I am a kiwi (from New Zealand) who has been living in Mallorca for almost 20 years.
Why this property?? The construction quality is top notch, the views stunning, the area very peaceful with no road noise, the driving access to anywhere quick and easy (no narrow windy roads to navigate!), golf right on your doorstep and shops and beaches 5 minutes away, what more could you want?!
We stayed at a villa in the Pollensa Golf development a few years back and really liked the fact that the villa we had was new, clean, great air-con, good view etc. When we planned our return trip this summer we chose Sonya's villa as the pool looked bigger and now our kids were older it was important. We were very pleased indeed with the villa, the rooms are spacious and clean, bathrooms spotless and well appointed. The biggest bonus was the pool, it was huge, clean and warm and had an infinity section which was very stylish. There were also a large number of inflatables which the kids enjoyed. For a week we ate breakfast and lunch on the terrace with the great views. Most evenings we drove into Pollensa or to Porto Pollensa for dinner. We also left the kids with the other family one evening and went to the restaurant at Son Brull hotel which is a few hundred yards away and had the tasting menu. The food and ambience there led to a very enjoyable evening. We also did the water park in Alcudia and marine land and the pirate show in magaluf which was excellent. In the past we've gotten itchy feet at a villa and gone on loads of trips, but here we enjoyed most the lazy afternoons round the pool and being bombed by our kids whilst re-enacting the opening scene of the Ray Winstone movie 'sexy beast'. I recommend that film also. Oh and we also got pamper by the pool to come and give us massages, pedicures, etc. that was good. All in all an excellent hassle free holiday made perfect by this amazing house. Thank you Sonya.
We stayed for two weeks and it suited us perfectly. The villa is spacious and everyone was clearly of a high standard. We comfortably had 6 adults and one baby for the first week, and then a very peaceful week with my wife and baby. I would certainly recommend for a young family like us. As advertised, it is no walking distance to any villages or shops, but this is no problem as it is only a short 5 minutes drive to Pollenca old town that has a lot to offer and easy to park at. The view and stunning and the outside space is ideal for enjoying them and the pool. Sonya was very helpful before our stay, in particular with some arrangements for baby equipment. Thanks again.
My impression of the house was that it was very neat, organized and had a great view. The house was very clean and up kept. Everything was included for our stay to be nice. There was plenty of room for easily more people. With a group of 7 there was no crowded feeling. I was very pleased with my stay. Thanks
First impression on arrival: great location of the villa with stunning views we loved every singel day anew. The villa differs to "normal" vacation houses. All rooms have atmosphere and a superior equipement which is in a well maintaind condition. You feel invited to a privae home. The villa is really spacious. We used it with 7 adults and felt very comfortabel. No problem to use it with 8. Laura, the housekeeper was very friendly and responsive. Last but not least: From the beginning of the rental process, Sonya, the owner was very friendly, always understanding, helpful, prompt in answering mails and questions. We would be happy to rent this villa again
We had high expectations of this villa based on the description and reviews, but the reality was even better. It was incredibly peaceful and private, beautifully laid out and with the highest standard of fixtures and fittings. The bed we used was possibly even more comfortable than our bed at home and it took us years to find the right mattress for us.
The kitchen has everything you need and is perfectly laid out - we felt at home immediately. The view from the terrace so stunning we ate there most nights, using the deli in Pollensa as a source of delicious Mallorcan meals and saving us the need to cook.
I was cycling and my husband played golf, in between times relaxation was the priority and this was the perfect base for us. Throughout the villa there are so many little touches that make it feel like a home from home, we will definitely be back.
Arrived at Villa Sonya after a short stay in Palma. the drive from the airport/Palma area took just 35 minutes, quickly found the Villa prominently placed above Pollenca Golf Course with stunning views over to Alcudia and Pollenca bay. The Villa is furnished to a very high standard with the wall adorned with some beautiful artwork. All of the rooms are comfortable with all the facilities you could ask for. Sonya kept in touch with us and flexed the housekeeping service in line with our needs. Barbecued on a couple of nights but also took the short trip into Pollenca (no more than 5 mins) to the wonderful square and friendly restaurants. Took the mountain road over to Soller and Port Soller with it's breathtaking views, but watch out for the cyclists. Beaches only 10 minutes away, great for kids although ours are grown up now. Overall a superb location within reach of everything you might need. Will definitely go back again; there is so much more to do and see than we were able to fit in! Thanks Sonya.
We all really enjoyed our stay at this lovely villa. Amenities were great and views from the terraces were stunning. Very convenient for golf at Pollensa and Alcanada and also for visiting Pollensa Town.
Mallorca has become one of the most recognised holiday destinations in Europe, not only for its natural beauty and wonderful climate but also for the rapidly emerging luxury villa market and the number famous actors, sports people and members of the royal family who own property here.
Mallorca’s landscape is one of the most stunning aspects of the island. The terrain ranges from the dramatic Tramuntana mountain range to the tiny coastal villages and bays that are dotted around its spectacular coast. A fine example is Puerto Pollensa with its sheltered horseshoe bay lined with beautiful sandy beaches and the Boquer mountain range as its backdrop. This area is renowned for having the best fish restaurants on the island.
This is not to say Mallorca is simply a sleepy forgotten island. Palma is both a cosmopolitan and vibrant city while remaining essentially Spanish with much evidence of its Moorish heritage still intact. In true Spanish tradition its city centre is a bustling montage of shopping centres, modern boulevards and a wide selection of bars and restaurants.
With nearly 350 miles of coastline water based activities on the island are numerous including water-skiing, sailing, wind and kite surfing, diving, kayaking ... the possibilities are endless. While the land based sports tend to concentrate around golf (with 21 courses on the island) numerous other activities are available and also a wide selection of spectator sports to enjoy.
Whether you are looking for a relaxing break, a romantic getaway or an active holiday Mallorca can offer it all.
Pollensa itself is a picturesque Roman town with many points of historic interest and fascinating old streets with art galleries and local museums. There are many quality restaurants and particularly in summer evenings the Plaza Mayor buzzes with life, a spot favoured by many celebrities.
Pollenca has many little boutiques and gift shops selling locally crafted goods from jewellery to ceramics, fabrics and interior decorations (try to visit the Pollenca fair in the middle of November if crafty fairs are your thing!). The market in Pollenca is held every Sunday between 8.30am and 1.00pm. The market in Port de Pollenca is on Wednesdays.
Pollenca is hugely popular with walkers and cyclists thanks to its marvellous location in the foothills of the Tramuntana mountains. Coastal walks are also popular, particularly up towards the Cap de Formentor on the north-westerly coast of Mallorca - road cyclists are also fond the twisty road that takes you to the lighthouse on the Cap.
Sailors are attracted to the area for the northern coastline and there are plenty of water sports at the beaches of both Port de Pollenca and Port d'Alcudia. Golf enthusiasts have several golf courses close by, and there are a number of horse riding centres in the locality too.
Pollenca is a delightful place to wander around. The town is filled with characterful lanes that wind around little squares where the locals take evening promenades.
Several lovely beaches are nearby, the famous Formentor beach can be reached by ferry from Puerto Pollensa. Take beautiful drives through the mountains to the monastery of Lluc, towards Deia and Soller, or climb the Puig Maria in Pollensa for stunning views and coffee in the monastery. Several ports serve the area, there is a lot of boating activity and rental, sailing, wind and kite surfing schools, all you need is right here!
