3 bedroom spacious ground floor apartment, sleeps 6, 15 metres from sea

The apartment not only has stunning views of Grand Harbout but is also just a short stroll away from the 12th century Fort St Angelo and the Grand Harbour Marina with its ocean-going superyachts, restaurants, wine bars and Maritime Museum. Birgu was the home city of the Knights of St John from 1530.

As a fully equipped, three bedroom home, the apartment offers a high standard of contemporary, stylish accommodation for holidaymakers seeking a quiet, relaxing holiday on the doorstep of one of Malta’s oldest, most beautiful and historic cities.

There is a large, open plan kitchen, dining area and sitting room that opens out onto a sea-facing stone balcony with table and chairs.

The large master bedroom with 6ft bed has an en suite shower room. The second bedroom has a king size bed and shares a large family bathroom with the third bedroom which has twin beds and a door to the internal courtyard. All bedrooms have air-conditioning.

More info about the apartment and cleaning: The apartment is fully furnished as a family home rather than a holiday let. Its contemporary style with design classics such as a Le Corbusier chaise longue and Noguchi coffee table is complemented with an eclectic mix of colourful pictures and rugs to provide a vibrant yet relaxing environment.

If you would like our cleaner to clean the apartment during your stay, you can request her to do this and pay her directly.

Airport pick up and key collection: Unless you wish to make your own way from the airport, we will arrange for you to be picked up from the airport (6km from apartment) by our preferred taxi company.

If you wish to hire a car, you can park it in a secure parking space in the outdoor car park adjacent to St Angelo Mansions.

In the apartment, you will find an information pack containing further details about the apartment, Vittoriosa, Maltese tourist attractions, maps and bus timetables.

I lived in Malta until I was 11 - a most wonderful, 'golden' childhood spending most of my time either in or by the sea. I have always retained a very strong emotional tie to this quirky island and we bought our apartment in 2007 with a view to retiring here.

Why Christiane Morris chose Malta

The location is just superb - as soon as I arrive, throw open the front doors and go onto the balcony, I can forget everything else. There is always something to watch in Grand Harbour - from superyachts and super-sized cruise ships to rowing boats and the local luzzu. Even a dolphin or two if you are lucky!

What makes this apartment unique

The view - and the access to such a wide variety of places to eat and drink just on the doorstep. In the summer, we also love swimming in the sea just outside the apartment or crossing the creek and making our way round to the sandy bay at Rinella.

A balcony with a view

If you want to discover Malta, then this is the apartment which offers the perfect location. It must have one of the best views on the island. It's also really comfortable and roomy accommodation whether you are on your own, a couple, a family or a bunch of friends. Best of all, of an evening sit on the balcony with a glass of wine and take in the view, the atmosphere, the history and all the sights and sounds of the Grand Habour. Absolute bliss.

Wonderful Place

We had an amazing time in Malta and this apartment is a perfect base to explore the islands. The owner (Christiane) is very professional, accommodating, helpful and very responsive. The apartment is sleek, quiet (well, you only hear the water splashing against the waterfront wall), very clean and super comfy. The view is even more amazing, especially at night!! It's right next to Fort San Angelo and a few steps from the water.The neighborhood is quiet, very safe and quaint. There are a few restaurants and bars around, but, we only managed to have dinner at the Sicilian restaurant (forgot the name) by the waterfront - not so good. Water taxis (2 euros one way and very short fun ride) to Valletta is less than 5 minute walk from the apartment and drops you off close to the lift that takes you to the Upper Barrakka Gardens (lots of high hills here). The only downside is there is no one-stop grocery shopping - it is a bit out of the way. But, that wasn't a big deal, there are smaller mom and pop stores selling basic goods, produce, dairy and meat. Buses (2 euros one way) and taxis (15 - 20 euros, depending at time of the day sometimes) are also options to get to Valletta, but, the water taxis are the quickest and have great views. We also bused to Mdina, Rabat and Marsaxlokk (again 2 euros one way). I've raved about this apartment to friends and family. Now, they want to go to Malta. Thanks very much for a wonderful experience. We will be back. CHEERS!

The apartment is lovely and comfortable, nice and clean.the owners are very helpful and reply quickly to any thing we asked.They booked the taxis from the airport which if you have a late flight is very useful.The view from the balcony is lovely.There are lots of things to do around this area. Along the harbour

and across the bridge walk along the waterfront to near the end the restaurant Tas-Serena has great food.

Fantastic location

This apartment is perfect for exploring Malta. Beautiful waterfront location, with wonderful views. Comfortable facilities, as described in the listing. Very helpful owner - we certainly appreciated having the airport pickup arranged. One of our party has difficulty walking, but the lift opposite the front door straight down to the carpark made it very easy. Thank you.

it was lovely.

e amil communication was great, organsies a rental car thorugh owner, parking was initially complicated but then we got the hang of it, apartment as described, essentials and more provided ( rare for Malta), wifi great, air conditioning great but it doesnt get too hot anyway even in september given north east facing! swimming 15 feet away a boon. im moveing in next week;)

A home away from home

This apartment lives up to the excellent reviews it gets here. It really is a home away from home with everything you could need. We especially liked that you can swim pretty much outside the front door.

Tip if you stay here:

For just €2.80 return you can get the public ferry from Cospicua dockyard creek over to Valetta. It's a nice scenic short cruise in the Grand Harbour, the price even includes the elevator up to the city gates when you reach the Valletta side.

This is really popular with our guests - particularly for those who don't want to hire a car as it enables them to get across to Valletta very easily. And from there they can use the public bus service to all parts of the island.

Vittoriosa (originally known as Birgu) is one of The Three Cities, the collective description of the three historic fortified cities of Vittoriosa, Cospicua,and Senglea built by the Knights of St John who settled in Malta in 1530 after they were thrown out of their stronghold on Rhodes. They have a unique charm and character that distinguish them from all other towns in Malta.

Vittoriosa is full of 400 year old heritage buildings including the Inquisitor’s Palace and several Auberges of the Knights of St John. Other attractions include the Maritime Museum, the Malta at War Museum and the 1,750 year old beautiful church of St Lawrence.

Unesco World Heritage Site, Valletta is just a ten minute water taxi ride across Grand Harbour - or 20 minutes on the local buses. The capital of Malta is one of the rare urban inhabited sites that has preserved in near entirety its original features. It is inextricably linked to the history of the military and charitable Order of St John of Jerusalem. It was ruled successively by the Phoenicians, Greeks, Carthaginians, Romans, Byzantines, Arabs and the Order of the Knights of St John. The city has undergone no important modifications since 1798, the date when it was abandoned by the Knights of St John.

Grand Harbour Marina is a very popular destination with many good restaurants and wine bars and is just 100 metres from the apartment. With its superyachts and boats, it's also a perfect spot for sailing enthusiasts.
