Beautiful, romantic stone house in over 400 year old domaine

Bedrooms 4
Space 1,345 sq. ft.
Property type house
Minimum Stay 5 - 7 nights

About the property

Romantic, quiet, large swimming pool, views, ruins, all seasons

These stone houses and their several terraces are part of the Lagrenie domaine found in the hills overlooking Groléjac village, the Dordogne river and Perigordian hills. Situated at the end of a forest road, it is tranquility itself. However, the Medieval city of Sarlat and the famous villages Domme and La Roque-Gageac are 15 minutes away, Beynac Castle and Castelnaud: 25 minutes.

The Dutch owners live in Lagrenie's old farmhouse, with Les Cèpes (sleeps 6-8) and Les Girolles (sleeps 6) clustered around the views and the large shared (6 x 12 meters) pool. There is also a table tennis table and trampoline. Beautifully tended gardens provide ample space for children to exhaust themselves, while adults can relax in the complete privacy of the terraces.

About Karin ten Kate

We, Karin and Gijs are a Dutch couple in our fifties. We moved to France two years ago to fulfill our dream. Since then we are almost fully booked from April through September and we are very proud of the reviews we have received. Karin takes care of the houses and gardens, Gijs is a writer and board room consultant and facilitates business retreats.

Karin ten Kate purchased this house in 2010

Why Karin ten Kate chose Perigord Noir

We have dreamt all our lives of offering a quiet, inspiring place to people to relax, be happy and rebalanced from the pressures of society. We found Lagrenie in 2010 and we have turned it into something unique: the authenticity of a medieval domaine with all modern comfort you could wish. Lagrenie is surrounded by woods and has views over the river, but is very close to all famous castles, markets and villages of the Dordogne.

What makes this house unique

Original stone houses.

Quite location nearby any possible attraction.

Authentic, romantic place with large swimming pool (6X12), trampoline, table tennis, stunning views, ruins.

Utterly delightful

  • 5 of 5

We spent a few days at New Year. From the two chairs on the porch to take off our boots, to the confortable living-room and wonderful fireplace, ample cosy bedrooms, perfect kitchen, the whole experience was delightful.

Many excursions, nearby shops, and wonderful hosts,

we loved coming back to Lagrenie every evening and having an owl for sole company!

A place out of time

  • 5 of 5

La Grenie has the most magical atmosphere: the forest is alive, the stones ponder and the superb landscaping makes even the most aimless stroll and adventure. The houses themselves are tasteful and uncluttered, with wonderful architectural quirks, but remain welcoming and cosy. Before you know it you breathing is slow and steady and your shoulders have gone back to where they should be. The local area is full of fabulous places to visit too. The owners are friendly but don't meddle. They provided an extra bit of kitchen kit when asked and really knew about the local area. All in all a perfect place to have a real family holiday or a romantic retreat.

Un petit coin de paradis

  • 5 of 5

  • 5 of 5

Danke. Weiter so !

Sehr empfehlenswert.

  • 5 of 5

Die Bewertung bezieht sich auf das Haus Les Cepes. Wir (2 Erwachsene, 2 Kinder 3 bzw. 7 Jahre alt) haben hier 2 zauberhafte Wochen verbracht. Hier stimmte irgendwie alles.

  • 5 of 5
