Overview

About the property

Typical country house with pool in the wine area of Montecarlo

Serendipita is situated just outside Montecarlo, an unspoiled hilltop village about 10 km away from Lucca. Situated in a beautiful Tuscan landscape surrounded by olive trees and vineyards it is within walking distance of Montecarlo and San Salvatore, ( with its local train station ) or 2 minutes by car. Pescia, Altopascio, and Montecatini are nearby.

The house sleeps 9 plus baby cots. 2 additional beds are available upon request.

One bedroom and one bathroom are on the ground floor and offer easy access for people with wheelchair or with walking difficulties. There is level access (no steps) from the outside, to all the ground floor rooms, thus including this bedroom.

3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms are on the first and second floor.

Children are a priority. The stairs are protected with gates, children books and many games are available for them both inside and outside in the pool area. Other items available are cots, highchairs and car seats.

Last but not least, the house has a fantastic atelier (studio). There you can develop your artistic preferences be it painting, due to the breathtaking views or working with clay or other materials. This also represents an unique opportunity for groups interested in spending creative holidays, and for teachers who would like to organize art lessons combined with a delightful holiday.

Moreover, two important works of art are present in the property. In the grounds beyond the swimming pool is a Modern Dog, carved in Carrara marble by Delfina Nargang, wife of the late Nathaniel Kaz, the well known American sculptor who worked in Pietrasanta and New York.

The other work is the Montecarlo Mural taking up one wall of the living room, by Meg Harris-Williams who is well known in England as an author and artist. (See also Meg@artlit.info) A key is available to explain the sources and allusions depicted in this mural, including the Bible, Dante, Milton, Blake, Giorgoni, Piero della Francesca etc etc.

Outside, in summer, you can have lunch and dinner in the shade of a large roofed airy outbuilding, and enjoy a BBQ or a pizza made in a traditional oven. The vast garden also offers many places for anybody to relax, read a book or have a walk in the shadow of the trees.

On request we can organize a babysitter, a cook, excursions in the near surroundings or in the Chianti area, a day at the beach in Forte dei Marmi, concert tickets, reservation of restaurants, hairdressers, SPA and many other services to make your holidays unique.

The villa is fantastic and was really great for the kids it had a variety of toys and games as well as child gates. The studio is a great space for doing work in and has excellent light.

A spacious rustic house in a great Tuscan location!

  • 5 of 5

This is a lovely property a short walk from the village of Montecarlo. There were five of us - all adults and plenty of room for everyone - even enough bathrooms for us all to have some privacy. The kitchen was well equipped (apart from some weighing scales which would have been useful when we made our own pizza and pasta!) outside there is a lovely swimming pool, a pizza oven, a covered area and a table tennis table. There is plenty of space for cars and there is also a pottery studio, but due to the heat and infrequent use, the clay was solid. If you want to use the clay, soak it in a little water early on as it takes several days to get to the right moisture for use.

Manuela, who showed us in, was helpful, friendly and accommodating, and her English was excellent! There was plenty of information about the house itself. Get to grips with the recycling timetable and put things out the night before - they collect very early!

We would have found it useful if there had been some information about Montecarlo though - a map (we left ours for the next guests), and details of shops, post office, local markets etc. And perhaps ideas of local places worth visiting. Luckily we had pre organised a wine tasting tour and this helped us to find our feet in the area. If there had been a little prior information in the house, I think it would have been very useful. All in all, we had a fantastic 10 days in Tuscany and Serendipita was a great base with everything we needed. I'd stay again! Thank you 😊?

Plenty of character with an authentic homely feel

  • 5 of 5

Serendipita has a feeling of a real home, as if you have borrowed your family friends villa. It's very relaxing and peaceful and the home is dotted with books, travel guides and artwork that give the house a personal touch. This isn't a display rental property but a real home. The pool is fabulous and the grounds are a lovely rambling mix of olive groves, vineyards and lavender. Manuela the host couldn't have been more helpful, even finding us much needed tonic water for our gin. The owners were new to renting so Manuela was always available if we had any questions. The location is a fantastic base for exploring this northern part of Tuscany and only a 500mt walk to the little hilltop town of Montecarlo. We had some wonderful meals there mingling with the locals. We will definitely be back

Great place, especially for families with children

  • 4 of 5

Our week at the house was great and in nice surroundings. It´s close to nice restaurants and fattorior. There are many things for kids and the pool has s deeper part and one more shallow.

The outdoor cantina is great for breakfast and dinner and a game of table tennis. The house is very cosy and well built so no sound travel between floors. It was better than the description and I highly recomend a visit to the house.
