Walker Residence - a SkyRun Telluride Property
You've seen those incredible homes under the gondola going from Mountain Village to Town? This 6,700 sq ft gem is one of the best properties in Telluride that is available for rental.
This log home on 4 levels is huge at 6,700 sq ft and sleeps up to 18 but also feels cozy. There are 2 living rooms, 2 Washers and Dryers, 2 master suites, 2 kitchens. It's ideal for 2 families with lots of kids, an extended family 3 generations all together or for 4 couples.
Drive up the hill to the end of Mountain Village Blvd and this home is directly ahead at the end of the road. There is parking for 3 cars in the driveway (note that guests don't have access to the 3 car garage). But you don't need a car. We can arrange for your transport from the airport, then you'll be able to get to anywhere from the ski slopes. Slopes closed/can't ski? Don't worry, you also have free access to the neighborhood on-call dial-a-limo that will take you to the village from where you can use the free gondola over to the town.
The residence is up above Mountain Village and the additional elevation gives you commanding views for 200 degrees of Mt Wilson and even mountains in Utah on a clear day. The views aren't wasted either as you can enjoy them from one of 4 decks or out of the many sets of floor to ceiling windows. There is even a 4th level 'crows nest' with a desk and telescope and rooftop deck. (smoking is NOT allowed on this deck).
When you enter the front entrance, you are greeted with phenominal views in the living/entry area. There is a fireplace as well as a pool table in this, the main living area for the home. To the left is the kitchen and huge group table seating up to 12. Keep going and you're at the ski locker/dry sauna area with a full laundry room, then outside to the granite picnic table, gas grill, fire pit and 8 person hot-tub right on the slopes (but not too close for privacy).
To the left on the main level is a dramatic self-contained guest master suite with it's own deck and full kitchen(!) The windows and view must be seen to be believed... this is why you come to Telluride... see the photos below.
Heading downstairs, there is another fireplace and living area with large TV and setting area perfect for watching movies. Off of this room is a 2nd laundry room and 2 kids suites sleeping 6 people on 5 beds in each room. Both rooms have a queen bed and 4 built in bunk beds. These rooms are named the 'girls room' and the 'boys room' by the Walkers, but the decor will work for anyone.
Even though you're in the basement, you are not underground at all. The many full windows have outstanding views to the slopes.
Going upstairs to the 3rd level there is a sitting room/library overlooking the living room below, and the main master suite. The master suite has everything you would expect. It's own deck, a king bed, walk in closet, 5 piece bathroom, jetted tub overlooking the slopes and a steam shower.
Go up to the 4th level and you're in a rooftop 'crows nest' that has 360 degree views (and a very powerful telescope) and yet another deck.
This is the kind of dream home that creates family memories. You'll be back year after year.

There are many positive things about this house. Easily held our party of 9 and could have handled many more. Hot tub was very nice and sauna in great shape. As the pictures show, there are some dated furnishings and fixtures.
This property has great potential, but it needs some attention before it is worth what we paid for it. Doors were very hard to open, kitchen floor had water damage (with a nail sticking out), steps down to the gondola path were loose and falling down, outdoor furniture was falling apart and unusable.
One major selling point was the proximity to the gondola, however, don't underestimate the hill... I was definitely winded by the time I made it to the house.
We had a wonderful trip and nothing I mentioned above is a deal breaker, just would have expected some of these details would have been dealt with for the price.
