2 Bedroom Apartment, Sleeps 4-6, Stunning position & Views, Few mins to Pistes

Tastefully furnished, well equipped apartment in the picturesque village of Champagny en Vanoise, La Plagne. It has fantastic facilities for a small apartment with full use of an indoor swimming pool and a games room. It has a cosy living room with large sliding doors across one end so like big picture windows opening onto a sunny deck. The bed in the double bedroom is set in a decorative wooden alcove, carved in the local Savoyard style with integral spot lighting and shelving. There are two L shaped interlinked rooms in the middle of the apartment, a bright bunk bedroom which has whitewashed, wood panelled walls and a room leading off, that you could use as an additional bedroom for a baby or small child. This room has a huge end wardrobe, so it could be used as a large walk in wardrobe, a storage area, or a drying and boot room. There is also a further room directly off the living room which could be used as a cot room for a baby or as an alternative drying and boot room.

Champagny en Vanoise: Champagny is an authentic mountain village with a character that still reflects its ancient farming origins. Tiny paths link old farms and chalets in a village where traditional Savoie life and modern tourism mesh seamlessly together. The village has a lively atmosphere with shops, bars & restaurants within easy walking distance. At night, Le Timbale, Les Rochers & Jackie’s bar are the main focal points for drinking and dancing with live bands and D.J.'s.

Skiing & Boarding in Champagny: A cable-car whisks skiers to the Champagny ski area (2000m) in just 7 minutes which is where you’ll find the nursery slopes. Three brilliant long blue runs are great to learn on and progress to while advanced skiers can zip on to the superb off piste either side. You have a choice of two red runs to take you back to the village at the end of the day. Champagny offers direct access into La Plagne, but is less busy, so is much quieter and more pleasant, especially during peak weeks.

Skiing & Boarding at La Plagne & Paradiski: The whole ski area covers 210km of finely groomed pistes in one of the biggest interlinked ski areas in Europe. With over 100 blue and red runs to cruise down, most skiers and boarders can travel vast distances around the 11 villages. Some very long black runs descend the Bellecote Glacier (3250m) both on and off piste, into the pretty tree lined valley of Montchavin. There are also numerous mogul fields in the area and a board park in 'Plagne Soleil'.

Great chalet in a good location

We have recently returned from a weeks stay at the Apartment Glacon in Champagny en Vanoise managed by Barelli Ski, what a lovely experience it was!

Before we had even left the country we had contact with the owner of the company who gave us full information regarding the facilities not only in the apartment but also in the area and what ski passes, lessons, facilities were available. The whole booking and payment process was slick and well managed.

When we arrived at the apartment we were greated with a lunch of tomato soup, bread and wine already prepared in our chalet (even though we were self catering) a nice surprise after a long drive!

The chalet was clean, had all the required facilities and amenities. The local staff knew everything we wanted to know, suggested places to go and helped with the issues we had with the childrens ski school (Piou Piou / Nursery). They had prebooked our lift passes and brought them to our chalet so we were all ready to go in the morning.

The swimming pool and indoor hot tub were great for apres ski, the village had everything you could want although I would recommend people take some DVD's with them for the evening if you have small children as there is nothing on the TV in English and the village is relatively quiet.

One downside is that the apartment is at the bottom of a very steep hill which you need to go up to get to either the village or the ski lift, we were lucky as we had our car with us but I would not have fancied climbing that hill every day with ski boots on!

Anybody thinking about putting their child into the Piou Piou Ski Garden or the nursery think again! the teachers are abrupt, rude, dont speak english and wouldnt let our daughter go to the bathroom! unfortunately she was traumatised after the first day and spent the remainder of the week stuck to our sides which limited our skiing.

I would definitely recommend this rental apartment, or the chalets that they offer and most definitely Barelli Ski.

Owner's Response: Thanks for the lovely review Jo. I would say a couple of things in response. I also have a 5 and a 7 year old, who I walk the 400m up to the village and the ski lift and although they whinge a little it really isn't that bad - especially as the ski hire shop we use is right at the foot of the pistes and stores your equipment overnight for you. This means you can walk to and from the chalet in your normal shoes, so you shouldn't need to clomp up and down in plastic ski boots, which definitely wouldn't be that comfy! It is also a very pretty little walk next to a mountain stream. With regards to the Piou Piou Club, run by the ESF, most of our guests that we have booked in do receive a good, friendly service. I'm obviously very disappointed in the experience Jo had this time and it is something I will bring up at our end of season review with the ESF. In the years we've been in Champagny, the ESF have improved enormously and I now have no qualms about recommending them, which I couldn't have said when we started operating in Champagny over 15 years ago.

Great apartment, good location, friendly village

Clean, cosy, warm apartment. Kitchen has all you need. Friendly and welcoming staff. Great bonus extras (swimming pool, games room). Great location in a lovely friendly village. Nice little restaurants and bakery. Owner has connections with good ski hire shop and slopes are vast. Blues are a little red for my liking, but we're only relative beginners and we settled into village life very quickly.

Nous avons passé de très bonnes vacances dans le chalet de M Barrell qui est parfaitement équipé.

La piscine,sauna et jacuzzi sont très appréciables le soir après une journée de ski.

Ski: You can store your equipment in the ski hire shop at the foot of the lift, which is only a short walk from the apartment. Not having to walk far in your clumpy ski boots at the end of the day is a real bonus. The shops bars and restaurants are also only a short stroll, so following your arrival at the apartment you will not need a vehicle in the resort again until the day you leave.

This self catering apartment can be booked on its own or can be booked as extra accommodation for Chalets Marmotte and Sapiniere if your group outgrows either of those two chalets.
