Lovely getaway in Progresso

  • 5 of 5

I enjoyed my stay in this lovely home. It is well equipped, quiet and close to the water. I spent some time in Merida previous to my stay here and appreciated the slower pace and the casual ease of Progresso. A big thank you to all my hosts. I would definitely come back.

Beautiful home and back yard

  • 4 of 5

We stayed here in March of 2018. The home is very spacious and we'll decorated. It has everything you would need to stay there. The location is also good. 20 min walk to downtown Progress. We rented bikes from LA Antigua restaurant which were new and kept them for most of our stay. If you are going to rent this house it says there is a TV. Take that at face value as there is a TV but if you don't bring a chromecast or a cord to hook up a computer then you won't use the TV. No programing supplied. We never asked just assumed. The bedroom on the main floor has air conditioning. The two upstairs bedrooms do not. This left you with the decision of being very hot and windows closed or open the windows and be subject to vehicle noise most of the night and barking dogs. I know This is cannot be controlled by the owner of the house but the neighbour has approx 4 dogs minimum. They bark at night constantly. Again if there was air conditioning on the 2nd floor the windows could be closed and the problem would definitely be reduced. The couple who stayed with us on the second floor complained daily about the barking and they are dog people. They had to keep the windows open or it would have been too hot.

That is really the only complaint about this wonderful residence. Location is good, owner is good to deal with, property manager is good, and the house was great. We enjoyed the stay.

Owner's Response: Thank you very much for your review. I apologize for the dogs next door and having been trying for over a year to have the issue resolved. I am looking at installing air conditioning in both of the upstairs bedrooms however I have to install solar first as electricity in Mexico is unbelievably expensive. I much prefer to sleep with the windows open but understand that noise can be an issue. The cord to hook up the computer to the TV should have been in the drawer of the coffee table and my Property Manager should have informed you of that. Unfortunately items do go missing from time to time so it may have just not been there.

Pictures don't do it justice

This house is as nice (or nicer than) the photos. It is BEAUTIFUL and only a minutes (easy access) to the beach. We enjoyed the backyard privacy more than the beach and walked to town a number of times on the beach (half hour walk or so) but buses and taxis are 2 streets up. There are bike rentals a few blocks towards town, nice comfy riders. Dominoes brought us a pizza (yummy) for under $10 Canadian (pizza and delivery). The property manager is a great guy and his colleague did wonderful massages for us. We really enjoyed the stay. The house could comfortably sleep 10 and there is a casita out back (a few more $'s I think) that has more beds and could offer privacy for some guests. The pool was beautiful and clean and the house is decorated with lovely things. There is a water cooler so you don't have to worry about water and all kitchen necessities were there (even a blender). Beds and bedding were wonderful. There is nothing negative to say about this home other than dogs barking (that's typical in Mexico) and no beach breeze. However, we had a lovely breeze at all times so.... Progreso is wonderful - nice mix of true Mexico and nice restaurants and beaches. In all, I would like to have moved to this house....at least for the rest of our winter. Rent it, you won't be disappointed

Birthday celebration in Progresso

  • 5 of 5

This is a beautiful home. This house is over 100 years old, but has been recently updated and restored. The owner has restored and kept the beautiful bi-folding doors and windows. We enjoyed the house so much, that we extended our stay with an additional two nights! This house is located in a very quiet neighborhood, and is within walking distance to the Malecon. I cannot say enough about the beauty and charm of this house and the friendliness of the neighbors.
