The Most Romantic Villa is located between Manuel Antonio and Quepos, Costa Rica. Both towns are located on the Central Pacific Coast, less than 100 miles from the capital of San José. Enjoy balmy year-round temperatures that average from 81⁰ to 86⁰F (27 to 30⁰C) and year-round 85⁰F (29.5⁰C) ocean waters.

Manuel Antonio is Costa Rica’s honeymoon capital and most exotic tropical destination. The Manuel Antonio area combines timeless tropical scenery and one of the most beautiful white sand beaches in Costa Rica which has, as backdrop, emerald-green forests and lush hillsides. The public beach of Playa Espadilla Sur offers excellent swimming, rental of beach chairs, sun umbrellas, kayaks, snorkelling equipment, boogie boards and surfing lessons. You will also have access to international restaurants, spas, galleries and up to date services. There are plenty of places to eat in or near Manuel Antonio, ranging from small “sodas” offering Costa Rican local dishes, to five-star dining restaurants.

At the villa, you are just minutes away from Manuel Antonio National Park, one of the world’s most spectacular rain forest nature reserves. With its tropical trails, stunning white-sand beaches, coral reefs and tidal pools, this land-and-maritime Park is a stand out jewel in a country famous for its natural beauty.

The Park includes four picture-perfect beaches, each with its own personality. Anyone with a snorkel and mask will be mesmerized by the aquatic life around the coral reefs and submerged volcanic rocks that line the coast between the Park and Quepos. Manuel Antonio National Park is home to an astonishing variety of tropical wildlife. Explore the Park on a well-established network of trails. The most interesting trail is the small loop that takes you around Punta Cathedral, with its breathtaking view of the Pacific. Be on the lookout for hundreds of species of animals and birds, including White-faced (caphuchin) monkeys, squirrel monkeys, howler monkeys, coatimundis, agoutis, two and three-toed sloths, toed anteaters, iguanas, marmomsets, ocelots, river otters, pacas and spectacled caimans, land crabs, parrots, brown pelicans, brown boobies, tyrant hawl-eagles, gray-headed chachalacas, soalter’s ant birds, toucans, and scarlet macaws.

(Guest recommendation - For any excursion to Manuel Antonio Park and the Rainmaker Tour, make sure you book Henry. Our Villa House Manager will take care of this for you.)

Located on a tropical inlet just minutes from the Villa, Quepos is a small booming harbor town famous for being one of the best places in the world for big-game sport fishing. The newly developing Marina Pez Vela has amazing restaurants and specialty stores. Shop at the Farmer's Market every Friday evening or Saturday morning. With a variety of outdoor adventure and nightlife, the bustling village center composes six blocks of restaurants, bars, hotels, art galleries and gift shops, all resting beside the main beach and sport fishing fleet.

Less than two hours away, you will find Carara National park where you will experience biodiversity at its best! This 4700-hectare park is the northern-most tropical wet forest on the Pacific Coast. Hike with your naturalist guide through the reserve, and admire views of surrounding rice fields, palm plantations and cattle ranches. Crocodiles can often be spotted in the nearby Rio Tarcoles!

In addition to all of this, our Villa House Manager can assist you with booking a multitude of nearby activities including … Snorkeling, Scuba Diving, Surfing, Sunset Sails, Sport Fishing, Ocean Kayaking, Dolphin and Whale Watching Tours, River Rafting, Canopy/Zip-Line Tours, Suspension Bridge Tours, Horseback Riding, Waterfall Tours, ATV Tours, Bird Watching and many more. (Consult your on-site Villa Handbook for further information.)

Why Sheri Wildeboer chose El Cerro

Before purchasing this property, we rented it twice. We were enticed by the complete privacy, the relaxing infinity edge pool and the amazing ocean views. We have also stayed at other rentals in the area. We fell in love with the location because it has retained much of its local flavor while still providing all the modern conveniences, its unlimited choice in restaurants, and the multitude of activities available.

What makes this villa unique

Complete privacy, total private infinity edge pool, amazing ocean views, perfect location.

Luxury and Relaxation with Spectacular View

  • 5 of 5

This stunning villa is the ultimate in a vacation experience. There is no better view in all of Manuel Antonio, and well worth the drive up from the road. The sparkling Infiniti pool overlooks the beautiful marina, and lush tropical vegetation. There is complete privacy so you can float the day away in utter bliss (which I did) or lay by the pool in one of the ultra comfortable loungers, and shower under the stars in the outdoor shower. Even the towels were incredibly soft. There is also a large covered area with the breathtaking view with a sofa and cushions.

The inside of the villa is light and airy, decorated with the blues and greens of the outdoors, high-end local art, with a modern kitchen, huge bathroom with a soaker jacuzzi tub, and relaxing bedroom with a walk-in closet. There is a TV with many DVD's and lots of books. The villa is spotless, and there is maid service.

I felt instantly relaxed and stayed that way the entire trip. We were met by the House Manager Angie who took us to the Villa and showed us everything including the great options for excursions should you wish to leave your paradise.

We did and ventured to the Manuel Antonio National Park where our tour guide Henry showed us howler monkeys, sloths, lizards, rainbow grasshoppers and many beautiful birds. The natural beauty of Costa Rica is evident around the villa and in town .

There are so many excellent restaurants close by, all reasonably priced. The food was out of this world. I had the best sea bass I have ever eaten at Raphael's Terrazzo, and we had breakfast every day at Cafe Milagro, which makes the best banana pancakes ever. We also got to see the Cafe's sloth who lives out back. The people are lovely and super friendly.

Should you wish to eat in, there is a large grocery store nearby so you can stock the kitchen with anything you like. We loved the local fruit.

This was my first time staying at a Villa instead of a 5-Star all-inclusive resort, and I would never go back to a Resort. There were all the comforts and amenities of a resort and more, with the freedom to set your own schedule, eat in or go out for incredible meals, and most importantly for me to have such peace and beauty without having to worry about bothersome neighbours or noisy people by the pool. There is every adventure at your doorstep, or you can do nothing, or a bit of both. I would go back in a heartbeat, which for me is high praise, and would highly recommend this property.

Absolutely stunning!

  • 5 of 5

What's not to love about this experience? The owners were accessible from the moment I gained interest. They answered all my questions prior to booking. After booking they kept in close contact throughout the process, response times were very fast. The house manager was also available before and throughout the stay. All were great to deal with!

Now the home...this villa is AMAZING! Perfect for the vacationing couple. Very private and cozy. You could not ask for a more romantic location. Gorgeous views with infinity pool overlooking the forest and ocean. Everything you need in the house.

The drive up to the villa is steep, but most taxi drivers took us right on up. It's not really necessary to rent a car. Thomas set us up with a great driver.

Overall this place is just perfect. I will absolutely return the next time my wife and I go to Costa Rica. Stop looking at it, just book it!!

One of a kind private get-away

  • 5 of 5

It's not often that the pictures do not do a property justice, but this is one of them. The views from this very private hillside property overlooking the marina at Quepos is absolutely stunning!

The infinity pool is what really makes the property. I would go for a morning run and cool off in the pool afterward (in March, it's shaded until about 9:30 am). We'd schedule our activities for the day (jungle tours or a day at the beach), and we'd get back around 4:00 to cool off again in the pool and watch the sunset before going out to dinner. There are a lot of nice eating places in and near Quepos, you can use Thomas to help schedule them or use Trip Advisor. The one difficult part is getting to the house. If you have a car, you have to be comfortable driving up a steep and narrow road with several switchbacks. We drove it many times, and made it each time, but it wasn't raining and I did have to back down three of the times to the last switchback to make the road right next to the house. Once we took a taxi instead. The taxi drivers we had were good at getting up the hill, so that is an option as well. Once we walked back from downtown Quepos. The public road before the driveway area is also steep with very little shoulder (about a .25 mile long of winding road), so you need to be careful and for safety step into the cement ditch when cars are coming, because it's hard for them to see you on the twisty road.

Knowing about the driveway, we would still rent it in a heartbeat, but just wanted you to know about it so that you aren't surprised. Quepos is a nice little town, and the house is only 3-4 miles from Manual Antonio park, so it's really convenient for a lot of the activities in the area.

We had Thomas order a taxi for us once, he set up a daytime jungle tour with Henry, which was great (we actually had Henry's cousin Dixon as the tour guide because they had a lot of people on the tour, and Dixon was great). Thomas was always available to answer the small questions using WhatsApp, like where the controls are for the air conditioner and how to get the TV switched from DVD to TV stations.

The air conditioning works well, the house is well equipped (for example, a medium sized cooler you can use to take to the beach), and is a perfect size for a couple to relax during all hours of the day. Did I mention the pool? :)

Bottom Line: Great Property, awesome owners and house manager. It turned our vacation from great into awesome.

Where do you live?

Private, peaceful and beautiful......

  • 5 of 5

My Beloved and I had the pleasure of staying 11 nights at this most beautiful villa. Everything is in perfect working order and the house, pool and grounds are very clean and well kept. The pool attendant and the maid came by twice and gardener once. Remember that you are on the edge of the jungle so we did sweep the pool deck and removed leaves from the pool between visits of the pool attendant, not a problem. We ate most all of our meals at the villa and the kitchen and grill served us well. Thomas was very attentive and available at all times to assist with activities and any questions we had. We did some close to shore fishing with Blue Fin for a half day, caught 7 or 8 fish and had a fantastic tuna (our catch) sushi and sautéed in garlic and butter for dinner prepared for us at the Runaway Grille at the marina. We also did an afternoon sailing trip and, best of all, a tour with Henry at Rainmaker Parque. I cannot recommend Henry (and his nephew Dixon) highly enough. Rainmaker is very quiet with none of the crowd you will find at Manuel Antonio. No sloths though. There is some construction going on at the villa immediately above but other than the coming and going of the motor bikes or small vehicles (not very often, only a few times of the day) we did not hear them. The drive up to the villa can be a challenge at first, but we mastered it. We did it in the smallest standard transmission 2 wheel drive car I have ever driven but I recommend a small to midsize vehicle with auto transmission and 4 wheel drive. There are various animals you may see at the villa. Small lizards (think Geico), larger iguanas (one lives on the roof), a coati came by for a drink from the pool one evening and one afternoon a troop of white faced monkeys came for a drink and a dip in the pool.

One of the very best features of this property is the complete and total privacy.

We lost our tan lines.
