There is an excellent choice of restaurants within walking and /or driving distance of Felsensicht including Seaforth Restaurant, The Meeting Place, Bertha’s, The Salty Sea Dog, Café Pescado, Just Shushi, The Quarter Deck, The Lighthouse Café (highly recommended) and, 2½ km from our home towards the south, The Black Marlin.
Simon's Town is well known for its Naval Museum, Toy Museum and Simon's Town Cultural Museum. The Scratch Patch is also an important tourist attraction where one can 'scratch' for a wide variety of beautiful gemstones.

Fisherman's Beach is a mere 2 minute walk from our holiday home, Felsensicht. It is perfect for children and adults alike who enjoy boogie boarding and body surfing. Nearby beaches with quieter rock pools and lagoons are ideal for children, and exploring the rocks and boulders strewn along the coastline is a wonderfully rewarding activity.

Climate, History and Places of Interest: The Cape is an area which experiences a Mediterranean climate - warm summers and cool winters. The rainy season is during the winter months but often one is fortunate to enjoy clear skies and warm days during the winter season. Simon's Town itself is an historic town which grew up as a result of the naval base which was originally established here. A visit to the Victoria and Albert Waterfront in Cape Town is a must, as well as a trip up Table Mountain in the cable car. A visit to the world renowned Kirstenbosch National Botanical Gardens should also be on all visitors' lists to Cape Town. The Cape Point Nature reserve is a very popular destination for visitors to Cape Town. Once at Cape Point, one can take the funicular up to the lighthouse and enjoy the glorious view of both the Atlantic and Indian Oceans. Further afield, one can enjoy a day out in the wine lands, sampling the excellent Cape Wines in the Stellenbosch, Swellendam, Paarl or Franschoek areas.

We bought the property in Simon's Town from René's brother a number of years ago and, in 2003, decided to build an upmarket holiday home on the site for our own use and to rent out. We have spent numerous wonderful holidays at Felsensicht enjoying the peace and tranquillity of the area and the exquisite ocean view from our very own patio. We enjoy swimming and boogie boarding in the (warmer) Indian ocean at Fisherman's Beach, only a 2-minute walk from our home, we love cycling to Cape Point (about a 52 km round trip) and up Chapman's Peak, we enjoy relaxing on our patio, spotting the whales and watching the sea birds, we love entertaining our friends at our beautiful home and we also enjoy sampling the gorgeous cuisine at any number of excellent restaurants in the area.
Felsensicht is 1 km from the Boulders Penguin Beach, an extremely popular tourist spot in Cape Town. Our Simon's Town Country Club is only 800m from our holiday home where golf, bowls and squash can be enjoyed. The centre of Simon's Town, with its attractive and historical waterfront, is only 3 km away. Here you will find a number of quaint boutiques selling gifts, bric a brac, art and clothing, and also a variety of excellent restaurants serving Italian, Japanese, Continental as well as local foods. The Sun Valley Shopping Centre is about a 15 minute drive from Felsensicht and here one can purchase everything from high quality foods to clothing, stationery, books, IT goods, fancy items etc. Come to Simon's Town and enjoy a tranquil holiday away from the hustle and bustle of city life.
I recently stayed in your home with Johan de Bruyn, his wife and some friends from Ireland. I just want to say a personal thank you to you. I had the most relaxing few days with a little hiking thrown in just to remind me life isn’t always a lazy day on the beach. The wonderful views and precious memories will stay with me wherever I journey. You have a beautiful home and I thank you for sharing it with us.
Thanks to your lovely witty Caretaker too.
We did spend a week during Easter 2010 in this wonderful house in Simons town. From the first contact during booking, the owner was very responsive and open to meet all our needs for information and help. The houses itself is wonderful, and contain everything we needed. The location is excellent, with a full view of the bay from all rooms and from the balconies. Only 5 minutes from the house there are a small sand beach, perfect for a morning or evening swim after exploring the cape. We can only recommend this place!!
We spent two weeks at Felsensicht in December 2009 - the week before our wedding, and the week after. The house has superb views of False Bay from every room and an fantastic living/ entertaining area and balcony, which was great as we had quite a few friends and family coming to see us and spend time with us around our wedding day. The house is very well equipped and beautifully furnished, with amazing attention to detail. The owners were also a pleasure to deal with. Our only constructive criticism is that the fridge is rather small for a house that sleeps six people. If you intend eating out all the time during your stay it isn't a problem, but if you like to cook and entertain, as we do, it is a bit of a challenge trying to find space for food and drinks for more than a day or two. Other than the fridge, Felsensicht is exactly the kind of holiday home we would love to own ourselves one day!
