Dramatic water views of the Marco River greet you at every turn as you stay in this historic Goodland landmark with its own private boat basin. A former small marina converted to two separate apartments which provide simple but comfortable accommodations located not merely on the water, but practically in the water.
You will witness incomparable up-close views of wildlife, from dolphins frolicking in the Marco River to manatees occasionally even roaming into the boat basin right at your front door. This unique property will charm and you and make you want to stay forever.
Throw your castnet over the bait-fish that often school up in the canal, then launch your boat right into the prime fishing grounds of the 10,000 islands, well known for fantastic Snook and Redfish action, among many other species that heavily populate this unspoiled fishing paradise. Direct access to the gulf does not get any more direct than this!
If you are an Eco tourist, this property is the perfect place to launch your kayak directly into the islands right from your front door. You simply cannot get any closer to where you are going, even in Everglades City or Port of the Islands, which both have long canals.
Just want to relax? Goodland is the place. A small fishing village with excellent restaurants within walking distance, as well as two modern marinas offering boat rentals, fuel and bait. A golf cart is included in your rental for your convenience in getting around to restaurants and other locations. And there is plenty of room to park your trailer and the public boat ramp is less than 0.5 miles drive. This is a truly fantastic property!
We love boating, fishing and exploring in the 10,000 islands and Florida Keys.
Jim Golden purchased this apartment in 2012
We have been visiting Marco Island for years but recently fell in love with Goodland and this quaint, historic and very unique property. Unlike being on a canal in Marco or other SWFL properties, this home puts you right on the Marco River leading directly out to the gulf. You cannot get any more direct access than this property provides. When you leave your front door, there is a very short no wake zone and you are off!
Goodland is one of the few places where old Florida survives. Laid back and relaxed with great local bars and restaurants. Life is good in Goodland.
Spent 3/20-3/27 at Jim's wonderful place in Goodland, Fl. If you want to be close to the water you can't get any better than this. This cozy, well equipped home away from home literally "sits" on the water. We were fishing 10 feet from the couch in the living area. The views were incredible, saw lots of different species of birds that visited the inlet every morning, watched dolphins play and Mullet hopping through the water right outside our door.
This is a simple, clean, very comfortable place. Nothing "elaborate", but then again everything you need. There are two units one downstairs and one up, so it's perfect for friends to rent together, or for a larger family to have extra sleeping and kitchen space. We stayed downstairs just because it was easier, and we arrived late. The beds downstairs are twins (2), and are very comfortable. There is another smaller, maybe child size bed in the living area.
There is also a golf cart to use for the week which is really great for exploring the little town and getting to dinner and the marinas.
There are a few restaurants right in Goodland. We can HIGHLY recommend the Little Bar. We had probably the best fresh Tuna and Mahi Mahi we have ever had there. Went to the Old Marco Lodge one night, husband loved the Grouper but I was not a fan of the scallops. Coming home from Kayaking through Naples one evening stopped at Iguana Mia. Excellent Mexican food and they give you huge portions!
If you are there to fish or Kayak a few recommendations. Hubby used a guide out of the Calusa Marina named Matt Hoover. Actually Jim (homeowner) had used him before and told us about him. He is a very good guide and comes highly recommended by others too.
There is a very good spot to launch Kayaks in the Collier-Seminole State park. Not far from Jim's place and the launch from there gives you a perfect place to paddle among the mangroves. I ama beginner so it was perfect spot for me.
Jim was wonderful to work with, he gives you all the information on the area you need, and responds very quickly to any questions you may have.
We can't wait to go back and visit. It was a wonderful, relaxing 8 days on the water.
This was a great launch spot for my fishing vacation. The upstairs unit 2/1 worked out great and had those once in a lifetime views from the deck. Was nice to have a 1/1 downstairs to keep the beer n ice close to the boat. This spot has it all....golf cart to get to the bars n fantastic seafood restaurants [fresh] and if you don't catch any**** a seafood market to stock up on fish before heading home. Thumbs TO THIS COZY SPOT! Keep Your Boat in the water or the Launch at the Park with boat ramps a few blocks away with tackle n bait!
Wow, the view was incredible. The home has everything you need. Very relaxing time. The day we left there was a Mother & Baby Manatee 10' from the dock. We will be back soon, it was wonderful.
Me and two friends left the Netherlands for fishing in the beautiful world of ten thousand islands. It was the fifth time and we were looking for a perfect place to stay. The house from Jim Golden was everything the description and photos promised and more. The rooms were clean, Wi-Fi very fast, the kitchen well equipped, the shower hot and the beds were good. And because the house is direct next to the water the manatees where next to us. We could even see dolphin's in the cannel. For us it was great to have our boat next to the house. Jim also has a golf cart which we could use. A perfect way to travel around in Goodland and visit the restaurants. If you want more restaurants or a supermarket; Marco Island is only a ten minutes drive. When we had a question Jim was always there to help us out. We really enjoyed our stay and are already planning our stay in 2014! Thanks Jim.
Goodland is the gateway to the 10,000 Islands National Wildlife Refuge, a 35,000 acre nature preserve which joins the 1.5 million acre Everglades National Park lying between Marco Island and the Florida Keys. It is a totally unspoiled natural paradise which allows endless sightseeing, nature watching, fishing and just plain exploring!
