Large self catering characterful houses sleeping 9 to 12 in 5 bedrooms

Located among the quaint old streets of East Looe, Lantau Cottage and Osborne House are immaculately presented historic houses dating back between 350 and 400 years. Both properties are very well equipped for modern day living yet each is steeped in a rich history with many original features including beamed and gabled ceilings and offer discerning guests a flavour of days long gone. With quality furniture and soft furnishings throughout, guests will appreciate the attention to detail. The houses are normally let from Saturday to Saturday during the peak season but we offer long weekend breaks during other times. The houses are ideally situated just a few paces from East Looe’s sandy beach, historic harbour and many cafes, bars and restaurants. These are no-smoking properties and we regret that we can't take pets. Each house has nearby parking for 2 cars including 1 space in the beachside carkpark and one in the Millpool carkpark.

Located amongst the quaint old streets of East Looe, Lantau Cottage is an immaculately presented former 17th Century Ship Merchant's House. Dating back over 400 years, the property is steeped in a rich history with many original features including Elizabeth panelled walls, beamed and gabled ceilings, oreil windows and a winding staircase that incorporates an original full size ship's mast. The house is very well equipped for modern day use but offers discerning guests a flavour of days long gone. With quality furniture and soft furnishings throughout, guests will appreciate the attention to detail. The house sleep 8-9 guests in five bedrooms (3 doubles, 1 twin & 1 single) and is normally let from Saturday to Saturday during peak periods. Its ideally situated just a few paces from East Looe’s sandy beach, historic harbour and many cafes, bars and restaurants. This is a no-smoking property and we regret that we can't take pets. The house has the benefit of nearby parking for 2 cars.

What an amazing place! Had a fantastic family holiday filled with laughter, sunshine, pasties and cider! A wonderful cottage in a superb setting that was home from home and every need catered for. Much treasured memories .....absolutely magic!

Family vacation in Looe.

We loved the location and the old world charm of the cottage. Dilly was most helpful when we had problems with the wifi and with suggestions where to eat and things to do. However, the four adults in our party did not sleep well as the beds were too firm. Also, the soft furnishings are in need of an update as they are a bit tired. Overall we had an enjoyable stay at Lantau Cottage.

Owner's Response: Many thanks for your feedback and we're really glad you enjoyed your stay at Lantau Cottage. We're sorry that you found the mattresses too hard. Most of the beds have high quality 2000 pocket sprung orthopaedic matresses which tend to be more firm than standard continuous spring or foam matresses. These tend to offer better support and are more comfortable (cooler) when its warmer but are not to everyone's taste. We've recently replaced all of the bed linen and some of the soft furnishings and will be updating more over the coming months. We're glad that Dilly was able to help fix the wifi - we've now replaced the 'box' with a new and faster version. A big thank-you for choosing to stay at Lantau from everyone on the team.

An absulutely charming and unique property

We spent Xmas at Lantau Cottage and found to be a perfect venue for six of us aged between 20 and 78 to stay in. Comfortable, charming, very unusual in an attractive way and also exceptionally handy for the town centre. Lantau Cottage is highly recommended for anything from a relaxed break to a full on house party. Additionally it is well-served with eateries, pubs and tea houses. We're looking for an excuse to go back!

A wonderful family holiday home

Lantau Cottage was the perfect holiday home for a family of 3 generations - the youngest being 4 years old. The cottage was quirky, spacious, interesting, cosy and really well equipped. The location was fabulous, with the beach, shops, restaurants and quay just yards from our door. The Eden Project, Bodmin jail and Polperro are just short drives away and all well worth a visit. Overall, a fabulous holiday and we will definitely re-book.

Wonderful historic house charming seaside town I

This is an amazing holiday property situated right in the ancient medieval heart of this pretty holiday town. The house is beautifully restored and imaginatively furnished to complement the ancient timber framed structure. Tapestries as wall hangings, interesting artefacts and the exposed beams create a beautiful and comfortable house for a holiday stay. The house is equipped with everything you could possibly need and makes for a real home from home stay. Each bedroom is beautifully furnished, the two bathrooms are clean and cosy and the well equipped kitchen and dining area make for great leisurely cooking and dining. Situated just yards from the beach and with the added bonus of TWO dedicated parking spaces, the house is perfectly located within the town.

Looe was an unexpected delight, being unfamiliar to us despite having stayed in Cornwall several times before. Having an ancient medieval heart the town has a good deal of interesting history and an excellent historic town trail to explore. In addition there are shops, cafés and restaurants galore meaning there is plenty to enjoy close to home. If you do want to venture further afield the bus to Polperro provides the opportunity for an invigorating walk back on the Costal Path. In addition the romantic railway line running from Looe to Liskeard provides a beautiful journey through gorgeous scenery with the opportunity for walks and picnic stops along the way.

There were 7 of us on this holiday at one point or the other and everyone found something to enjoy and discover whilst enjoying our restful comfortable stay in this gorgeous house!

PS Do try Daisy's for breakfast or coffee and cakes!

Fantastic house, perfect location

Lantau is the most incredible property we have stayed in. It's a charming mixture of very old features and history but with modern comfort.

Tthe large dining table was a wonderful feature for mealtimes and suppers, with the lounge great to relax in also. All beds really comfortable too.

The location couldn't be better - close to sandy beach, quayside (for crabbing and boat trips) and the shops (good mix of necessities and extras). We hardly used the car at all.

We particularly enjoyed The Old Sail Loft (several times), The Smugglers Cott and The Courtyard Bistro.

In all, we had a super holiday in a gorgeous property in a very friendly town.
