Amazing summer hiking/winter skiing apartment in stunning waterfall valley

We look forward to hosting you in our new luxury ground floor apartment. French doors open up to the patio and garden, with a small stream only footsteps away. The open-plan modern kitchen is fully equipped with a ceramic hob, oven, dish washer, microwave and coffee machine. The living room offers dining space for 6 as well as a flat screen TV, DVD player and wireless internet access. A double bed in the stylish master bedroom and twin beds in the second bedroom comfortably sleep a total of four, with a possibility of extending the sleeping capacity to six if you count in the sofa bed. Enclosed garage parking is included. The apartment is suitable for families with children as well as the elderly and it is easily accessed by wheelchair.

A two minute walk brings you to the (ski) bus stop, ten minutes to the village. Lauterbrunnen is the departure point to the most spectacular railways in Europe and and beautiful alpine hikes.

Summer season: Whether you want a relaxing escape or an action packed adventure, Lauterbrunnen has it all on offer. The Jungfrau region has around 500 kilometres of hiking trails of varying lengths and difficulty with fantastic opportunities to spot wildlife such as ibex and chamois or various alpine birds. Lauterbrunnen is the departure point for the most spectacular mountain cog railways and cable cars in Europe. The mountain restaurants are open throughout the year offering breathtaking views. Cycle routes vary from gentle along the valley floor to steep mountain passes or proper downhill tracks. Bicycles are easily rented in the village and are allowed on most mountain trains. The lakes have lidos and beaches all along the shores and there is a heated open air swimming pool in the village. For those who want more adrenalin, white water rafting, canoeing, mountaineering, paragliding, hang gliding, bungy jumping and skydiving are all available in the surrounding area.

Winter season: Winter in Lauterbrunnen is ideal for skiers and non-skiers alike: There are 213km of pistes for skiers and snowboarders and 45 chair lifts, cable cars and trains to choose from in the Jungfrau region. Lauterbrunnen is nestled in the valley between the ski resorts of Mürren and Wengen and offers easy and fast access to both areas. You can follow the tracks of famous skiers on the Lauberhorn run, the world’s longest downhill race track, or, snow permitting, ski all 16km down from the top of the Schilthorn to the village of Lauterbrunnen. A cross country trail skirts the apartment. For non skiers there are more than 100km of winter hiking trails, 5okm of sledding trails and a couple of snowshoe trails. Hiking passes are available and allow non skiers to enjoy the mountain restaurants, the breathtaking views and the toboggan runs, as well as some of the most scenic walks in the alps. Other activities include ice skating, ice climbing, curling, heli skiing and the indulging in wellness.

Suitability: Aside from a 10cm step at the building’s entrance, there are no stairs at all, making the apartment wheelchair accessible and suitable for people with physical disabilities or families with small children. The doors are wide enough and the master bedroom has plenty of room. Specialized equipment can be rented. There is an indoor heated place to leave prams. Having small children ourselves, we understand the needs of parents and have many extras to offer. Please contact us with your requests. Starting from the apartment, there is an easy, flat and wheelchair (& pushchair) compatible trail. Public transport in the region (buses, trains & cable cars) is also easy and user friendly.

About Diarmuid Conaty

Apart from our unusual names, we are bound by a love of this area and the outdoors. We met in Interlaken in 2004.

About D: A true Irishman although I have been in this area for over ten years. My love of snow brought me here, but with time I have come to appreciate the summers more and more. I am a qualified rafting and canyoning guide and work mostly in rope access.

About Kashi: My passport is Belgian and although I was born there, I have spent most of my life abroad. My parents instilled me with an unquenchable lust for travel and adventure. Since growing up in Nepal, I have lived and worked in the outdoors in Spain, Mexico, Nepal, Italy and Austria but decided to settle in this beautiful area. The last six years I have been employed as a photographer, hiking and snowshoeing guide, ski instructor, tour guide and event planner. Currently I am mostly a mom, the toughest and most rewarding job ever!

About Keanu: Born in Interlaken in 2008, I am a Swiss-born Belgian Paddy. I share my parents' love for water and I really like the Octonauts, diggers and my wolf Igor. I go crazy for cheddar cheese, and love to talk on skype.

About Kiran: Born in April 2010, I am the latest addition to the family. I'm a happy kid, I refuse to acknowledge that I'm the youngest and I love all animals

We are enamored with this area and there is not a day that goes by that we do not think we are the luckiest people to be able to live here.

The kitchen is very well equipped (we love to cook and eat well) and we have all the accessories you may want for small children. It's well connected via public transport but in a quiet area. It's a perfect starting point for all your Swiss adventures!

Great stay!

Great location with beautiful views, very clean, walk to the town and train station, or take the bus just across the road. Convenient store and good restuarant at the campsite a short walk away.

Spectacular Swiss Stay

As a family of five we had an amazing time at this wonderful chalet. Fabulous spotless accomodation with lovely views of the waterfall and snow capped mountains. It was nice to be able to walk into the village...hardly used the car at all. Plenty of walks in the vicinity...from the chalet or just a train or cable car ride away.

This was our fourth holiday in Lauterbrunnen... we just keep on going back !! Thank you, a lovely time had by all.

Fantastic apartment beautiful location

We could have not chosen a better apartment or village to base ourselves for our stay in the Swiss Alps

The apartment itself is situated in a small complex about a 10-15 minute walk or three stops on the bus from the rail station in the village. Everything is so accessible from the apartment and being in Switzerland we quickly learned that transport timetables are completely reliable. You really do not need a car if you chose to base yourself here.

The apartment was very clean and spacious and the owners were fantastic to deal with. The kitchen is well equipped and being on the ground floor our children were able to run around outside without having to use the main door. Diarmuid popped round soon after our arrival and took the time to orientate us and recommend walks and things to do in the area

We felt that we made an excellent choice both with the location and apartment itself. Highly recommended on both counts for a fantastic stay in the beautiful Swiss alps

The perfect retreat in a magical setting

This truly is a stunning apartment in a perfect location for exploring the Berner Oberland. This was our first trip to Switzerland and after some careful research we decided to make Lauterbrunnen our base for the week. Neither the village nor Cascia and Diarmuid's beautiful apartment disappointed, and both became a perfect retreat at the end of a busy day's adventures! Cascia was so accommodating after our flight was delayed and really took the time to ensure we had everything that we needed in the apartment for our stay. She offered great suggestions for things to see and do in the area and it was wonderful to have some insider knowledge.

The apartment itself is impeccably clean, modern and the best-equipped I have ever stayed in. From towels to cooking oil, every need had been considered for guests staying there and it made our stay so relaxing and comfortable. We spent many mornings and evenings on the patio just admiring the amazing view of the waterfalls and snow-capped mountains over a cup of coffee or glass of wine - the most incredible start and finish to busy days of hiking and sightseeing!

We cannot thank Cascia and Diarmuid enough for their hospitality and hope to make a return visit in the near future. Danke vielmals!

Perfect for family of five

Ideal location right at the base of the Staubbach falls in Lauterbrunnen. So glad we stayed in charming Lauterbrunnen and not another town. Everything was perfect and perfectly clean for our family of five down to the fact that there was a fondue pot and a raclette grill. Wouldn't change a thing about this chalet condo and its amenities. Darmuid was very welcoming and gave us good advice for things to do with kids (ages 8,10, 14) for the week (some of which we should have taken and didn't: Don't leave any later than 8 am for the Jungfrau or you will get caught in hoards of tourist groups). My kids immediately took to the nearby stream, playground, bridges and fields-- the foreground surrounded by alps and waterfalls in the background. Epic playtime!

A Little Piece of Heaven

My husband and I stayed at this amazing apartment with our two and four year olds for 5 days and loved every minute of it! The booking was easy from start to finish. Cascia and D are very attentive to customer's needs and are a big help in learning about the area and things to do.

The first thing we noticed about the apartment was how clean it was. The second thing we noticed was how the owners went the extra mile and provided spices, oils, and other basics for cooking, as well as dishes and a wooden stool for the kids. She even offered to bring a high chair if we needed it. They made it kid-friendly (with leather furniture) while still maintaining a modern feel. Little things like this make a big difference in creating a home away from home on vacation.

The location was perfect. An unobscured view of the mountains and Staubbach falls while sitting on the patio. Beautiful green grass and babbling brook running through the backyard. A bus stop nearby and only a short walk into town. We didn't even need our vehicle.

Very well stocked kitchen with all the utensils you'll need. It was wonderful to have a washer and dryer there to wash clothes! The toys, books, and movies were also a nice touch.

This is an apartment where the owners are most concerned with making your stay very memorable. :-D We'd definitely like to go back again!

Lauterbrunnen is probably the most impressive glaciated valley in the Alps, inspiring people such as Goethe and Tolkien. No less than 72 waterfalls cascade down the mountains. The village centre is a mere 10 min. stroll along the river, where you may find restaurants and shops, banks and the tourist office. Across the street there is a small convenience store. Lauterbrunnen is a perfect base for your adventures: spectacular mountain railways and cable cars whisk you past Wengen, famous for the Lauberhorn ski race, on to Kleine Scheidegg with breathtaking views of the Eiger, the Mönch and the Jungfrau and on to the Jungfraujoch, the highest train station in Europe. Across the valley, Mürren awaits you with even more dramatic views, and 2 cable cars further you reach Schilthorn with its revolving restaurant. The area has hundreds of miles of summer hiking trails and endless skiing options, with a cross country piste skirting the apartment. All airports connect easily by rail.
