I live in Boston, I'm an actress and also have my family in Rome. I travel to Rome when possible to stay with my family.
Veronica Gentili purchased this apartment in 2011
I love living in Prati area with its easy access to Central Rome and I think its a great base for an interesting and varied holiday.
Some of the benefits of this property are easy access to Central Rome, riverside walks, fantastic local history with St. Peter's on the doorstep, great local stores, ect.
I was moved into this flat when the one I originally rented (in a different location entirely) had maintenance issues that couldn't be fixed. I loved, loved, loved this place! There is so much natural light, and it was wonderful to sit on the large wrap-around terrace sipping a cappuccino from Il Gianfornaio on the ground floor. The terrace view is especially beautiful at sunset. The beds were comfortable and so was the living room furniture. There was a large TV that had Netflix, which we enjoyed. The location seemed quiet for sleeping, but easy to get to a taxi stand or walk wherever you wanted to go. It was a nice area to walk around - shopping, restaurants, piazza, pharmacy and river nearby. I think this would also be a good choice if you had a couple kids along, because of the spaciousness, the terrace, the TV, the upstairs they can sleep in. The only surprise was that I had to go quickly buy toilet paper and paper towels when I got there.
The manager also provided a way for us to order a limo to the airport for our very early flight home, and that worked out great and we didn't have to worry about finding a taxi in the wee hours.
Lovely apartment with lots of windows and light. The terrace was nice to sit out on and enjoy a glass of wine and the view.
The place was clean and perfect for the 5 of us.
We had booked the Vatican tour online and it was a short walk to the entrance. And after we walked to Piazza Navona and the Pantheon. After dinner we walked home. Great location.
Very quiet in the evening for sleeping.
We had a minor problem and our host fixed the problem. We felt taken care of. Thank you. We will definitely recommend your place.
And we would love to come back.
What a fabulous penthouse! We were 3 couples travelling together and it was very comfortable and spacious. Excellent location, great restaurants nearby. The management team was wonderful and I would highly recommend the airport car service which can be arranged through the management team. Sitting on the balcony overlooking the Vatican was a perfect way to start and end the day.
Our family of six (5 adults and one 10 yr. old) recently returned from a week in this Prati flat. We found it perfect for our needs. There are 2 bedrooms on the main floor with a full bath in between the bedrooms, 1/2 bath in the living area, and a 3rd bedroom (loft-type) and full bath on the second floor. It is comfortable, spacious, clean, great location in an upscale neighborhood and with great views from the terrace. We (quite often after a day of sightseeing) bought groceries and prepared meals at "home" - what a pleasure! We had breakfast on the terrace before setting out each morning- we felt extremely Italian! There is plenty of comfortable seating in the "open configuration" of the living room, dining area and kitchen. We often watched soccer in the evening on the huge TV screen, or took our "passeggiata" for gelato at the nearby gelateria. There is also a TV in one of the downstairs bedrooms. The kitchen is extremely well appointed - plenty of cooking equipment, toaster, coffee makers, microwave, gas stove, dishwasher, clothes washer - we could have lived there forever just as we found it. Bed linens and towels were adequate, nothing fancy, but certainly fine.
A huge benefit to this flat is that the owner has a "city manager" we met us at the flat for an "early arrival", showed us the ins and outs of the flat and gave us ideas for local grocery shopping, regular shopping, restaurants, transportation, etc. She was so helpful and saved us so much time as we didn't have to search out things we needed. We walked to the Vatican, took Metros and buses to the "center" - all very accessible. There is also a doorman who was helpful as well. Nicola (the city manager) was always available (by phone and/or email) to answer any questions we had. It was extremely comforting to know that if anything went awry at the flat, we could contact Nicola.
I wish we could have stayed longer. If I had only known.....No more hotels for us! I would definitely rent here again and would recommend this flat to visitors to Rome.
We, a family of 5 , had an amazing time in Rome . The accommodations, cleanliness, and location were perfect for our needs.the Prati area is beautiful and very safe. The terrace is wonderful after a long day of touring. There is a terrific rooftop restaurant 5 minute walk away in the Orange hotel on via Crescenzi.
The flat we rented in the Prati section of Rome was satisfactory. The location was good and convenient to the Vatican. The only problem is misrepresentation of the number of beds and baths. There were two queen bedrooms with a bath in between for 4 adults to share.
Upstairs there was a loft with several cots and a bath with not an actual shower. This sleeping situation was extremely difficult for 4 adults that are not related. Most people my age, late 60's, do not want to share a bathroom and lofts are not official bedrooms and should not be advertised as such. The loft bathroom was more like a closet than bath for two adults. It was merely a tub with a hand held shower.
The kitchen needed a new coffee maker and the fridge needed defrosting. The kitchen was fairly clean. The entire apartment could stand more dusting, but I am sure it is a constant battle living in the city. We needed supplies i.e. toilet paper and paper towels and our manager delivered as requested. I am surprised I had to ask for these things. They should keep them on hand. Communications issues developed when a handy man came by the apartment to fix the sink that was coming away from the wall in the loft bathroom. The renters should have been told he was coming. We had no opportunity to put our things away. The manager apologized. The sitting area was pleasant and well appointed. We enjoyed this room. There are no blinds on the sitting room windows so that was the only negative. The linens were a little tired and could be updated. They were otherwise clean. Pillow cases are needed in one of the queen bedrooms.
We had wonderful time in Rome, if you want to assimilate into the culture this is a good place to stay. Very convenient to shopping, eating and the Vatican. I highly recommend Uber if you need transportation. Always prompt and available.
The Prati flat is full of possibilities and I believe if the owner would pay a little closer to details she would have this apt. rented all the time. I hope my criticisms help her. Sleeping issues keep me from giving five stars. I would give this place 3.5 to 4.
