Architect, aged 44, based in Genova and who has lived abroad (Spain and UK) for a while. I really love my family Villa that was bought in 1810 by my ancestor Salvatore, a doctor from Florence, who enjoyed the island and who started to produce wine that was transported by sailing boat to Genoa . As an architect, I took care in the last years of the renovation of the whole house, including the garden, with full respect of its history, architecture and materials. I did a conservative refurbishment using traditional local materials and increasing the already high living standrards of the house. I travel a lot for business and Villa Bacci is for me a paradise place where to rest from stress and work and where to relax and enjoy with family or friends in front of unique views of the seaside and countryside.
Alfredo De Flora purchased this villa in 1810
Because it is unique. It is a Tuscan Architectural Heritage Villa, one of the oldest building in Porto Azzurro and it is in a superb location, in the typical Tuscan countryside, just a few minutes away from the best beaches of Elba island. And moreover it has a private vineyard where a great and tasty white wine is produced. All guests have always been very happy about Villa Bacci and this makes me feel well. Very reccomended for families, group of friends and people who likes outdoor life and sports (jogging, cycling, etc). The house is conveniently located by the GTE (Grande Treversata Elbana), a spectacular footpath that crosses the whole island. Is worth trying a part of it, believe me.
Sightseeing, quiteness, unlimited WI Fi connection, charming eniviroment, private vineyard with tasty wine....and much more that you have to discover
really beautiful restoration work, everything we needed was in place, including the beautiful view :-) no surprises, everything was absolutely fine, thank you, we could be in here
Atmospheric villa, gorgeous evenings on the terrace with twinkling views of Porto Azzuro. Great location to explore the beaches of Elba whatever the wind directions! The restaurant La Calettea is a must.
The is truly a fantastic property, we could have stayed at home all day. Very peaceful and well equipped. So nice to be able to open those french doors and shutters and admire those views over the vineyard and Porto Azzurro. We walked into Porto Azzurro and back a few times, this is a great walk after dinner. Eight of us stayed for 8 days and we all loved it.
Villa Bacci sits on top of Monte Castello hill, in the south-east coast of the Isle of Elba, in a typical Tuscan countryside environment, facing the crystal waters of Porto Azzurro and the romantic village of Capoliveri. It is nicely isolated from the village but it only takes 5 minutes to reach the beaches and all the major tourist attractions (restaurants, pubs, boat rentals, etc). Nearby it is possible to practice many outdoor sports as horse riding, bird watching, mountain biking, walking, windsurfing, sailing and snorkelling.
From the garden you can see Porto Azzurro on your left, Capoliveri on your right, southbound (on top of the hill) and when weather is particularly nice you can see the Island of Pianosa (where I strongly reccomend you to go), Giglio and Montecristo.
From the house you can take nice walks in the countryside. If you follow (on walk, I suggest not to use the car) the dirt road from the Villa Bacci main gate (with the Villa Bacci logo on) you can reach in approximately 1h the top of the Monte Castello and Monte della croce top from where you can enjoy fantastic views. The Villa is located by one of the famous Great Elban Paths GTE, that are nice tracks that connect many areas of the island by walk or bike (only MTB) and from where you can reach really nice places and enjoy spectacular views. Do not miss Castello del Volterraio or the Monserrato Monastery
