Beautiful late Victorian house with open fires and an AGA
Graham grew up in Inverness before leaving to go to University in Edinburgh in 1986. He has always been extremely fond of Inverness and the Highlands and has retained close connections to the town (now a city). He has many relatives and friends living locally and gets back as often as he can, especially in the football season.
Owner purchased this House in 2006
Why Owner chose Inverness
Graham bought Bellfield Cottage back in 2006, initially for his own use when visiting friends and family. Since 2009, he has let the house out to visitors. It is a very busy rental property, fully booked every summer, Christmas and New Year and popular in the autumn and spring with return guests, including many performers at the local Eden Court Theatre. In 2012, Graham bought Kinmylies Farmhouse, which had long been one of his favourite properties in Inverness. This is also now available to rent. (see http://www.homeaway.co.uk/p1091419) Graham's mother, Margaret, looks after both of his rental properties and delights in meeting guests from all parts of the world.
What makes this House unique
It took me 7 years of searching to find my dream home from home. Bellfield Cottage is one of just 4 houses cut into the steep bank that runs through Inverness parallel to the river. The cottage is secluded enough to afford guests complete privacy, yet with wonderful views and only a short walk to the town centre.

Close to everything
Graham and Margaret were wonderful. We needed to arrive late and they totally accommodated us. The house was close to everything. Communication was great. Loved it all.
Fantastic all round!!
All I can say is Fantastic!! Location, Price, Owners, Cleanliness, everything was just perfect!
We were a group of 8 in Inverness for a long weekend and this house was just perfect for us. Margaret was extremely kind and helpful.
I would give this house a rating of 15/10!! Very highly recommend!
Easy to walk to shopping and restaurants. Near the River Ness. Nice house with all the amenities.
A wonderful week in inverness
Our extended family group (5 adults, 1 child age 5, 1 baby age 4 months) had the most wonderfully relaxing week in Inverness at Bellfield Cottage. We had everything we needed for a comfortable and enjoyable stay: fully equipped kitchen with Aga, washer/dryer, comfortable beds and linens, outdoor seating, beautiful views, and a wonderfully central location. Walking distance to the center of town, shopping, restaurants, beautiful walks along the River Ness, this vacation cottage has it all! We used our rental car to see Urquhart Castle, Glen Afric, the Clava Cairns, Cowdor Castle, Ben Wyvis, Loch an Eilein etc., but there was also plenty to enjoy within a mile's walk including two wonderful parks/playgrounds, Bellfield Park and Whin Park (big hits with my 5 year old). We were traveling from New York City, and this vacation cured us from all the stresses of big city life. Margaret was extremely helpful, suggesting several great places to visit in town, and was able to accommodate our slightly early arrival on the red-eye. This was our first trip to Scotland, and my children's first trip over-seas. We couldn't have enjoyed it more!
Words Cannot Suffice
I have traveled quite a lot, and stayed in some incredible places, but 1 Bellfield eclipses them all. During the month we stayed in Scotland, this place was our home in every meaning of the word. Margaret was a kind, gracious hostess who truly became family; she gave us tips on events and tours, provided every possible amenity we could need (our first night we realized that we had forgotten our electric converters, and she was over in ten minutes with one she had bought for us!), and shared anecdotes and stories with us. I cannot recommend 1 Bellfield enough; please visit!
Adorable and functional house a short walk from downtown, bike paths, parks, and anything else you'd want to see or do in Inverness. We were staying with two young children, and the house and location were perfect for a family trip. Margaret was lovely and helpful during our stay. We'd definitely stay here again. Can't recommend it enough!
Bellfield Cottage, 'the cottage in the city', combines the luxury, warmth, charm and seclusion of a country retreat with the convenience of a town-centre location, being just a short walk to the theatre, restaurants, pubs and shops.
Bellfield Park is a two minute walk away and is a lovely place for adults to relax and children to play; with a bandstand, tennis courts, playground and paddling pool. Whin park is a 15 minute walk through the beautiful Ness Islands and has a large adventure playground, boating pond, ducks and even a miniature train for kids.
Inverness is surrounded by many world-class visitor attractions from the battlefield at Culloden to the world-famous Loch Ness. Distilleries and castles are too numerous to mention, but our favourites are the ruined Urquhart Castle on Loch Ness and the Glenmorangie distillery at Tain, Explore the Cairngorms on the funicular railway or enjoy the animals at Kincraig wildlife park.
The real beauty of the Scottish Highlands is the natural environment. You can expect to see a variety of flora and fauna; including birds of prey, wild deer, leaping salmon, dolphins in the Moray Firth and, if you are very lucky, the famous Loch Ness monster.
There are walking trails for all ages and abilities, country sports of hunting, shooting and fishing as well as climbing, golf, sailing and skiing for the more active.
Throw in some of the best fresh food in the UK and some really great local restaurants and your stay will be truly memorable.
Other Activities: Curling, ice skating, bowling, floral hall, dolphin watching, wildlife parks
