Contemporary Styled 3 Bedroom Villa 15-20 mins Walk to Obidos Lagoon & Beach
Why Robert Hopkins chose Foz do Arelho
It is a lovely unspoilt area with friendly people, so relaxing and laid back. Beach is fabulous and family friendly.

Very spacious villa. Extremely clean and well equipped. We had the pool to ourselves for most of our stay. The bed was very comfortable and the en-suite had a great shower.
Good quiet location with a few good restaurants in easy walking distance, there is a very good tapas restaurant about 5 minutes walk away. There are more restaurants along the front of the lagoon which is a bit further but walkable. You could get a taxi back if needed, it cost us around 6 euros.
I would recommend a trip to Lisbon, we took a taxi to Caldas da Rainha and then a bus into the main bus station at Lisbon. It’s easy to get the Metro into the centre from there. I would also recommend the Buddha gardens near Óbidos, don’t miss the African corner, it’s all stunning.
Tip, if you are not going to pre-pay the toll on the A8, make sure you pick up a ticket at the first toll that you will need to pay for at the next toll. Don’t enter the Via Verde tolls if you are paying manually.
Excellent villa in a relaxed village which has all the amenities within easy walking distance including two very good restaurants. The area has dramatic scenery with walks to the wild Atlantic, the ever changing lagoon, coastal walkways and forest paths. The villa is well-equipped and comfortable. The sheltered patio is a real sun trap. The pellet burner was a quick and easy way to add heat on a cold evening. Robert was quick to respond to any question or query.
We were very happy with the accommodations. We would definitely stay here again. The location was convenient for us. The place was spacious, well equipped, and very clean. The owners are extremely responsive.
A lovely villa located close to village centre and shops
We returned to Foz after a visit 5 years ago because as a family holiday it offers pretty much everything we need. It's (relatively) undiscovered, meaning you holiday mainly alongside the Portuguese but we noticed more English and French voices on this trip. The beaches (lagoon and Atlantic) are fantastic, there are plenty of lovely restaurants, places to explore nearby and we consider it excellent value for money. The villa was great, very spacious, clean and filled with everything we needed for our 2 weeks. We hired a car but you can do Foz without as the villa is a short walk to shops and 20 mins to beaches. Overall a great place and if the mist is kind some very warm days can be enjoyed!
Spacious and clean and a good walking distance from the beach
Very spacious villa with some sun great trap points, well provided with all that we needed.
We liked the distance from the beach as it meant we had a good walk each time we went there (but not too far)
Wonderful villa in a really nice area
Wonderful spacious villa. Such a beautiful quiet location but close to all amenities you would want for a family or couple holiday.
The area is ideal for all types of holiday whether you want to explore new places, relax by the sea or explore the countryside in the area. There are many places of interest most of which are within an hour or so drive from our villa.
Just a short distance away is the medieval walled village and castle of Obidos, here you will find plenty of cafes and restaurants. There is a path along the entire length of the walls which provide great views of the area, then a gentle wander through the small lanes.
Not far from Obidos is the Buddha Eden – Garden of Peace, it is a beautiful managed garden of 35 hectares (86 acres) of natural fields, lakes, manicured gardens, sculptures and Buddhist statuary.
Peniche, San Martinho do Porto & Nazaré have some fantastic large beaches as well as fresh fish restaurants which deserve a visit. Not far from Peniche is the Berlengas nature reserve.
The pilgrimage town of Fatima & the natural caves at Grutas de Mira de Aireare are 1 hour approximately drive so both are easily done on the same day. The Templar city of Tomar is also in the same direction, this has a stunning round Templar church (12th century) of the Convent of the Order of Christ
There are many other towns with monasteries and palaces in the area, these include Alcobaça, Batalha, Mafra, Ourem, Sintra (there is too much to see in one day so worth a couple of trips), and Lisbon. Along the coast towards Lisbon are the beach towns of Ericeira, Estoril and Cascais. The coast in this area is also famed for its surfing.
