About Fiona Goodsell
We are Steve & Fiona Goodsell and we have one son, Scott, who is 16 years old. We live in Wales but sometimes dream of moving to Barbados because of it's friendliness, slow pace of life and fabulous climate all year. We originally visited Barbados for our honeymoon in 1994 but could not resist returning time and time again. Steve runs his own Property Services Company and Fiona is a part-time administrator. Whilst in Barbados, Steve enjoys watching a local cricket match, fishing off Skeetes Bay, or in the evening he can be found drinking rum and playing dominoes with the locals. Fiona's favourite day out is a visit to The Crane Hotel for lunch or relaxing at Bottom Bay/Crane Beach. Scott likes to play in the pool, go to the beach or sail on a catamaran and swim with the turtles.
Fiona Goodsell purchased this Villa in 2006
Why Fiona Goodsell chose Bayfield
We discovered the villa half built in 2005 and although we did not intend to take on a building project at that time, it was an opportunity not to be missed, as it was in an idyllic peaceful location and the internal layout was great. So we knew that this would be ideal place for us but also a place that guests would enjoy because of it's privacy and chance to experience the real Barbados including monkeys playing in the trees alongside the villa. A walk across country to Skeetes Bay has great views across Culpepper Island and up to East Point Lighthouse. The East Coast is on our doorstep and a short drive away is St John's church and the view from there over to Bathsheba is stunning. A visit to The Roundhouse in Bathsheba is not be missed and neither is the view from Cherry Tree Hill.
What makes this Villa unique
Privacy & Peacefulness making it suitable for couples but it is also a very social villa too as it is large enough for 2 families to share. There are 3 separate patios so it can be as social or as quiet as each guest would like. This location gives guests the chance to experience the real Barbados and most guests love seeing the monkeys playing in the trees alongside the villa.

Amazing holiday at Lazybones!
We had a wonderful family vacation in Barbados and the villa was perfect for our needs. We were 4 adults and 2 kids and there was plenty of space for all of us. The area is very quiet and secluded and perfect for a family getaway. Being on the Atlantic side, the cool breezes were perfect during the hot days. We thoroughly enjoyed the pool and it was very well maintained. I loved laying in the hammocks at the top of the house and reading my book, which also has a stunning view. The kitchen is super spacious and had all the necessities for us to prepare our meals. Having access to amenities such as laundry, tv and wifi were greatly appreciated. The villa is only 20 minutes away from the bustling Oistins where you can enjoy the “Fish fry” and buy fresh fish at the market. Bridgetown is only a 30 minute drive and it is only a 20-25 minute drive to the airport. The villa is well located to visit many of the attractions in Barbados. It is easy to get to so many of the beautiful beaches such as Bottom bay, Dover beach and Crane Beach which were some of our favourites. The villa is also just a 5 minute drive from the Deeble’s Point Art Gallery & Cafe which is a must visit, not just for the beautiful art but the wonderful cheesecake. I would highly recommend staying at Lazybones if staying in Barbados!
Great family villa
We stayed at the villa for 11 nights as a family of 6 adults and 4 young children. The villa is perfect for families as it has everything you could possibly need including travel cot, high chair, baby gates and lots of indoor toys, books and beach toys which meant we needn't have brought anything with us. The children loved the pool and it was the perfect size, with steps and a handy ledge for them to play on. It was a little chilly in the pool in the afternoon, I assume due to the time of year we visited, but this did not deter the children as we could not get them out of it! The villa has plenty of sun beds and a lovely outdoor eating area which easily seats 8 and a gas grill so we spent most our evenings cooking outside and relaxing at the villa. We saw the local monkeys playing in the nearby trees early in the morning a couple of times - the upstairs terrace is a great viewing point for them. Fiona was a great host providing lots of communication before we arrived which ensured we found the property without any problem and therefore had a smooth beginning to the holiday. The housekeeper also arranged for a few provisions for us upon arrival which meant we didn't need to worry about finding shops etc until the next morning. A car is a must if staying in this villa but driving is easy, laid back and we always felt safe.
I would highly recommend this property for a family holiday in Barbados.
I am so glad you had a good time and that the villa worked well for your large group.
Thank you so much for taking the time to write such a comprehensive review, we really appreciate it. Your review will be very helpful to future guests making enquiries about a possible stay, so thank you so much and Happy New Year to all of you. If you fancy another trip out to sunny warm Barbados, we would love for you to stay again. Best Wishes for many Happy Holidays in the future.
Everything that you would want.
We stayed at Lazybones in Marley Vale in July 2018. The Villa is located near the Atlantic Coast so you get a lovely sea breeze which keeps the Villa cool at night. The Villa has plenty of everything including beach towels, cutlery and glasses, and everthing was in good working order. The internet was good and they have a great selection of DVDs to watch. Every evening around 5pm the Monkeys would come out and play, which was great for the kids.
our stay at Lazy bones was perfect from the beginning to the end.
Firstly communication with Fionna was great, informative and helpful. She helped to arrange a car rental and provided me with extra information regarding the property layout so I could allocate bedrooms.
We was warmly met by Sheila at the property, who again provided a wealth of information and it was comforting to know she was close by in case of any problems. Special thank you to Sheila for allowing us to check out an hour earlier at short notice.
The Villa is beautiful, very peaceful and perfect for a family holiday. Everything has been thought off and provided for a lovely stay. There are lots of games, toys and cutlery for children. The layout meant that there was ample space for our two families not to feel on top of each other.
The pool was a great size and was cleaned regularly during our stay. The upstairs balcony with the hammocks provided a very cool and peaceful secluded area with a stunning view.
The nearby spring provided an exciting adventure for our family and we loved seeing the local animals such as the black belly sheep and monkey's.
Great value for money and would definitely recommend to those looking for a peaceful get away.
Lovely villa in a rural setting, with privacy and gorgeous views
My two sons (14 and 11) and I stayed a week at the villa this April and we were absolutely thrilled with our vacation. The villa is clean, attractive, and had everything we needed, including a dishwasher and washing machine. The delightful ocean breeze kept us cool and very comfortable. We saw the playful monkeys in the field or woods at least once per day. The pool is in excellent condition. We felt very safe in the neighborhood and enjoyed the quiet and privacy of the villa. We ate every meal on the outside patio. Sunrise and evening walks down the path to the ocean cliffs and beach is a must!
With renting a car, daily trips around the island were not a problem. We were able to see all four coasts during our stay. The property owner and housekeeper were friendly, accommodating, and quick to respond to our questions. Our family would certainly rent Lazybones again!
On the South East Coast in a peaceful idyllic location, in walking distance to Skeetes Bay &, Ragged Point/East Point Lighthouse. 5 minutes drive to the beautiful Bottom Bay, 10 - 15 minutes drive to Sam Lords and the famous Crane Beach. 3 min drive to the local shop which only stocks basic food supplies but it is only a 15 minute drive to Six Roads where you can find a supermarket, bank with cash machine, pharmacy, post office, petrol station, fast food outlets plus children's play area. It is 20 minutes drive to St Lawrence Gap on the South Coast or the villa is an ideal base for also exploring the scenic East Coast and Bathsheba is 20 minutes drive away. If you prefer to chill out, you can simply relax by the pool and watch the monkeys playing in the trees alongside the villa. In Barbados, Cricket is a passion so if you like to watch a game and have a drink or two, there is a local club less than a mile away.
