About the property

#410 Whispering Ponds Cottage: Load up your kayaks and fishing gear! One of our three updated cottages surrounding the well recognized Minster's Pond in Eastham. This little gem is the perfect get-away home for a couple looking to be in touch with nature, but still have all of the modern conveniences a house has to offer. Located just 100 yards up the driveway to a great beach on Minster's pond is this inviting STUDIO cottage. A perfect destination for adventure seekers and outdoor enthusiasts. This is a budget home. Average home in our neighborhood is 4X the price. What a deal! Comfortable queen size bed with all new bedding, full kitchen with new appliances, dinette, and half bath complete the cozy interior. Just outside you will find a private patio equipped with table and chairs, grill, and your completely enclosed, steamy outdoor shower. NOTE - there is no indoor shower! The outdoor shower under the stars or morning sky are amazing (and the only way one should shower on the Cape)! In this cottage's case, it is the only way TO shower!

Bike to nationally acclaimed Coast Guard beach, walk to legendary Arnolds for a fried clam platter, and ride for miles through the scenic towns of the Cape on the CCRT (bike path). All of these wonderful attractions are within MINUTES from the cottage. Did we mention that you can rent all three cottages simultaneously for the extended family? Why pay the lofty prices of a rundown motel? Finally, a chance to enjoy the Outer Cape on a budget. Book today - Weeks still available this summer! While the beach pictured is open for all guests to use, the dock pictured is for owner use only.

About Del Mar Vacations

The vision of Del Mar Vacations was born out of the principle of "The Perfect Stay". The founders of our company frequently experienced vacation homes that were empty and unmemorable. They found themselves wanting for the hospitality and ease one hopes for when they're on vacation at a boutique hotel. Something above the ordinary. Something special.

Del Mar started with a simple goal: create a perfect stay for every vacation. We are a Vacation Home Hotel that professionalizes the management and hospitality in vacation homes, turning them into exceptional experiences. Each home is unique with it's own story - but guest experiences should always achieve a quality standard.

Have a perfect stay! This Is Del Ma

Good time despite the weather.

Although I chose the worst week to vacation on Cape Cod. Hurricane (then Tropical Storm) Jose spun off the coast for the whole week, I have NO COMPLAINTS about the cottage or Del Mar Vacations.

Be aware: the cottage is exactly what is described. One room, with a half bath and an outdoor shower. As long as you know that going in, you will have a great time.

The location is the main selling point for me: Walking distance to the Cape Cod National Seashore Museum, Less than a minute drive to Coast Guard and Nauset Beaches, A couple of minutes drive for Shopping in Orleans and Restaurants in Brewster, Finally, it's 30 minutes from Provincetown. All for a great price!!

Owner's Response: You are such an amazing guest Kate! Thanks for your generous words and I hope you come again. You wouldn't believe how many guests try to blame us for a tropical storm ruining their vacation!

Location, Location, Location

This was my 2nd stay at this cottage. Luke and Christina are great! Christina has always responded immediately to any issue: booking, locating a pan, finding something to do on a rainy day, etc. The cottage is small but cozy and clean: great for one or a couple. The location is Amazing: 2 minutes to beaches and restaurants. I will return.

Great location, loved the cottage and Cape Cod!

Small cottage with all that you need for a great weekend. I would return to the same spot if available and bring my kayak to check out the beautiful pond. Coast Guard Beach and Nauset Beach where you can walk and walk and walk for hours are the target beaches for this neighborhood - easy to get to as its on the same side of Route 6. Arnold's "famous" restaurant is certainly a hit for lunch and dinners - just a quick drive or easy walk. For an excellent breakfast check out Fairway Restaurant & Pizzeria - out of this world homemade goodness. Provincetown was about a half hour drive and is well worth the ride. There is a working drive-in theater in Wellsfleet - just a short drive up Route 6. There is so much to offer from this wonderful cottage I would highly recommend it to all.

Perfect for a short stay

  • 4 of 5

The cabin is in a great location, close to the beach, the National Seashore Salt Pond, and a great number of local restaurants and hot spots! Perfect if you don't plan on spending a lot of time inside. Kitchen is truly bare bones, but the charcoal grill was a total lifesaver. There was a leak in the bathroom sink, otherwise our stay was ideal.

not quite what we expected, not as listed in Home Away

  • 2 of 5

Although we enjoyed the quite setting of the property, we were disappointed that when we arrived and called the property manager to ask which canoe we could use, he told us that there was not one available. The reason why we booked the property was because a Canoe/Kayak was listed in the amenities. The cottage was really not as shown on HomeAway, there was no mirror in the cottage, nor was there a lampshade, an extra blanket or any decorations . There was a slight smell to the cottage on entrance as well. The good things were it was centrally located, easy to find and we caught several bass from the dock. Needless to say next time we go to the cape we will be returning to our favorite hotel!

Owner's Response: Hi Amy, Yes, our listing said "Load up the kayaks and fishing gear" and that should have more explicitly said "load up YOUR kayaks and fishing gear" which I've now changed. We do not provide gear anymore because it gets broken, lost or stolen. We did a renovation on this cottage this year, vaulted the ceiling, painted, the interior, removed some old ratty furniture (like the mirror), added a flat screen TV & wifi and updated the bedding. So most feel it is better than pictured since our photos are dated. At $100/night, this efficiency cottage is much cheaper than a hotel, and located directly on a pond (100 feet down the driveway). Has a small kitchen and it's own private patio. The closest neighbor is more than 50 feet away, so there is a lot of privacy too. So it is tough to beat. Staying on a route 6 hotel is always an option though.
