Overview

About the property

Cottage, 2 Bedrooms (Sleeps 4)

Set deep within a 10 acre park-like estate one mile from the Village of Rhinebeck, the 1,100 square foot guest cottage was designed to be a simple getaway retreat for one or two couples who want a relaxing retreat in the woods, but who also want the the very best of conveniences of modern living. Nestled in an old-growth forest of oak, maple and dogwood trees, the black cedar exterior makes the cottage gently recede into the landscape. As you get out of your car, you appreciate the rock outcroppings and rambling stone walls of the property. You enter the front door of the cottage and are utterly surprised by the open loft-like space that greets you. The great room is 21 by 32 feet long and has 9 foot ceilings. A 26 foot wall of windows looks across a mossy forest floor that slopes down a lawn where the sun is just about to set. The look is cool and modern, with warm white walls, recessed LED lighting and stunning polished concrete floors. But the feel you are getting is one of warmth. The floors are toasty warm from the radiant heating system and there is a Danish wood stove with a fire swirling behind its glass door. Music from the built-in sound system fills the room from above and your friend has just docked his iPod to play that new band he was telling you about. As you flop down into the pillows on the big sectional sofa, you suddenly notice the brilliant deep red cabinets in kitchen.

The European-made kitchen is equipped with a Ariston cooktop that has both gas and electric burners, a Bosch dishwasher, a Gaggenau convection oven and--get this--a built-in Gaggenau cappuccino maker. The kitchen is outfitted with other things a cook would want... good cookware, a powerful ventilation hood and a selection of spices and dry goods to get you started as you plan your meal. Your friend says 'cooking is my way of relaxing and it's great to be in a rental property with a good kitchen.'

As the evening goes on, you flip on the 42 inch TV and chill in front of the fire while watching a movie. Afterwards, you throw some laundry into the washing machine on your way to a bubble bath in the extra deep tub of the impeccable white tiled bathroom. After your bath, you will slip between the luxurious cotton linens of the master bedroom as your friend retires into the other bedroom. You draw the floor-to-ceiling drapes closed because you fully intend to sleep in tomorrow, but he decides to leave his open so he can wake up to the sight of the leaf-covered floor forest and the hustle and bustle of chipmunks as they make their daily commute to the woodpile.

Property also features an automatic backup generator so power outages will not get in the way of your enjoyment.

Nestled in the heart of the Hudson Valley, Rhinebeck has something for everyone. Two hours from New York City by car or by Amtrak, the village has a small town feel with cute shops and a wonderful vibe. With the Culinary Institute only 15 minutes away, the whole region is peppered with great restaurants, farmer's markets and local meat and produce shops. There are countless parks where you can take a casual stroll over looking the Hudson or do some of the most serious hiking and rock climbing on the East Coast. Rich in history, the Hudson River Valley has historical sites, mansions to tour and old towns and villages, some dating back three hundred years. You can get a taste of country life with a hayride or pick-your-own farms or explore nearby places like Woodstock, Hudson, Millbrook and Kingston. For the kids, there is the Old Aerodrome, which has antique airplanes on display and air shows. For older kids, horse farms, sportsman’s clubs, golf courses, and dozens of streams and lakes for fishing surround Rhinebeck. Bard College and the Fisher Center for the Arts is only ten minutes away.

Please note, the property owner does not allow gatherings of more than 20 people.

We loved staying in the Rhinebeck cottage. The space was so comfortable. It is the perfect blend of woods and industrial. We slept so well here.

Loved the house, liked the kitchen.

  • 4 of 5

I loved the house and it was a perfect getaway. However, I had no idea it was a guest house of a family. I prefer privacy and to not feel like I'm walking on someone's territory. That being said, we had very little interaction with them and it was never really an issue. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

Five Stars - This place is beautiful!

  • 5 of 5

The space looks exactly like the pictures. It's spacious, well designed and aesthetically beautiful. We love the location and felt like we were close to town yet quiet enough to feel like we had privacy.

Brandon was very responsive and we stayed an extra day.

Spacious, comfortable and everything we wanted.

  • 5 of 5

This place is really nice. It was comfortable, spacious open and airy. House was very neat and all kitchen necessities was available at hand, as we spend our weekend being chefs. :) It is close to local supermarkets, and shopping areas, but also tucked away. Owners were great and communicated very well.

Lovely place and perfect accommodations for our needs.

  • 5 of 5

Beautiful wooded setting just minutes from shopping and town. Very comfortable and chic accommodations. The kitchen worked well for cooking for the family although the normal supplies (plastic wrap, aluminum foil, cleaning supplies, oil, etc.) were MIA. But it was a minor inconvenience. The sleeping accommodations were very comfortable.
