About Luke Otten

This authentic log house is an expanded version of the original settler's two room log cabin built in the mid to late 1800's outside New Haven, MO. Its massive hand hewn oak beams were disassembled and moved from the cabin's original site on the farm and reassembled at its current location in 2006. This beautiful log home has been reincarnated as a modern farm house situated on a 400 acre working farm in a peaceful rural setting outside New Haven. For those visitors wanting to leave the tranquil setting of this country home, it is only minutes to the arts, crafts, and glass blowing shops in downtown New Haven, 15 minutes to the attractions in Hermann, 20 minutes to the shops in downtown Washington, 45 minutes to several award winning wineries along Missouri's Wine Trail on Highway 94, and an hour's drive to St. Louis County. This home has 3full and 1 half bathrooms, 4 bedrooms (2 king bed, and 2 queen beds), modern HVAC, plumbing and electric, 2 living rooms, and a dining area off the kitchen. The kitchen has a gas cook top, electric oven, and all the modern appliances you need. Most of all, it has beautiful views of the surrounding countryside during the day and at night the lights of New Haven sparkle in the distance.

Luke Otten purchased this chateau / country house in 2005

Why Luke Otten chose New Haven

The minute we found this property, we fell in love, and the original log home was in need of much repair. We painstakingly dismantled the farmhouse logs and moved them to the new location on the ridgetop, wanting to take in the surrounding views.

Great place

  • 5 of 5

Our family of six stayed here while visiting family and winery’s in the area. The house had everything you could imagine and could easily sleep 10. All the rooms we’re really large and the house is decorated really nice. The location was great, we spent time in Hermann, Washington, and St. Louis. We would definitely recommend this great house and look forward to visiting again. The only thing I would recommend is a sign or a larger address on the road.

Simply amazing how nice, clean and wonderful everything about this place is.

Love the character of the original log house. The addition brings enough room for our whole clan to enjoy dinner and time together. Located perfectly just outside New Haven. Tons of thoughtful extras make the stay great for everyone (games, books, WiFi, quality electronics, historic art, beautiful views...simply amazing!

Group Wine Trip

  • 5 of 5

This house was absolutely amazing!!! We wish we would have had more time to spend in it. We were in town for a wine trip with friends (7 of us). The bedrooms were very cozy, the kitchen great (we made dinner and breakfast there) and the dining area was perfect for games. We will definitely be back!

Beautiful home with no expense spared in the construction

  • 5 of 5

Four of stayed for the weekend. It was really big for four people but it gave us an opportunity to spread out. The stars are amazing at night sense there is no city lights to hide them. The home was furnished lovely like and there were plenty of towels, dishes, cook wear, etc. we loved it!!
