Live in a real 1880's Brooklyn firehouse with lots of historical character, furnished with salvaged antique pieces and original artwork, some made by the hosts themselves. Downtown Brooklyn is a 20-minute walk through the lovely neighborhoods of Clinton Hill and Fort Greene. Half a block away is Myrtle Avenue, with it's restaurants, bars, and food markets. Pratt Institute is 3 blocks away. Local pick/drop laundry service available. Walk to G train in 7 minutes, or take a bus downtown. The apartment has it's own private entrance at the back of our building, and is very quiet and light with high ceilings, 2 skylights and 2 windows. It has one bedroom which sleeps two, and one open bedroom with optional velvet curtain enclosure that can sleep 3. It also has a sleeper couch in the living space that can sleep 2 more. Outside bedroom 1 is a small outdoor sitting area accessed by opening the fire gate.

My wife Dorke and I are both artists living in Brooklyn, NY. I support myself with my artwork and also work as a contractor. My wife Dorke comes from Hamburg, Germany and works at The Brooklyn Waldorf School where she is deeply involved in the handcrafting program. We have 2 children, Pico, a girl, age 10, and Jordan, a boy, age 13.
Owner purchased this Apartment in 2001
Why Owner chose Bedford-Stuyvesant
I have been living in New York City since 1982. I moved from Manhattan to Williamsburg Brooklyn in 1995, and then from Williamsburg to BedStuy in 2001. My wife and I were looking for a building where we could live and have studio space.
What makes this Apartment unique
The building has a lot of historical character. We renovated but preserved as much of this as we could. The apartment itself has 13 ft ceilings, 2 skylights and 2 windows, which fills it with natural light. You can open the fire gate outside bedroom 1 and there is a small outdoor sitting space. Across the street from us there is an old convent which takes up 3/4 of the block and makes our place especially quiet.

Fantastic NYC pad with quirky style
This was a great base for our NYC trip with three kids. Luke was very welcoming and helped out with parking advice ahead of our visit. Interesting artwork on the walls, amazing high ceilings and a great feeling of space. Vibrant and friendly Brooklyn neighbourhood.
Simple, clean city crash pad.
Luke was great - very friendly and accommodating. The apartment is very unique, spacious, and clean. It is very minimal and a great place if you plan on being out most of the time and need a place to sleep and unwind. I would recommend Luke’s apartment to anyone looking to experience the city who just needs a place to crash. Awesome place! Thanks for a great stay, Luke and family!
Nice spacious apartment. Well equiped. Good communication with owner.
The neighbourhood isn't very special, but don't let that put you off.
We had a great stay!
Très bonne expérience sur Brooklyn!
Famille très accueillante et appartement spacieux . Une unique salle de bain mais bien agencée. Le quartier est calme et accessible en transport en commun.
Thank you for staying with us!
We are a 7 minute walk from the G train which links up to the A and C line making a trip into Manhattan only 20 minutes. Parking in the street is relatively easy. If desired, there is an indoor parking garage 10 minutes walk away for $10/daily.
