About Sophie Jakobson

We are Sophie and Alex, a British couple living in Brooklyn who fell in love with the very English feel of the Hudson Valley, its wonderful proximity to New York City and this house's wonderful old charm. We have two little'uns.

Sophie Jakobson purchased this farmhouse in 2012

Why Sophie Jakobson chose Clinton Corners

We love the old charm of this property with its views of the rolling hills and its shady landscaped garden and stunning swimming pool.

What makes this farmhouse unique

The house has two living rooms, so it always feels spacious, a large eat in kitchen as well as a large dining room. A fabulous outdoor pool and a sauna, giant trampoline, table tennis and toy filled playroom. The perfect retreat for entertaining groups and families.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Ideal setting for an active family! With six adults and 3 children under 10 and our dog, we could not have wished for more. We loved the grounds, the well stocked playroom, the pool and the location. A very helpful notebook gave us all the hints we needed for finding food and excursions.

Very kid friendly house with the playroom

  • 5 of 5

The active wood burning fireplace was great for a cold winter weekend.

The house has everything you need.

The only note I would mention is that the house has Tv but not regular cable, Netflix only.

Wonderful home, full of charm!

  • 4 of 5

We had an absolutely lovely long weekend at this property. We were six adults, three 3-year-olds, a crawling baby, and a small dog, and we all fit very well. The house was beautiful and well-appointed -- everything in a way that blended old and new.

Things we loved:

-outdoor space (esp. trampoline and hammock)

-beautiful and well-appointed kitchen

-THE PLAYROOM (we could've left the 3-year-olds in there for hours!!)

-ability to close off the driveway for increased safety and privacy

-big dining area

-kid-friendly everything (pack and play, high chair, utensils/dishware, toys, etc)

-very friendly and responsive host

-generally knowing we were in someone's home, and enjoying the little touches of personality (I've stayed in some places that exist only to be rented out, and they feel so sterile! this felt like staying in your friend's home)

Didn't love:

-low ceilings (if you are taller than 5'10", you WILL hit your head in the kitchen or on the way up to the bedroom over the kitchen)

-limited ventilation options when the weather's warm

A great getaway in the Hudson Valley !

  • 5 of 5

My family had a wonderful time in this house. It's a gorgeous house, very spacious and well equipped. My kids had a blast in the playing room - no need to pack toys !

We really appreciated the evenings in the living room, around the very nice fire place.

We hope to come back during summertime to enjoy the swimming pool !

Wonderful stay great home and location

  • 5 of 5

We loved our stay, we had our 2 young children with grandparents and my sister with us and it was perfect.

It's 4 bedrooms with the ability I think to turn another room into one (we didn't). The playroom is great, eat in kitchen lovely, amazing fire in the main living room. My husband used the extra sitting room with the TV to work as his office away from the kids and loved it.

The only TV is in the 2nd sitting room, so little difficult to work and let someone watch TV at the same time if a larger group and need that. The grounds are spacious, it looks like would be beautiful in the summer (we stayed in November)

Location is great, local farm and vinyard, riding stables and deli / cafe are walkable (vinyard few mins car). Bunch of towns 20-30 mins drive away.

Sophie is a great host easy to contact and made our stay perfect.

I would recommend.

Charming farm house with great amenities

  • 5 of 5

We went here for a long weekend with my extended family and loved it! This farm house is truly beautiful and extremely well-appointed. It was a treat to cook in such a well-designed kitchen too. The place also has ample room for different hangout spaces from the formal sitting room to the green TV room to the playroom.

The place was especially well-outfitted for kids! Our 3 toddlers absolutely adored the playroom, and because it was so well-stocked, we parents didn't have to pack any toys! The kids also LOVED the big outdoor trampoline. Can't wait to come back in summer to experience the pool!

We also appreciated the many adult amenities in the house -- sauna, good wifi, and high-grade stove!

Also, the owner was very accommodating in helping us switch dates at the last minute due to an illness in the family.

My family is already dreaming about a return trip!

Our stay was perfect. The house was spacious, true to the description and completely child friendly. The garden and pool were our favorite though, so beautiful. We spent most of our time in the pool or at the farm down the road visiting the llama. Sophie made sure that everything from the initial booking, to the check out was easy and that we were comfortable. We highly recommend you stay here!

Our house at Clinton Corners in located in the beautiful Hudson River Valley, about an hour and a half north of Manhattan. It is an amazing area- so much to do and see.

There are many historic homes that are open to visitors. Worth visiting are The Roosevelt Mansion - home of Franklin and Eleanor Roosevelt, The Vanderbilt Mansion, Olana- the Persian inspired home of the painter Frederic Church, and Mills Mansion which has a fabulous sledding hill sloping down to the Hudson River.

The quality of fresh local food and really fine restaurants here is incredible. There are winery’s, cheese -makers, grass fed organic meat’s of all kinds, family run farms and orchards. Millbrook has a wonderful farmers market on Saturday which is worth checking out.

If you are partial to a spot of antiquing then look no further than the town of Hudson, Millbrook or Saugerties and if you like walking then the beautiful countryside alone is definitely worth checking out.
