About Christi Sickel

Water's Edge Lake Home is a cabin that is treasured by family members of all ages. Water's Edge was originally purchased as a one-room family cabin over 30 years ago. Through the years, Water's Edge has expanded and has served as a haven and year-round home for a family of 7. Currently, Water's Edge is lovingly referred to as 'Grandma's Lake' by the owner's 13 grandchildren.

Christi Sickel purchased this cabin in 1976

Why Christi Sickel chose Minnesota

Be awakened by the call of the loons....Drift to sleep with the backdrop of a breathtaking sunset.

What makes this cabin unique

Water's Edge offers one of the best sand beaches on the lake with countless leisure activities. Build sand castles on the shore, take a dip in the refreshing water, relax in the sun, fish for walleye off the dock, and unwind in the cedar sauna. For an unforgettable experience, take a sauna and then plunge into the water!

At the end of the day, roast marshmallows and make s'mores by the lakeside firepit with the backdrop of a breath-taking sunset. Let the waves lull you to sleep as they 'lap' the shore outside your bedroom window.

Endless activities for all seasons. Take in the bold, crisp colors of the fall leaves. Enjoy cross-country skiing, ice fishing, and snowmobiling in the winter. Giant's Ridge Golf and Ski Resort is only 45 miles away.

No matter the season, Water's Edge is an exceptional vacation spot for families. Water's Edge is 'The Ultimate Lake Escape!'

Fantastic Lake Home!

  • 5 of 5

We just returned from our week at Water's Edge - what a fantastic lake home!! It easily accommodated a large group - there was room for everyone to sit and relax, to eat our meals together at the large table, to have a comfortable room to sleep, and plenty of chairs outside to enjoy the beautiful lake view!!

The first part of our week was pretty rainy - but sitting by the fireplace was nice and cozy for the girls, while the guys enjoyed watching football on the big screen tv. The latter half of the week was dry, and the fishing was fantastic! The fall colors were just beginning, making the lake even prettier than usual.

The cabin was supplied with everything you need - we really appreciated that. Typically we haul up a fair amount of stuff when we go to the lake - things that we've learned aren't typically at most cabins. But you had it all - so the next time we come we won't need to pack as much - Love that!!!!

We launched our boats at the Birch Point Marina - it had a nice setup, and the owner was there helping to drop the boats in and pull the boats out - you couldn't ask for better service.

So overall we loved out week at Waters Edge and will definitely come back again!! Thank you for sharing your fantastic lake home!!!!!

Extended family of ten. 6 adults, 4 children (age 10 and under)

Words cannot fully tell the story of our week at your cabin-it was awesome. Your correspondence and directions for us were easy to follow. Your cabin booklet (on the table was very helpful).

One of the highlights for the boys was when your husband brought the kayaks. What lessons in learning how to use them and how to share. The hours in the water were many.

Your facilities were beyond expectation. All of the adults had a turn in preparing a meal- both inside and with the fire pit.

The rental property was accurately represented in appearance and amenities.

Would recommend visiting : The Wolf Center in Ely. The Vince Shute Wildlife Sanctuary operated by the American Bear Association in Orr,MN.

Water's Edge - Incredible!!!!!

  • 5 of 5

Our week at Water's Edge was far beyond any expectation that we had and this was including the fact that of our seven days about half were rainy and half were sunshine. There really are no words adequate to describe the feeling that comes over you as you "unwind" and fall into the beauty and peacefulness of Water's Edge. It is very obvious that this beautiful family home has been equipped with care and concern for their guests' comfort and convenience. The bedrooms are all very large and just as the photos and descriptions portrayed them. The kitchen space was phenomenal and being able to have all eleven members of our family around the dining room table with a view of the lake was terrific. We have no recommendations for nearby activities, attractions, or restaurants because no one wanted to leave our peace of heaven except to be out on the pontoon boat that we rented for the week. The owners were incredibly helpful with information relating to our rental home, recommendations of items to bring, driving directions, and, also, provided a notebook (in the home) full of information addressing every possible subject we might have during our stay. It would be hard to say what one thing was the most special because all of it comes together to make it the perfect place to relax and enjoy the days spent with our grandchildren and children.

Great Lake Vermilion Get-A-Way

  • 5 of 5

This large and spacious lakeside retreat is welcoming from the minute you step foot in the door. It was a great place for a weekend get-a-way with friends. The listing accurately describes the location, appearance, and amenities. The home is spotless and well-maintained. Though this lakeside home is quite large, it has a very comfortable and intimate feel to it and made me feel right at home. It can comfortably accommodate 10-12 people without being crowded in any way. Bedrooms are private, roomy, and comfortable. The living spaces (living room, kitchen/dining room, & sun room) work well for small or large groups. This lovely home is located right on the shores of beautiful Lake Vermilion, one of northern Minnesota's premier lakes, and would work well for a weekend or vacation during any season. It is a perfect place to avail yourself of all the outdoor activities available in the area or just outside the door, and just as perfect if you enjoy sitting by the fireplace or in the sun room reading a good book. This would be a great place to do so many things: swimming, waterskiing, fishing, jet-skiing, boating, sailing, ice-fishing, snowmobiling, cross-country skiing, hiking, checking out the beautiful fall colors, or bird watching, just to name a few. The owners are helpful, gracious, and accommodating. They really want you to enjoy your stay. I would highly recommend this property as a vacation or weekend destination.

Thanksgiving at Waters Edge

  • 5 of 5

This is the third year our family has enjoyed the use of the cabin at Water's Edge. The owners have been excellent about getting information, directions, to us. The house is well maintained and clean. It is decorated with fine bedding, and nice furniture, but comfortable to have a family there. I like the large areas for groups to be doing different things, watching the football game, or kids working on the large table with an art project, while the parents sit around the fireplace and visit. The kitchen works well for a large crowd, to set up a buffet. When you are there, there is a sense you should just relax and visit. We highly reccomend the Water's Edge.
