Overview

About the property

Condo, 1 Bedroom, 1 Bath (Sleeps 2-4)

This unit provides a panoramic view of the ocean framed by palm trees from the living/dining and kitchen areas through twelve foot sliding glass doors. Relax on the expanded private lanai overlooking the surf, marine life and unsurpassed Kona sunsets. This second floor end unit in the desirable beachfront "E" building is quiet, secure and private. Full remodel completed in 2014 provides a bright and contemporary feel that is open to the view and ocean breezes. The updated kitchen features a dishwasher and eating bar. The ceramic tile bathroom has a walk-in shower. The bedroom includes a wall of windows that can be opened to the trade winds and the sound of near-by waves.

To help you enjoy your visit, there is beach gear, binoculars to watch passing whales (in season), guidebooks and a reserved stall in an adjacent lighted parking area. We have assembled an on-island team that takes pride in insuring that everything is extra clean and in good repair, as well as a concierge if you need assistance in making any special arrangements for your visit.

Kona Isle delivers the old Hawaii that visitors dream about. It is a small, intimate resort of low rise buildings nestled in lush, pristine landscaped grounds. A heated fresh water swimming pool next to a private beach area affords plenty of space to soak up the sun or relax with a book from the Kona Isle library. There is also an adjacent ocean-side surf fed pool. Gas bar-be-ques are maintained for your use in a lighted ocean front picnic area, a favorite gathering spot for sunset viewing. Kona Isle is a Wi-Fi enabled, non-smoking facility.

Kona Isle is situated in the heart of the Kona coast on the ocean side of Ali'i Drive about 1 1/2 miles from Kailua-Kona restaurants, shops and nightlife. Both a convenience store and farmers market are within a 1 block walk. The Alii Drive shuttle bus also stops near-by. Some of the island's best snorkeling and surfing spots are less then a ten minute drive.

The laid back, serene ambiance within the complex coupled with the convenient location accounts for the many repeat visitors. This unit puts you out front, right on the ocean -- no roads to cross, no buildings restricting your view, no vehicles parked in sight. How close is the ocean? Click on video found at the end of the still photos for a panoramic view taken from the lanai of some winter waves.

Great times on the lanai

  • 5 of 5

We really enjoyed our short stay. Bed was very comfortable, sleeping to the soothing of the surf. We didn't rent a car, but soon figured out the trolley, which worked great. Our main focus here was our grandson's wedding, so we didn't have time to do much sightseeing. Next time we will stay longer. The condo provided everything we needed.

Absolutely fabulous and breath taking!

  • 5 of 5

Excellent 2nd floor end location, which is the most desirable for ocean breezes. Great pool area plus the lounge chairs underneath the palms was sooooo relaxing enjoying the spinner dolphins and cool ocean breezes. Four great grills and picnic area was first class. Inside was equally first class all the way, from the shower to the well equipped kitchen with all the bells and whistles. Since we stayed 15 days the full size washer and dryer worked out quite well. If you have Roku, bring it with you and enjoy streaming netflix, etc. Location was ideal for restaurants, shopping, etc. Would definitely come back again and again!

Owner's Response: We have always been partial to the second floor at Kona Isle but until we got this condo did not realize the advantage of end units. Besides a view in two directions off the front lanai, the bedroom in oceanfront buildings do not have windows opening on the rear walkway. Instead there are large floor to ceiling windows in the outer wall that (as you point out) encourage cool breezes and provide more privacy. We are happy you found many things to your liking at Kona Isle and hope to have you return often.

The Beauty of Kona Isles

  • 5 of 5

Kona Isles is a wonderful place to stay. The sunsets from this beachfront unit are spectacular!! Hauling your luggage to the 2nd floor can be quite strenuous if you are elderly like us. I would highly recommend this unit to anyone who wants a very quiet, peaceful, restful stay in Kona. If you want internet service you must either go into the bedroom or visit their very quaint library that is close by. If you want to go downtown, the trolley goes past the front of the condo or you can use Uber. Washer and dryer are an added bonus! I would stay there if we ever returned to Kona.

Owner's Response: We're so pleased you enjoyed your stay at Kona Isle. We're also well past our youth so elected to buy a condo on the second rather than third floor (where we used to stay on occasion). With a washer/dryer in the unit, we've learned we can pack very light for our visits. There are full time residents in Kona Isle approaching their 90s who live on the upper floors. While we've attributed their vitality to the climate and restful vibe of this place, maybe the exercise they get between their condo and the beach or pool also plays a role. ;-) In a week it seems you'd fully embraced the Kona Isle lifestyle, we look forward to having you back.

The best sunsets-period.

  • 5 of 5

The codo was clean. The bed was very comfortable. The condo was a nice size for the two of us. Great shower. The living room furniture is nice, good tv, but honestly we never turned it on. We spent most of our time on the lanai. The view was breathtaking. The waves breaking were majestic. My favorite was hearing the waves and the birds from the bedroom.

Good pool area, nice BBQ area with propane grills. Wonderful "beach" area to watch the ocean from, when you can tear yourself away from the lanai.

Again-the view, the sunsets, were everything!

To consider though, there is not a swimming area, very rocky, though locals get in and fish and dive. The pool area is fine though. Also the condo is on the second floor, which capitalizes on the view but as there is not an elevator, might be a problem for some. Also I missed having an oven, even though its hot to cook, we ate in most nights. There is a counter oven though, but we mostly used the microwave. All in all great value with stunning scenery,

Owner's Response: Thank you for taking the time to provide an excellent overview of your visit to our condo. The lanai is also our favorite spot from the first cup of Kona coffee in the morning until the sun sets. The first time we stayed in an oceanfront building at Kona Isle we knew we had found the ideal setting for a relaxing vacation. So when we acquired our unit, the top priority was enlarging the lanai. We're glad you enjoyed it.

Excellent Value

  • 5 of 5

The unit had everything we needed and the view was even better than the pictures. The complex is great. We used the grills and ate dinner right on the ocean four of the nights we were there. The location is also perfect. We used the saltwater pool the first couple days while the waves were strong enough to keep the water fresh. We would definitely stay here again if it is available the next time we go to Kona.

Owner's Response: Thanks for mentioning one of Kona Isle's great amenities: barbeques and tables in an ocean setting practically none of the seaside restaurants can equal. While we often eat lunch elsewhere on the island, we prefer sunset dining on our lanai or at the water's edge. We're pleased you also enjoyed staying here and hope you can visit again.
