Perfect Retreat

Just home from a week's stay in Elacampane Cottage. A real life enhancing experience! Such a cosy home, totally away from it all! Violet showed us to the cottage on a dark, rainy evening- I was so impressed from the moment we entered. She was so chatty and friendly and made us feel relaxed straight away. Plenty of firewood for us to light a great log fire, pull the curtains, relax on the comfy sofas and read and knit the night away, with the wind howling and the rain beating outside.Bliss! Then , big comfy beds and a great night's sleep. Spacious cottage, full of character and uninterrupted view over green fields to the coast. The house is so well stocked with all cooking accessories etc- when three of our family arrived to stay for a few days, we enjoyed many family meals, prepared in the well stocked kitchen, ate at the big dining table, by candlelight. Enjoyed feeding the many varieties of little birds outside the window. Great outings to Crookhaven, Barleycove Beach, Bantry House and Gardens, Mannings Emporium , Ballylickey for splendid food and platters and wine purchases, and on to Glengarriff Nature Reserve. Shopping at Dunbeacon Pottery , jewellry in Crookhaven and Courtyard Crafts, Schull added to the fun. And our daily evening ritual of a wee whiskey in The Bunratty Inn, Schull was also a highlight! All in all, a fantastic house, in a magnificent location, with a perfect host and hostess in Violet and Richard.
