We loved this home and location!

  • 5 of 5

This was our 2nd visit to Molokai in the past 2 years, but first time staying on the west side of the island. Words cannot describe how wonderful this location and home are and we felt blessed to spend 2 weeks at the Anderson home.

Jay personally greeted us in the driveway after a long 12 hour day. He and Patty were quick to respond to any needs, but yet respected our privacy. The view will amaze you, the photos don't do it justice! And those sunsets!!!

We loved the home, location, privacy, quiet, pool with the daily used covered area, and 3 miles of white sand beach. I don't think we counted more than 20 others on the beach total, in 2 weeks. Great ocean swimming in the summer (for adults who are strong swimmers), and there were 2 boogie boards that were fun.

Loved all the wild turkeys that visited daily along with the axis deer, and those funny toads. We hiked the west coast from point to point, hiked the Halawa Valley, rented mt bikes and rode out near the old Molokai Ranch, snorkeled on our own and again this year went out on the Coral Queen with captain Tim and first mate Gabe from Molokai Dive. Barbecued every night and just relaxed and swam at the property.

One of best vacations, if not the best, in our 38 years of visting the Hawaiian islands.

We plan to return next summer, and hopefully stay at this wonderful home again, if available. We truly appreciated our hosts, and felt blessed to stay at their special family home and this incredible and private location.

Beautiful spot to call home for 10 days.

  • 4 of 5

Just had a lovely 10 days at the Anderson home on Molokai. The home is very private, has a view that is worth every penny of the rental price and the pool house is perfect for shade and dining in the evenings. The infinity pool is just the thing for cooling down after excursions or just fun for kids to play in.

We found the two king size beds to be comfortable and supplied with good bedding.

The kitchen is supplied nicely with everything you need to do your own cooking. We used the gas barbecue nearly every night out by the pool house.

Everything works in the house and the owners are making a steady stream of improvements such as new paint, towels and even bought us a high chair for our grandchild.

We recommended that the owners replace a few window screens, repair or replace the front door handle and continue their updates.

The home is perfect for two couples or a family. We would love to return and spend more time exploring the island.

We've spent time on all the islands of Hawaii but Molokai is our favorite.

This is the most beautiful beach with fantastic crashing waves. While not a swimming beach, the view from the salt water rimless pool make it perfect "swimming with a view". The home is lovely (with the typical ongoing maintenance issues of a home on the sea). The view from anywhere in the home is spectacular! The outdoor spots to sit are all comfortable and you can find shade if you're interested. There is an outdoor refrigerator for chilling your drinks. The beds are comfortable with nice sheets and pillows. The bathrooms are outfitted nicely and the showers work well. There is a washer and dryer which can come in handy. This will be the most relaxing stay you've ever had! Tell Jay hi for us.

Great experience!

  • 4 of 5

The location and back yard are the major pros to this property. It was really helpful to have some spices/rice/flour/butter so we didn't have to purchase those things just to leave them behind. It's easy to find and very private, all we were hoping for. Jay was really nice, was great to meet him on checking in. A couple of things to note are that there are many rodents and bugs in Hawaii, so we understood that mice can get everywhere, but there were droppings along the bed (built in, 1st floor) that were aside the mattress that could have been vacuumed up before our arrival. The house is a bit weathered and that is to be expected on a beachfront location, but it could use some easy upgrades, for example, replacement of the kitchen window screens instead of taping them to the frame, and not so easy upgrades like exterior glass doors (can't see out the back glass doors due to moisture between the panes). I'm also happy it was just 2 of us so that the sleeping quarters in the garage was not used. It's habitable, but the bed is alongside the storage of pool and beach supplies, other equipment like the fence that will be going up around the pool. Again, not deal breakers but glad to say there weren't paying vacation mates that would be sleeping in there. Would rent again and also spend every waking minute outside again too! Thank you, I hope this is helpful.

Outstanding beach getaway

  • 5 of 5

As perfect a setting as you can get, right above a world class, yet quiet, beach. The house is well laid out and well stocked. The outdoor space is exceptional.

This was our tenth stay at Puu Koae. We generally try to stay here least a month if we can. There could never be enough time here for us. While the pictures are beautiful, actually being there will take your breath away. If you like warm, pleasant, beach, ocean, quite, remote, friendly, with a beautiful home to stay in, you need look no further. Patty Anderson and the whole family are a pleasure to work with in every respect. They love this home and anyone who is lucky enough to stay here should count their blessings. While the ocean in front of the house can be challenging, we are ocean people and with respect enjoy it immensely. Three miles of staggeringly beautiful beach. What can I say? Trips to Kamakou Preserve, priceless. Hiking up to waterfalls in the Halawa valley, breath taking. I could go on and on with things to do and explore. Resort activities no. If you are respectful, and patient you will find why this island is called "The Friendly Island". For us this is paramount. Should you ultimately be referred to as "Aunti" or "Uncle" by the KiKi's it will be an Honor. While restaurants are few on Molokai it does have a few classics. Hiro's at Hotel Molokai is one.It is right on the water, open air, friendly and the food is very good." Ono Taco's and Fish" next to Molokai Dive and Fish is also excellent take out. Did I mention the sunsets? Do you have a camera? Spectacular! Bring good books to read, good shoes to hike, bare feet in the sand you have found one of the very best places to stay in the Hawaiian Islands.
