and there, but overall our stay was pleasant.
We recommend the nearby Country Cafe for great catfish and friendly service. State park is on the other side of the lake and 45 minute drive. We also visited Fairview Baptist Church in Russell Springs. Folks were very friendly there.
Even though the lake is visible, the nearest access is 15-20 minutes down the road. There was not really any place to fish that we could find. You can rent pontoon boats at the marina there.
My husband and I suffer from knee and back problems, so we did not utilize the upstairs or downstairs. That said, we still had plenty of space and amenities on the main floor. Enjoyed the deck many hours. Beautiful property with privacy and seclusion, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay! Thank you Jamie for sharing.
Our stay was very nice. We were surprised when we arrived to a beautiful gated community in the middle of nowhere. The cabin was very clean and comfortable. Everyone commented how comfortable the beds were! The kitchen was nicely equipped with everything we needed, except the toaster didn't work; but we managed. A cabin that accommodates 8 should really have a larger table for all to sit. It was definitely helpful to have the extra card table and chairs. Extra chairs on the deck would be helpful too. Viewing the stars at night was wonderful! The only one real annoyance was having to take our trash and find a place to dispose of it, but we managed. All-in-all we had a wonderful week relaxing, reading, talking, communing with nature, a day on Lake Cumberland, and some of the best catfish we have ever eaten at Coe's restaurant in Russell Springs!
This cabin was perfect for our group of 6 adults and 2 teenagers. We could have easily fit another couple or two on air mattresses as well. It was very clean, and a really great layout with an open kitchen and living room.
The owner was very responsive to questions, and the listing was correct as well, except in one picture it says the grill is propane but it's really charcoal. Luckily there is a gas station you pass on the way in and they have charcoal (and beer -- I'm not sure about the reviewer who said it was in a dry county, but you can find beer within a 10 minute drive of the cabin).
My only word of advice is make sure you rent a boat ahead of time if you're travelling during the peak season. We called a few days before we came down and literally found the last available pontoon on the lake (out of 8 marinas) at Beaver Creek, which was an hour and a half drive to the opposite side of the lake. However, if you call far enough in advance, this cabin is really close to the Alligator 2 and Jamestown marinas.
We also went to the SomerSplash water park in Somerset, which was about 40 minutes away.
I would absolutely recommend this cabin to friends, and we would definitely stay here again the next time we come down to Lake Cumberland.
Loved this cabin so much. Had everything we needed. We appreciate how clean the cabin was. There's plenty of room for several people. The view was just gorgeous. Enjoyed the Country Cafe. They have good food. We rented a pontoon from Alligator 2 and enjoyed that so much. Lake Cumberland is so pretty and peaceful. We might just stay here again some day.
Quiet and secluded with convenient access to marina and affordable entertainment including Mammoth Cave, bowling, go karts, mini golf, movie theater, roller rink and live theater.
