A one bedroom bright and cheery cottage which is one of 3 on this property that was completely renovated in 2012. It is walking distance to town. The focal point is the large screened front porch with a table and chairs for dining, and a wicker loveseat and chair for relaxing. Its the perfect place to unwind after a busy day of sight seeing or to sip a cup of coffee in the morning. The kitchen has everything you need to cook any meal. And the full bathroom has a shower/tub combo. The bedroom has a queen bed while the living area has a full size sofa bed. TV/cable and internet are included, with games and books for your enjoyment also. It is a short walk to town and to the Straights. And a quick drive gets you to the Headlands Dark Sky Park, sandy beaches, and the UP.

About Todd and Jacki VanHuis
We bought this property as a "fixer upper" opportunity. We enjoy renovating projects together and love Mackinaw (vacationed here every summer with our kids) so this was the perfect place for us. The 3 cottages give us a vacation home that will fit all of us as our children get married and have their own families.

Why Todd and Jacki VanHuis chose Mackinaw City
We also love this place for its history as part of the Lazy T resort decades ago. So to restore these cottages and rent them again for families to enjoy is an added benefit. Plus Mack City is a great starting point for other travels to the U.P. and other northern Michigan tourist towns.

The cottage is very cute and cozy...just like the pictures.
We enjoyed our weekend getaway. The cottage was a great location for us as we took a couple of fall color tour drives.
Perfect "Up North" cottage
This was a perfect little cottage in a perfect location to experience a northern Michigan vacation. So much to do including; visiting Mackinaw Island, biking many trails in the area, hiking in Wilderness State Park, walking beaches, touring lighthouses, stargazing at Headlands Dark Sky Park, visiting the Soo Locks and Museum in Sault St. Marie, etc. It turned a little chilly during our stay, but the cottage warmed up with an electric heater and was very cozy. The owners poured a lot of love and charm into this renovated little cottage. We highly recommend it and hope to return again!
Nice Little Cabin
The owners were very easy to work with. The cabin was very cute and clean. The decor was adorable. The entire property is quiet and very well kept. The only issue was that there was a faint musty smell inside of the cabin itself. Opening the windows took care of that easy enough but, for anyone with allergies or asthma would probably have issues. Other than that we loved it and we will definitely be back!
Very nice cottage and accessible to downtown Mac City.
I loved the renovation from cabin photo on fridge. Just right for 2-3 people. Perfect for a couple!
Adorable Cottage Close to Everything
Loved this little cottage. It’s within walking distance to all the shops in Mackinaw City and shuttle boats to Mackinac Island. Yet it’s in a quiet area nestled under the trees along with two other cottages just as cute. The interior is small but cozy, just big enough for two or four if you use the pullout sofa. The furniture is new and stylish in the living room. The kitchen is small but efficient. The best feature is the screened in porch which is the perfect place to sit and relax or sit at the table and eat. There is no air conditioner but we never needed it even though a couple of days were in the 80s. The fans and simply opening the windows or door was sufficient. Also, when it turned cold the electric fireplace warmed up the cottage quickly. The owner is quick to answer texts if you have questions. There are several restaurants within walking distance. Overall, I’d recommend this cottage. Perfect for a couple’s getaway.
Perfect cabin in the perfect location
We arrived to find the cabin all that was promised. Kitchen had all necessary utensils, plenty of towels, comfortable bed and sofa bed. We are walkers and were able to walk quickly and easily into Mackinaw City and to the ferry to Macintac Island. Petoskey State Park was within driving distance as were McGulpin Lighthouse and The Big Rock.
Jackie and Todd were quick to reply to a couple of questions we had and we managed to work through them quickly. Would love to stay here again if I am lucky enough to revisit the area.
We are on the west side of town, on a quiet wooded lot. The Straights are 2 blocks away, and town is 2-3 blocks away with shopping, restaurants, marinas, ferries to Mackinac Island, groceries, coffee shops, fudge and ice cream shops, movie theater, and live music all available.
