Nice place with a great view, it did have some pluses about the place, and it had some negatives
Cute place. Great view of downtown NYC. And only a 4 mile ride to the city which was Convienant. The only issue was that we were not allowed to control our heat , there is no thermostat in the rooms to control your own heat, you must call the owner to control the temperature in the rooms . We are from Texas and it got down to 8 degrees here. And the shower head is super tiny, with low water pressure. Other than that our stay was quit pleasant, and Very clean, owner was very pleasant to deal with, they allowed us in the rooms early, which was great
Great views of the Manhattan skyline, convient to Newark Airport, and 3 short blocks to buses to NYC
We appreciated this apartment for its overall comfort and spaciousness compared to a hotel room. We were comfortable hanging out in the morning as traffic in to NYC cleared and walking the few blocks back from the bus stop at night. (Tell the bus driver you’ll get off at the Weehawken, Park Ave intersection, it comes up quick once you’re across the river.)
There’s a small, older store with some staples two blocks up the road, laundromat across from that. Kitchen is well enough equipped, bed was comfortable, nice hot water, plenty of towels etc. All was in good repair with the exception of the pocket doors between the bedroom and living areas. One door was stuck and seemed fixed in place, but a third effort at giving it a bump revealed it had been off the floor track. The door handles were useless in that they popped off of each door during normal use. Not a big deal, either to deal w as a guest or fix as an owner.
The location is loud during morning and evening commutes, with a street level bedroom 6 feet from the roadway and the “gorge” that is the entrance to the Lincoln tunnel on the river side. Light sleepers could have issues w the street traffic. That said, we live in a semi-rural area that is extremely quiet so traffic noise is foreign to us and may be the norm in this area.
We were on a 3 day stay and the combination of overall environment and convenience met our needs perfectly. All said, we’d absolutely stay again.
People were very nice but place had a lot of damage for the price. beds were very uncomfortable
People were very nice but place had a lot of damage for the price. beds were very uncomfortable. They had left basic food and drinks as well as cutlery for use as well as a blow dryer and umbrellas which we really appreciated. Place was neat and clean. The bathroom was very small. Overall a good place but overpriced. Owners were however fantastic.
We wish to respond because we feel there is a bit of a misrepresentation. The apartment was in tiptop shape with the exception of a small area in the corner where we had a water leak and there is some bubbling paint. That is being repaired as we speak. The guest were well aware that the price was $185 per night but later told us it was way out of their budget and considered canceling. Our pictures and description are accurate. We have a 4.8 star rating for 117 reviews on another site. We think their some of their review was a little bit of sour grapes.
The only "damage" was from disgusting condition they left the apt. There were days old dirty dishes on the floor and about, a pile of dishes in the sink, dirty frying pan sitting on the stove with bacon wrapper on a plate next to it. Garbage strewn in every corner. Kitchen table was covered with pizza boxes and dirty dishes and food wrappers. Half eaten soba noodles sitting on the dining room table. I wish I could upload the photos so you could see. I would not recommend these guests to any other hosts. It took our cleaning lady an additional two hours to clean the apartment. What a disaster. Never in my two years of renting our home that we ever had a guest who show such a complete lack of respect of our home. They should be ashamed of themselves.
Beautiful views of the city
This property has the most amazing views of the city from the whole back of the apartment. It is a large apartment with the exception of a very small bathroom. It was a little warm but there were plenty of fans to help keep us cool. The apartment could use some touching up from making sure light bulbs work, doors open, and that there is no paint chipping from the ceiling. Especially as you sleep. We did hear the other tenants upstairs and across from us very early in the morning but I guess that is expected. Especies The proximity to the city takes about forty five minutes. This includes a twenty minute uber drive and a twenty five minute train ride. Getting to the city this way cost us about ten dollars a person each way. There is a grocery store six blocks away and a great pizzeria a few blocks down the street. If you want a great view of the city every night snd don't mind traveling this is a great place to stay. Especially if some TLC is given to the property.
We thank Maria for her feedback and will be sure that light bulbs are replaced, etc. going forward.
As for the ceiling, we have had a leak in the ceiling and we have had a difficult time repairing. We finally found the source and we are making repairs and doing restoration. Everything should be in order very soon.
Just for clarification, the average bus ride into the city cost $3 per person and it drops you off in Times Square. Obviously if you need to be in a different location in the city additional time will be necessary. The bus ride depending on time of day (like rush hour) takes 10-35 minutes.
