Apartment Flocon is the ground floor of a chalet in a beautiful, peaceful setting in the superb village of Champagny en Vanoise, La Plagne. It has a newly refurbished and well equipped kitchen, with full sized oven, large fridge freezer, ceramic hob and microwave. There is a lovely solid wood dining table and quality upholstered chairs with plenty of padding for long chats over dinner! The sunny living room has a sofa, comfy sprung chairs and large glazed patio doors, which span the width of the apartment, giving fantastic uninterrupted views across open meadows to the mountains of Courchevel. The patio doors open onto a sheltered terrace with picnic table, a great place to sit in the sun with a glass of wine taking in the shimmering mountain views. It is 30 seconds from the sauna and games room, which is also available to our other guests staying at Chalets Marmotte and Sapiniere.
Champagny en Vanoise: Champagny is an authentic mountain village with a character that still reflects its ancient farming origins. Tiny paths link old farms and chalets in a village where traditional Savoie life and modern tourism mesh seamlessly together. The village has a lively atmosphere with shops, bars & restaurants within easy walking distance. At night, Le Timbale, Les Rochers & Jackie’s bar are the main focal points for drinking and dancing with live bands and D.J.'s.
Skiing & Boarding in Champagny: A cable-car whisks skiers to the Champagny ski area (2000m) in just 7 minutes which is where you’ll find the nursery slopes. Three brilliant long blue runs are great to learn on and progress to while advanced skiers can zip on to the superb off piste either side. You have a choice of two red runs to take you back to the village at the end of the day. Champagny offers direct access into La Plagne, but is less busy, so is much quieter and more pleasant, especially during peak weeks.
Skiing & Boarding in La Plagne & Paradiski: The whole ski area covers 210km of finely groomed pistes in one of the biggest interlinked ski areas in Europe. With over 100 blue and red runs to cruise down, most skiers and boarders can travel vast distances around the 11 villages. Some very long black runs descend the Bellecote Glacier (3250m) both on and off piste, into the pretty tree lined valley of Montchavin. There are also numerous mogul fields in the area and a board park in 'Plagne Soleil'.
Our family of five stayed for a sunny and wonderful self catering skiing trip over the half term. We were welcomed by Josh and team upon arrival and were very impressed by the hands on approach: helping us to get our bearings, ski hire and lessons and passes. Nothing is too much trouble. The view from the patio windows were second to none. You can cook anything in the chalet, it has a huge table and chairs, has room enough for 8 (it does sleep 8 although it would be a squeeze to be fair if you wanted to relax together - but I guess that's what the bars are for in the village) and has two toilets and showers. It is a small walk (uphill) to the ski hire shops and then an elevator to the bottom of the main lifts to the slopes. This is no problem at all as the village is picture postcard perfect and is a pleasure to do. The skiing is top class along with some of the best views in the world. The pool room has all of the modern facilities, including a sumptuous hot tub and wonderful sauna. The games room is also very good too. We will be back!
I rented this apartment with my husband and 3 large grown up children and we found it spacious enough for all of us. It was always warm and it was great having 2 shower rooms. The on-site swimming pool and Jacuzzi are a fantastic asset to the chalet and although they are shared with the other 3 chalets, most evenings, after skiing we had them to ourselves. It is a 10 minute walk to the lifts but once up on the slopes the skiing is good for all standards and you can ski all of La Plagne and over to Les Arcs.
Me and my family have stayed at apartment Flocon in Champagny 4 times now and I wouldn't stay anywhere else in the French Alps.
The resort is situated in the most beautiful little French village and apartment Flocon is a typical French, cosy apartment with the most amazing picture perfect views of the mountains directly in front, in Courcheval.
Flocon was always tremendously clean and tidy with the beds made and bathrooms and living area cleaned everyday by the friendly staff working there. It is fully kitted out with everything you need for a relaxed comforting stay and the staff could not do enough to help during our stay.
We spent a week here for the last 4 years catered and the food was to die for. Three course meals everyday except the staff day off, with a cooked breakfast in the morning before you go off skiing. Coming off the mountains everyday to a freshly baked cake, french bread and teas & coffee all prepared for us was a treat also!
The swimming pool downstairs and sauna in the games room a stones throw away was a lovely way to chill out after a hard days skiing on the mountains.
The ski shop and lift up to the mountains is only a short walk away.
Overall apartment Flocon and the whole resort of Barrelli Ski is beautiful and a lovely stay and we didn't want to leave! Very recommended and we hope to get back again next year!
Other Activities: Snowboarding
Ski: You can store your equipment in the ski hire shop at the foot of the lift, which is only a short walk from the apartment. Not having to walk far in your clumpy ski boots at the end of the day is a real bonus. The shops bars and restaurants are also only a short stroll, so following your arrival at the apartment you will not need a vehicle in the resort again until the day you leave.
This self catering apartment can be booked on its own or can be booked as extra accommodation for Chalets Marmotte and Sapiniere if your group outgrows either of those two chalets.
