One of only 58 residences in the newly built Sapphire Beach complex, Amikka is a duplex apartment of 1630 sq ft, situated right on Dover Beach on Barbados’ South West coast. Downstairs the apartment comprises a double bedroom with king sized bed, en-suite shower room, washer drier and plentiful storage space. Sliding doors open onto your own patio and onto one of Sapphire Beach’s two private fresh water swimming pools with gated access directly onto Dover Beach. Upstairs there is a further double bedroom with king sized bed (rear facing) and en-suite bathroom, plentiful storage, fully fitted and well equipped kitchen, spacious living area leading onto a large covered balcony. Balcony has a six seat table for al fresco dining, whilst the double arch windows give you the opportunity to dine in privacy. The balcony is south facing and from here you will see fantastic sunsets over the Caribbean Sea. The apartment comes with TV, iPod dock, air-con in both bedrooms & lounge. Sapphire Beach has a private gym.

The local beach: our family has been lucky enough to be holidaying in Barbados for a good number of years. So we knew that one of the critical factors for us when we decided to purchase a property on island was the quality of the beach and the safety of the water. We know from experience that there are many beautiful properties on island but the beaches and sea around them can be difficult for young or inexperienced or unsteady swimmers and we wanted to ensure that our whole family, every generation, could enjoy their time together all day. Dover Beach is beautiful but also gently shelving and with much calmer water than even the immediately adjacent beach which we have struggled to swim from. It is the choice of local families at weekends for good reason!

The island: At just 21 miles long and 14 miles wide, Barbados rivals destinations several times its size. Surrounded by over 70 miles of white sand beaches distinguished as some of the finest in the Caribbean, the island has long attracted visitors to its shores. With a beautiful landscape dotted by pristine golf courses, polo fields and elegant estates, world-class restaurants, vibrant night life and an exciting social calendar of cultural, music and sporting events, Barbados is truly an island paradise.

The climate: Just outside the main hurricane belt, the island enjoys year-round sunshine, cooling north-east trade winds and just enough rainfall to maintain its lush tropical gardens, gullies and rolling green fields of sugar cane, reminiscent of its history as an agricultural colony in the British Empire.

The people: Perhaps the island’s greatest asset is the warmth of its people. Barbadians are proud of their home and welcome visitors with open arms, making them feel as if they have lived next door all their life.   • There is a pull out queen size sofa bed in the living area. There is a safe in the upstairs bedroom which is large enough to store a laptop. There is an additional, smaller, safe in the downstairs bedroom. The patio doors in the downstairs bedroom and the upstairs bedroom window have black out curtains should you prefer to keep out the morning sun. Plenty of clothes storage space in both bedrooms, 6 drawer chest provided in the lounge for storage. Bedside tables and lamps provided in both bedrooms, side tables and lamp also next to the sofa bed in the lounge. Both bedrooms and the lounge have separate air conditioning units and ceiling fans. All bed linen provided.

Lounge has sofa bed, 2 chairs and 2 bar stools. Upstairs balcony has armchair, 2 seater sofa, cushioned stool, dining table and chairs for 6. Downstairs patio has two 2 seater sofa, 2 chairs and table. Sapphire Beach has private gym. Playing cards, games, reading books, small selection of DVDs and local information books are also provided. Included in the price of the rental is maid service 2 times per week (additional cleaning available on request, payable locally) and a welcome grocery pack. We employ the services of a local property manager who will meet you on arrival at our apartment and will remain available to you throughout your stay.

Beautiful spacious and comfortable

Best location we have stayed in Barbados! The condo was pristine and quiet. We stayed with our two adult children and their spouses and had plenty of room and privacy. We spent lots of time between the pool and the beach, and a perfect location to walk in the Gap at our leisure. Great restaurants and nightlife just nearby yet the condo and property were so tranquil. This condo is perfect in every way, the staff so helpful and friendly. Restaurants were plentiful and surprisingly modestly priced. We highly recommend Ammikka!!

When we arrived we were greeted and shown the unit without delay. A welcome package was provided.

Overall our stay was excellent. The condos are getting a bit dated and can use a good scrubbing. Our only complaint was our feet getting black walking around the unit in our bare feet. All tile floors tend to get dirty I imagine. The gym equipment needs upgrading. The pool was directly outside our unit so a quick dip would be good for those who like a pool. We used it twice during our stay.

What we like most is the beach is at our door steps. The Gap has many good restaurants and street vendors for meals. Played a lot of golf.

We have stayed at the Sapphire on 5 other occasions and this 2 bedroom unit fit our needs both price and size.

Our property manager Kiesha was there at a momemts notice and took care of amy issue immediatley. Only had 2 and the were handled.

Thank you Andrea and Mike. We look forward to our stay next year!

PARADISE!!

*This fabulous apartment ticks all the boxes. That is, it has all the comforts of home but with a balcony ocean view to die for.

*It is just a short stroll away from 'The Gap' with a wonderful choice of restaurants (we particularly enjoyed 'Harlequin' and 'Apsara' ) A little further afield is 'Champers' where we had a delightful meal celebrating Lynda and Barry's wedding anniversary. We also had a great lunch at 'Tapas' with amazing views from a table by the rail.

*Just a short taxi ride away you can find golf at Rockley and Barbados Golf Clubs.

*Andrea and Mike have been fantastic to deal with as has Keisha, their Managing Agent.

*What more can the four of us say except ... we'll be back!!

We Loved It

We would like to thank you for the lovely beach front condo. It was everything the pictures showed. We enjoyed being in the heart of The Gap and the beach and ocean were the best we have seen. The condo was just as pictured and more. The kitchen was very well stocked with all the items you would want. The condo is just steps from one of the pools, the grounds were beautiful as well. The condo is a gated complex so we always felt safe during our stay. Andrea and Mike were a pleasure do deal with and provided answers to all of our questions. We hope to return again and would definitely recommend this unit and will stay here again.
