About John Kirkelie
I grew up in North Dakota and my wife's family is from the Portugese colony of Goa India. She was born in Nairobi, lived in London and moved to Alberta where we met. We enjoy the quiet at the 'cabin' and the deer in the yard and being able to see the milky way and all the stars at night.
John Kirkelie purchased this Cabin in 2005
Why John Kirkelie chose Condon
We were stationed in Edmonton, Alberta and we were looking for a replacement property for a rental we had in Denver. My niece lives by Flathead Lake on the west side of the Mission Mts and we started looking there but expanded our search and found this beautiful log home over the Mt.
What makes this Cabin unique
This Swan Valley corridor is a true wilderness area where development is limited to provide corridors for the Grizzly Bears to transit between the Bob Marshall Wilderness to the East and the Mission Mountain Wilderness area to the West. At the property you feel isolated but are actually close to the highway. You will see deer out the window daily and possibly other wildlife. A great place to take a break from a hectic pace. There is internet WIFI. But no TV(bring DVD's-video games etc). AT&T cell phone service works at the cabin. Other cell phone service is nearby at the Post Office (Verizon). On a clear night there are more stars visible than you can imagine.
Great for family reunions etc.

Great place for large groups
The place was large and comfortable for our group of eight. We enjoyed the fireplace and pool table. Also the dining table sat all of us creating a nice atmosphere. The kitchen had a wide variety of supplies including a crock pot. We hiked to Holland Falls which was not far from the cabin. Overall we enjoyed our stay and would return.
Great for families
The lodge was just right for us. My son's family enjoyed the large downstairs spaces and two bathrooms. Plenty of dishes and cooking equipment. Hard to find in the dark.
Perfect place for our friend and family getaway!
We made a quick decision to stay here for a getaway with our friends and their families. It was everything we wanted and more, easy access, peaceful location, all the amenities. Can't wait to come back again.
Thank you Kristine for the 5 stars. Glad that you found it more than met your expectations for a family and friends getaway. The cabin welcomes groups like yours and we look forward to your return.
Hi, it’s a family and friends trip. We really enjoyed the stay in the woods
Thank you for the 5 star review. We are glad the cabin met your expectations for the surprise birthdays for two of them. And happy to have helped by having the cakes there when you arrived.
A nice spot in a beautiful place
Overall the property suited our needs. We were only there two nights and used the cabin as a home base for Glacier NP travels. There is plenty of space to stretch out so large groups don't feel cramped. The kitchen had many pots, pans, utensils, coffeemaker, double oven, stove, dishwasher, etc. Every room had fans that and the whole house fan was very effective for cooling the entire home very quickly at night. The internet service was stable and sufficient for our uses. Communication with the owner was also prompt and clear. However, we did experience a few minor headaches that could use some attention. First, the grill was a great feature but the lid is missing a handle making it difficult/hazardous to remove it while cooking. Second, the water pressure could use some attention - I suspect mineral buildup may be to blame as some fixtures were quite powerful but many of the spray nozzles in the showers were completely clogged. The fridge also struggled to keep food cold the first night. We ended up pulling the fridge away from the back wall a couple of inches and the extra ventilation seemed to make a big difference the following day. A final note is that the grass was completely overgrown making the fenced backyard largely unusable. Overall we enjoyed our stay and would stay here again but remedying these small problems would make this a five star property.
Thank you Aaron for letting me know about the water pressure. Lime is a huge issue throughout the area and we try to keep the faucets open. We will soak the shower heads and screens in the faucets.
And thanks for the heads up abut the yard on your arrival. I reached a neighbor there who cleaned it
A new grill will be there when we get there in 2 weeks.
You were great to work with on the last minute booking. We look forward to having you return for another stay.
Swan River Cabin
Excellent cabin. Very spacious, lots of room for everybody. Centrally located near numerous lakes and hiking trails. John was very helpful and the cabin was as advertised.
Thank you David for the 5 star review. We are thrilled to hear that the cabin met your expectations. And that you enjoyed the nearby lakes and hiking trails to experience the beautiful scenery in the Swan Valley.
Located next to the Bob Marshall Wilderness area for hunting, hiking, riding. Seeley Lake has hundreds of miles of groomed snowmobile trails for winter fun. Several senic lakes are near the highway. Deer visit daily. Near Holland Lake Lodge, a favorite wedding destination. An easy 1 1/2 hour drive to Glacier Park or Whitefish MT to ski.
